    The "hand-setter I believe" is actually a hole punch for leather straps to add an extra hole. Great channel!

    Seriously looking at this since when I got my watch resized, not only did he put the pins in backwards, but he also put a few pretty deep scratches in the bottom link. Great vid!

    I have a slightly different version of that kit. Came here to see about the tools that weren't so obvious. Thanks. I'm going to play with a beat up Seiko 5 before I do anything to my SKX's.

    Big fan of your videos dude! I'd use this kit to modify my SKX007. It's my second Seiko but my first diver's watch, I have fitted a StrapCode Super Oyster to it so far, but I'm looking to go even further with a sapphire domed crystal and maybe a new bezel, after watching your modding video, so this tool kit would be super useful! Keep up the great videos

    I love your UA-cam videos. Always informative and they make sense. Always full of good advise. I have started collecting watches. I have a Seiko SNK807. Then I got a Seiko SARB017. I am ordering SKX007 and have ordered a hacking and hand winding movement, a signed crown, a new stem, am ordering a ceramic bezel and double dome sapphire crystal. I will need most of those tools when I do the mod. I will not do the hands. Will get a watch maker maker to do that. Mark

    I need these tools. I have a drawer full of old watches, some automatic, a lot of them quartz, fashion watches I bought over the years and would wear when I got bored with the Santos I wore back in my suit days. Looking for a cheap tool watch diver, I found my SKX007, replaced the Jubilee with a Strapcode Oyster and was tickled with it on my wrist. But the movement sucked. I started watching videos and found you to mod mine--on camera!--with a new, better, hackable, windable NH36 movement. While you had mine, I bought a Turtle Recraft SPRC15. Then I fell in love with the beautiful, and apparently hard to find, retro green face and "weathered gold" case of the Solar SNE448. You could say I've got the bug, getting into bands and bitten enough to pop the cases on some of what would otherwise just be dead junk in a drawer. One thing is sure, my perfected 007 remains my go-to watch, the perfect everyday workhorse and a joy to wear. And your videos continue to inspire.

    I purchased this kit based on your review and received it less than a week ago. Most of the tools are in good shape, however, the head of the hammer popped-off and three of the plastic posts on the watch holder don’t sit flush. I will contact the manufacturer for support.

    Great video as always man. I think the tool you don't know the use for, can be used to make holes in a leather strap. I have worked on some small engines and if there were no gaskets available for the engine you use a tool similar to that to make holes where the bolts go through. Only a bit bigger of course. Thoughts on this?

    Very informative video. I’m new to this hobby and stumbled across your Channel and have watched a few of your videos. You produce some great content. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the community. I’m sure you gave away the tool kit, but if it’s still available I would use it to resize a couple of watch bracelets and to start exploring various potential modification projects. As a beginner in the hobby, i only recently purchased my second watch, an Orient Blue Ray 11 which I really enjoy. Anyway thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Ed

    Your videos are great dude. (You have my SKX007 rn haha)
    If I could win that kit, I could clean up a vintage citizen watch I got from online. It has some particulates inside like dust but it works and I love to use it as a nice beater. You inspired me to get a vintage from one of your other videos. It'd be great for maintaining my newly formed humble watch collection.

    Hello, do you know if it's possible to upgrade a Seiko SNK809 movement to one that has hack+winding? i miss the winding fuctionality by turning the crown, and was wondering if it could receive a movement upgrade that had that feature.

    • @LumeShot
      @LumeShot  6 років тому +1

      I have yet to try it on my own, however if the stock crown and stem are removable from each other, it should be possible theoretically.

    I was just looking at a bunch of these kits on Amazon. I'm starting to get interested in the watch scene and thought I'd get a kit to sort of play around and get my feet wet. I noticed that many of the kits have the same parts, so identical they're probably made by the same manufacturer. And a lot of the reviews have the same complaints, about parts breaking easily. I just chalked that up to the tools being so small, I'd expect a certain amount of care to be needed so you aren't breaking things all the time. There are so many choices though, it's hard to filter through the actual junk and find a good one. Glad I stumbled across your video.

    • @LumeShot
      @LumeShot  5 років тому +2

      These definitely arent the best tools available. In the end, you get what you pay for. In my personal set of tools, they have been individually sourced and do add up to quite a bit. But, some of the tools shown, like the bezel remover, are still very useful for any modder of any skill.

    Not sure if you've gotten a response on it yet. But the tool you thought were a handset tool, is actually what I believe a tool to makes extra holes on leather straps.
    Great and informative video.

    And what about hands remover?

  • @Hobby-zn7ce
    @Hobby-zn7ce 4 роки тому

    The case back tool works well but is flimsy and annoying in its original form, especially the handle. To modify it simply take two small wire ties and loop one into each side of the slot above the handle. This will remove play and create a slight drag when turning the handle. To tighten the front two lugs, disassemble and remove .010" from each spacer. Note: front and rear spacers are different sizes. This mod will lessen the possibility of slipping and scratching the watch back.

    And there are many more tools. There are watchmakers lathes, gear machines and others. If you get in to making part you may not be able to get parts for. You will need to make your own custom parts. Machining reccesses, drilling precise holes or making gears
    Repairing by replacing parts is easy, majing your own frim scratch is not as easy as it sounds. Deference between a master colock and watchmaker and a watch repair persin are two different occupations or hobbies. Some of these tools are antiques. There are only about 6 000 watchmakers left in the world. There are many watch repair people.
