That was pretty nicely done! I highly recommend keeping your phone attached to you in that waterproof case. If you get separated from your kayak and its contents, you only have what you have on you. I also recommend a layered communication strategy, especially when fishing big water or remote waters. A handheld waterproof VHF radio is great in coastal environments. A PLB or subscription based satellite communicator is also a good idea. I keep an emergency ditch kit containing those items and other safety, survival and signaling equipment in a dry bag, out on deck in a float free location.
Very helpful - thank you. I’m not a video watcher (I prefer reading) but your videos hold my attention because your rich content is delivered with clear speech and pace.
So the next video I’m posting is tournament fishing accessories- I added a net to that list! I don’t always use one when I’m fun fishing! But ALWAYS during a tournament! Definitely something folks should consider !
I love your channel , dont stay away so long! 😭 it doesn't matter what your doing cooking, watching tv, taking shower....... . Just video it and put it on lol
I remember you demonstrating your auto fill pfd trying to catch something on your kayak and you didn’t have your safety switch on you torqeedo. Great video as always and great information
Those kayak kushions are a butt-saving game changer!! We sell more of those than any accessory, especially the days leading up to Chickamauga Lake tournaments. Is that fish scales on the one in this video?
Buying my first real fishing kayak this year. Been playing around in a Pelican sit in for a few year and it was time to step it up. All great items to have. Love your content and look forward to every new post.
Oh wow that is awesome congrats to you!! Hopefully the next few accessory vids help you with some ideas! Appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment
@@battlefieldoutdoors Right now the front runner is the Vibe Shearwater 125. It seem to be a pretty solid unit with plenty of room for upgrades, I can purchase locally and it's within my budget.
Awesome list! I have some version (some identical!) of each of these. I do tether my phone (also my camera) but also have a Savur Outdoors Gear Float attached to my phone, just in case! And I'm sorry to say I know the Savur does work (I also have them on my fishing rods). Thanks for the awesome post! Roger, The Smiling BassHole
I was listening to Girl from the North Country on a playlist for a TV series from several years ago. It sounded a bit like a mission planning tune to me. It made me smile for some reason, and think about kayak anglers.
Interesting. She has the best Kayak out there and still uses a cushion to sit on and Im sure she stands a good bit. That tells me Kayak seats could be made to be more comfortable.
@@kristinefischer2289 I have a Vibe Seaghost and they say the seat is comfortable. Its ok but also bought a seat cushion. I rent an Hobie Outback when I visit my Dad in Naples, that seat is better.

The VHF radio is great!!! And the ditch kit!

Wow, thank you!
My #1 would have to be a net! I’ve lost so many big fish at the side of the yak before I had a net. Great list!
So the next video

Make it a big one. I have a small one and when my fish jump off the measure board, they jump past my net.
@@tombosanko3085 haha that can happen. Always best to try and measure in the floor of the kayak.
Great presentation. Anxious to see you do well in this year's tourneys.
Thank you!! Lots of new water on the schedule so I’m excited !
Have never heard the sponge one before. Putting one in mine before I head out tomorrow, thanks.
It’s saved me and several others! Doesn’t take up much room! The marine grade ones are the deal, and they’re only like $7! Doesn’t hurt to have one

Great info thanks for putting in the work
You bet! Trying to get some of the most frequent questions I get knocked out in the next few days before I start doing fishing/tourney content
Nice article in Bassmaster Mag
Thank you!!
I saw you speak at mt Paran yesterday.
Yes that was me! I was so honored to be there! What a beautiful campus!
Fist like watching from Columbus Ohio
Hey thank you!!!

@@lilbugr1462 right on! Don't forget about the Hobie Passport 10.5, for only $200 more.

An accessory that many leave out, is the soundtrack needed to play, while putting it all together.
I was listening to Girl from the North Country on a playlist for a TV series from several years ago. It sounded a bit like a mission planning tune to me. It made me smile for some reason, and think about kayak anglers.
I keep a turkey baister to suck out my pole holders and a brush grabber on a line. Easy to tie off to a tree or dock or clamp to another yak.
Solid idea !
I have the old town sportsman 106 pdl. Their drive floats.
First thing I bought was a life jacket, paddle, seat cushion.
Right on track !!
Interesting. She has the best Kayak out there and still uses a cushion to sit on and Im sure she stands a good bit. That tells me Kayak seats could be made to be more comfortable.
Some days I sit the entire time, the hobie seat is the best seat out there, but man does it makes a difference having that cushion

Started looking at kayaks and I can’t believe how expensive they are!
They come in at all price points! Don’t have to get the biggest and baddest !
We think alike.
Great minds you know 😏
