Queen takes e5 forks the king and h8 rook. It doesn't matter whether he blocks with his bishop, knight or queen, we will just take the rook.
Qxe5+ Qe7 Qxh8
White is ahead in material by 6 points.
Hi I tried the f5 variation starting 8:54 and after Nb4 opponent abandoned the game!
Queen takes e5 pawn check then winning a free rock
That is the reason why there is a knight on c6 guarding that pawn...
super ...
Thank you :)
knight on g1 can move to h6 to protect the f2 pawn
But what happens if instead of queen f3 she takes e5?
answer to the question of the day: queen takes e5 check forks black king and the rook. The check can be blocked by either black queen, knight or bishop, after which the white queen will grab the free rook in the corner.
W.queen move to f3
No, that isn't correct. Queen takes e5 check is the correct answer, forking the king and the rook.
Queen e5 checkmate
Queen takes e5 check, forking the king and the rook. It's not a checkmate as the check can be blocked by either queen, knight or bishop.
Worst for black is to block with bishop. Queen takes rook, black bishop has to move to create an escape square for black king. Queen takes knight, black king escapes, then queen can exchange with black queen -- pawn rook and knight up. If black does not create an escape square then qxg7 is indeed #.
