The verse part sounds great if you play it clumsily but with good feel and let the notes ring out.
Another interesting thing is the change from Bb to C. In the pre-chorus it's late but in the chorus proper it's played straight.
I find that the chorus proper (D F C etc) sounds better low down than high up.
Great lesson. Short but sweet.
Ramones songs are such fun to play and great for practicing timing also.

Live version is completely different though. At least it was in 1990's.

A SUSPENSION! UA-cam gave me a one week suspension and took down my Halloween video at about the same time you made this video. UA-cam said I violated WHO guidelines or some health guidelines, something like that. I appealed saying that Joe Rogan talked about the same thing and he wasn’t taken down. But UA-cam denied my appeal and responded back to me in like 5 minutes. Thanks for the song! It’s one of my favorite Ramones songs! Did you remember it was my birthday? Take care, Ryan.

Would there be any adjustments to the way you would play it on acoustic?
I would think that you may get a more rich and full sound on the pre-chorus and chorus by switching those power chords out for either open chords or at least full bar chords. Which ones are major chords and which are minor will be pretty much immediately apparent,cuz mistakenly putting one where the other goes is going to sound incorrect to your ears. The results of switching to open chords tend to vary from song to song. It usually depends on the feel of the song,and what your right hand is generally doing. If that doesn't yield a satisfactory result,then bar chords will probably be more effective.
Also,when he tells you to play that F power chord on the 8th fret of the A string,I would just play it as a standard F on an acoustic.

HELP! The solo in this song has been breaking my brain, and I don't play guitar, my partner does. But I could swear I've heard that bit in many songs before, exactly like this, or a bit higher or lower, faster or slower. Is this like some kid of classic progression/riff? Is it a bit from a much earlier song that guitarists like to throw in here or there? It kind of reminds me of surf music in a way but it's also a bit spooky and I love it. Any thoughts? Does it have a name, like the Ice Cream Progression does?
