The best RPG of all time. The story is fantastic, the dungeons were cool (Titan’s Stronghold!), the quests were interesting and motivated you to complete them.
MM6, 7, and 8 are the best. MM7 is my favorite among them. There’s actually a mod that merges all 3 continents and allows your party traveling between Enroth, Antagarich, and Jadame. Super fun invading that damn pyramid in Dragonsands with dragons from mm8 in your party :) Too bad they couldn’t finish MM9 :( The gameplay is fun. The spells are cool and different from each other, the class promotion quests are interesting and actually challenging. I do hope JVC buys M&M franchise back from Ubisoft and starts a kickstarter for a new game. That’d be awesome.
played all of those 3 and only them. 7 was definately the best, could have been longer to beat though, thats its only weakness compared to 6. I mean those games are far from perfection and unbalanced - but they are about the most important thing, they are FUN. If i look at modern games today they lack that stupid fun thing, everything feels too controlled and feels like a spread sheet.
@@zeusapollo6504 the only one I ever played was 6 and it was my sister's favorite game. My uncle had made a giant cheat book of all the secrets and glitches in the game, such as the flight scroll that you could use at the first town to get to the end area, where you could run past the dragons and go to an area to get free endgame loot. Pretty fun
MM3 was the first one I played. It was fairly clunky but I loved the vibrant art and the insane variety of monsters. After playing D&D games for so long, it was a breath of fresh air. Tried 6, 7 and 8, but just couldn't get into them. Clouds/Darkside of Xeen was still the pinnacle of the M&M series for me. Massive, and so much fun.
Yes, they had the old Elder mythology with sci-fi elements and Sheltem as the archenemy. Sadly they dropped all those so that from part 7 on the series became meaningless.
Yeah, World of Xeen (MM4&5 installed at the same time if you had a 40Mb HDD :) was the best. MM3 had a charm, as well as MM VI. There was something great about EOB II, Wizardry VII, Lands of Lore, MM 3-5, that the 3D versions couldn't cope with.
Yes, Might and Magic 7, where the flight skill and strafing in real-time make you IMBA by spamming arrows. I wish Ubisoft continue with the franchise (no not the mobile game they have) or remake the very old M&M.
Ubisoft can publish them? they should release collection of all the games on all platforms! they really are wasting their time and money on other things, its madness having Beyond Good and Evil 2 developed for so long. even as dumb as Square Enix is, they have been porting their old obscure series like SaGa to current platforms. even Sword and Fairy got 2 of their games on current consoles, and Blizzard remastered D2 on platforms. they dont have to be remasters, faithful ports with controiller adaptation can be done., if even classic Doom games made it to current consoles, all Might and Magic games can be ported too.
I've just finished MM6 today. Before I had finished MM7 (the first one, ten years ago), MM8, MM9 and MM10 (this one last year). I love those games. I tried to play MM1 to MM5 and I found it impossible once you'd played from MM6 on.
MM6 is my favorite. I like many of the changes in MM7, but 7 and 8 really lacked some more dangerous areas. There was so much open world to explore in MM6 compared to the later ones, and the enemies were harder and more numerous. Some dont like the huge dungeons in MM6, but i liked the adventure of it
Castle Darkmoor tested my will to live, but it's still fun. MM6 vets know you don't fight your way through Darkmoor--you gun for the memory crystal and book of liches and use a gate master follower to peace out. God, I love 6, though.
I felt those parts were just annoying and did not translate well to having fun, MM7 was too easy at the end and shorter, but very well executed and polished. MM8 felt more like a joke and could be beat very fast, but still fun in a weird way.
Wow Mandate of Heaven, just bought the 6 pack with it for 2.50 on gog right now for the spring sale. Seeing Mandate was nostalgic af. I remember the bloody realistic faces when people got injured used to kind of scare me.
Same! I just got it and been enjoying Mandate so much again. I used to have to do the dark dungeons with the sounds off cause I'd get scared as a kid haha
I'm still playing it occasionally. I wish I had the time for a full (we know what that means :D, every single map field stepped onto, no matter what it contains) playthrough.
Like many other, 7 is my favorite. The story is just gold. You win a castle in a tournament and must now start to fix your property, which leads you deeper in deeper... But what a love most about the M&M games is,m how the skills and ranks complement each other, and you have to carefully plan your team in advance if you want to maximize your potential. I also loved M&M:X. The classes where fun and distinctive. The fighting was fun. Its a shame how Ubisoft treated that game....

@@mightykitten4615 You might be right, I tried to play an old MM games (being a big MM6-10 fan) a long time ago and I've been confused a little; perhaps I was just too young :)
@@heroicalMead Well, I was 13 when I played it so to each his own. Its kinda like Deus Ex. I personally was fine with the slightly clunky controls, but others weren't.
@@mightykitten4615 By me side I've never played earlier versions of might and magic and started with MM7 when I was about 15 years, so for me it was difficult to run into older mechanics despite my tries. I really would like to play every MM game, to feel the history by my own. Seems my only hope is a remakes of Isles of Terra and Xeen.
One thing I'm sure of is that the artists who made these games would have no issues taking the psychological test where you need to draw a non-existent animal.
Awesome video!! I didn't even know about 10! I really hope they fixed all that was so annoying about 9, that installment really caused my progress to stall with the series so I am hopeful that 10 will offer some redemption
I still remmemeber playing Might and Magic Legacy X, so dissapointed, expected more after Might and Magic 9 was masterpiece. But the game had bug that you couldnt progress if you didnt have enough dexterity, I started the game with full dexterity but still that didnt fix the bug and the support were no help... waste of time. I love the earlier Might and Magic Tavern card game within the game, those were always nice.
Its funny, I used to hate the save mechanic and needing to eat and drink. I remember getting my party through a horribly difficult dungeon (I think it was MM2) only to die from starvation one square away from the inn where I could save my game. Why they put this mechanic back in some current games I will never understand.
Saludos.
I spent the most time on MM3 - you had to really know your lore back then, if you wanted full rewards. And it had stuff like the jealous King who took out revenge for the Queen's affair with Smello the Orc....
I loved the arena system in MM2 (three arenas and four tickets, i.e. 12 arena tiers, all of which you could access from the very start of the game via city portals), and I agree, it was best on the Genesis. It was such a fun (and optional) way to level up characters, and I haven't seen a similar system in any game since.
Is there another game series similar to this? ive played M&M 6-8 countless times. Only games i could find thats vaguely similar was Wizardry 8 and a lesser known game called Wizards and Warriors.
Wizardry 8 is a GEM in every single way. From character development to story just top notch. I never tried Wiz and War though...can it be played on modern PC`s, is there a version i could download..??
i've played with the 6th one when i was a kid i didnt know what the heck is going on, and still dont know, this gampley is weird, however the Heroes series is god.
Yeah same. I always got stuck as a kid once I hit Free Haven, could never figure out where to go that wasn't way overleveled for me. I started playing it like a year ago and got much further, but it gets kinda boring and repetitive after a while and I never finished it.
3 is under rated as fuck. Everyone likes to talk about world of xeen for old school or mandate of heaven for 3d ones but 3 was so solid. Even the first two are good but hard to get into just cause keyboard only control
Dungeon crawler games were my fav but I never had a chance to play the M&M series, only ever played the Heroes games. M&MX was ok but they kinda did it dirty.
I found 10 to be a disappointment. In 6-8, my go-to indoor spell was Sparks. Outdoors, I would have to run up to the enemy but then Sparks would still be very useful. Especially at higher levels. At a distance it was meteor swarm and Starburst.
@testicular What are the odds, I've just started playing it AGAIN just a few days ago lmao. Mind magic can do a favor tbh, but I found spirit essential as I prefer melee to magic, so bless and heroism was very important for me.
I spent 3 days trying to beat Mamushi and gave up. That fucker is the FIRST major boss, and he's so tough you stand ZERO chance if you approach with a wrong build, and due to the game's linearity there is no way to fix your build once you reach the stage where you need to defeat Mamushi to unlock the rest of the game.
Just finished MM8 yesterday after having played 6 and 7 last year. I tried the old ones, offered with the 6th, but it was too ugly and gave me headache. You feel the difference between them ; 6 was ambitious (it was supposed to be launched in 1996, I remember the trailer of HoMM2), longest ost, very hard (even when you know the game), long dongeon, lot of quests, easter eggs and it had a lot of charm. 7 was good, good music too,I like the introduction of archomage, some change were nice (grand master introduction), the factions were nice, but the dungeon felt way shorter, easier (especially since you can become invisible..) and the ending is a little bit underwhelming. MM8 has a mediocre OST, shorter dungeon than 7, even easier too (dragon are OP),ending boss is defeated by a riddle, felt like I beat it in mere days and not weeks like 6. The only thing really nice was the possibilité to know where the expert/master/GM are on the map (finally !).
@@unconscious7219 yeah, true, MM7 is still best, despite shorter dungeons, and that it was easier than 6, the point is, its still much more fun to play its like the directors cut of MM6, it cut all the boring stuff and feels like an adrenaline rush. MM8 was way too easy and too short, yes thats a pity. But again, it was incredible fun. I think i would rate them MM7>MM6>MM8 If MM8 would only be a bit more difficult and would take longer to beat, it would be better than 6. Just in terms of fun, in terms of difficulty and how long it takes to beat the game MM6 wins. I have to add i played all those games when they were released somewhere in the 90ies, need to replay them now, maybe i find out 6 is now the holy grail for me who knows, but i doubt it. MM7 was too well executed compared to the other ones.
Okay I see why the series died... Todd Howard was more welcoming to innovation with the Elder Scrolls and adapted when Bethesda was facing bankruptcy. Might and Magic in comparison died with the times, or sank and even after coming back, still didn't learn how to swim. There is no evolution with the franchise outside graphics, it also has that lame cheesy lord of the rings feeling. The series wants to be kid friendly but features death, gore, and partial nudity..?
Yeah, I'm watching MM9 and thinking how Oblivion came out the same year and Halo 1 was from the year before... it just couldn't compete. And 10 from 2014 was laughable... like, who was that for? People nostalgic for mid-90s gaming... or game engines? And as for aesthetic, I think it's something like... "1980s late-teens/early-20s nerds playing DnD horny as all hell (hence nude babes) but socially inept and cripplingly immature so it's decidedly kid-ish."

Can't wait to tell my son that I grew up on this: 5:55.
Best series in history of gaming.
You out did yourself great video TYTY .
6:46 I remember that moment like yesterday, good job :D
thats the best might and magic game in my opinion
Agreed. Would love it if they released a map maker for this game so people could remake it with new story lines!
How the hell do you kill Titans and Dragons that easily :O
i wish Ubisoft bring back the series for a new game. Gameplay like MM6 or MM7.
Ahhh MM7... love it!
I only played Might & Magic VII and it was great until the characters aged and got weak.
M&M X looks like a disaster, reverting back to grid movement.
Heeey, those are my videoes being used for MM7 Titans Tower and MM8s Temple off the Sun! Nice to see. :)
m&m 9&10 "it s ok guys , sorry we were drunk"
I love pretty much all of the Might & Magic games, except for M&MX, I refuse to acknowledge that game ever happened.
It really was something else when it came to the setting. Sword and Sorcery with ancient aliens and super computers.
Gameplay didn't change, but franchise still died, classic hypocrisy of the fans
6 and 7 were so awesome
Awesome video!! I didn't even know about 10! I really hope they fixed all that was so annoying about 9, that installment really caused my progress to stall with the series so I am hopeful that 10 will offer some redemption
M&M8 for me the bestest. Still listen to this soundtrack and reminds the Air Dimension.
Same here, on all counts
Its funny, I used to hate the save mechanic and needing to eat and drink. I remember getting my party through a horribly difficult dungeon (I think it was MM2) only to die from starvation one square away from the inn where I could save my game. Why they put this mechanic back in some current games I will never understand.
m&m 7 was my first rpg, and it was awesome!!
Saludos.
I spent the most time on MM3 - you had to really know your lore back then, if you wanted full rewards. And it had stuff like the jealous King who took out revenge for the Queen's affair with Smello the Orc....
would be a huge undertaking, but would love to see a video showcase every monster from the franchise
people have done more for other rpg series, this series should get more fans.
Going from six characters to four after Xeen, I was like "what the hell?"
Too bad you're not continuing the series, it's really good!
10 didn't deserve its hate. It was great in its own way.
Even so, 3 and 6 are my faves
As a PC gamer, I still gotta say MM2 was best on the Genesis.
I like Dungeon Master more than MM1 - MM4 series, even MM5 is kinda weird in comparison, but boy did they smacked the real thing right after that..
@@roxterat DM was excellent too. Really liked the skill system.
Ever play Wizards and Warriors? Or Wizardry 8?
World of Xeen (4+5) and MM8 are my favorites
Офигенное начало👍
Evolution rules us all. But it's beautiful.
i've played with the 6th one when i was a kid i didnt know what the heck is going on, and still dont know, this gampley is weird, however the Heroes series is god.
Yeah same. I always got stuck as a kid once I hit Free Haven, could never figure out where to go that wasn't way overleveled for me. I started playing it like a year ago and got much further, but it gets kinda boring and repetitive after a while and I never finished it.
I wish like this games to come back in 2024
Thanks for the vid!
Great series. Next to Ultima and Wizardry the biggest RPG franchise of 80's and 90's. Criminally neglected by Ubisoft.
lol MM3 had Ed-409s in it.
Robocop!
Им бы сейчас 6-8 части перерисовать с использованием современных технологий, и вышла бы супер рпг игра с открытым миром и потрясным сюжетом

@@arssuper7115 "They should remake 6-8 with modern graphics. That would be a SUPER RPG game with big open world and awesome story"
@@KeyleeTamirian thanks a lot my boy
Ubisoft have bought this great licence but they don't create any new game as mm6 & mm7, the two best games
if 3DO released MMORPG in 2000 - 2003 the gaming history could be changed forever
All about number 6!
I found 10 to be a disappointment. In 6-8, my go-to indoor spell was Sparks. Outdoors, I would have to run up to the enemy but then Sparks would still be very useful. Especially at higher levels. At a distance it was meteor swarm and Starburst.
Meanwhile, the antichrist is just kicking everyone around.
7 was best, hands down! Completed it like 40 times
Monks only baby
@@unconscious7219 I considered monks to be rather useless really. The Knight outclasses it in every way shape or form. But each to their own.
@testicular What are the odds, I've just started playing it AGAIN just a few days ago lmao. Mind magic can do a favor tbh, but I found spirit essential as I prefer melee to magic, so bless and heroism was very important for me.
I can't wait for M&M XI :)))
probably wont happen
Rival to Wizardy! and The Bard's Tale.
thanks, very useful video even though not the type of game i'd play. i'll stick to heroes might and magic :D
The perfect combination of might and magic
How did MM6 look better than MM7 and 8?
It doesn't, MM7 is a great upgrade of MM6 and even MM8 is a good continuing of MM series.
@@roxterat in fact no, MM7' textures are dogshit
both MM7 and MM8 dungeons look worse than MM6 for some reason
They reduced the pixel count on sprites from 256 to 128. Performance reasons suppodedly. Bad decision.
4 and 5 were my favorites
mm6-7-8 best games for sure
6 is the best. I love the photorealistic portrait, it's make me feel like I'm playing a home-made game made from newspapers.
Is this genre dead? Can't find anything that isn't grid-based or dungeon only anymore.
9:22 RIP
Out of the 10 Games, 3, 4 and 5 are the only ones I did not play
So sad, Ubisoft did not employ Jon van Canegham, the whole IP is going to real shits now. MM Chess Royale seems like the end.
You kill the Rat and Clean the Temple. No social.
M&M 4 and 5 is my favorites.. It's funny.
