Oceanside Pier Fire | Full Chopper 8 aerials

Tourists and locals captured images of the iconic Oceanside Pier Friday, one day after a devastating blaze erupted at the end of the structure.
"We were in the middle of actually re-doing the concrete part," said Mayor Esther Sanchez. "That's like a $40 million dollar project. To have this happen, we're all brokenhearted."
She said she's already gotten calls from state and federal leaders, offering their support in rebuilding the pier.
Friday firefighters remained at the scene, watering down hot spots. The fire appears to have started in the old Ruby's Diner. So far, investigators have not determined what sparked the fire. The ATF is assisting in the investigation.
Oceanside Fire Chief David Parsons said fire crews from multiple agencies worked through the night and were able to save 90% of the pier.

The building has a history of electrical issues...I remember trying to go to Ruby's once years ago and it was closed due to electrical issues.

A history? All of the utilities were replaced for the entire pier a month ago, it took over a year.

What pollution? The restaurant closed 20 years ago. There wasn't anything in there to pollute the water. Just burning wood, electrical wires and trash from squatters.

Geez look at that mess. The restaurant is totally gone and that entire platform have to be rebuilt. So sad to see this. Tonight there's a Drone 5 Sky Flight and I want to see if the footage of this pier is there or if KUSI will say anything about the pier.

Let's make the pier vendor friendly...with a limit lol ...like it used to be back in the day down at the bottom. We need to repair this cheaply and use needed funds for our homeless ❤ teach a man how to fish ... With no permits ❤
