Static in the mains (with. I audio playing and all channels muted) leads me to the amplifiers first. Usually they are cranked all the way up and you are hearing THD (total harmonic distortion) in the form of static. Before making changes I would put headphones into the console and solo the main output to make sure there isn’t static in the board caused by a grounding issue or something similar. If the board is clear, I would then turn down the amps and start over listening for static. If it is still present you begin going through the connections from your board, to your amps, to your speakers checking for grounding issues and bad cables. All this needs to be done before adding any inputs into the soundboard and going through sound checks of any sort.
Completely unrelated to the video, but I love your self-feeding log fire 😀
Haha. Keen eye for the garden area there.
What does static in the mains tell you (if you hear it)?
