This has become one of my favorite channels, and criminally underrated at that. Interesting videos, talented guy, great presentation and a very nice voice to listen to!
I need a video about the aeolian flutes that sound with movement plssss!!! Really want to make one!!!!! I'm in love with your work
I'm working on it!
@@NicolasBras Yes please!! Such a cool concept.
I would love to have a blueprint on the aeolian flute that you spin.
The CD flute is another amazing discovery you have made!
Incredible. Thank you for making this. Going out on a limb here, but I’ve been playing slide whistle karaoke on UA-cam and Twitch for 6 years now. Thought you might appreciate it. Peace.
Thanks!
Definitely gonna experiment with the CD one
Update: I use clothespins to the hood them together(they work enough for good sound) to change pitch. And I noticed the sound is nice out of a cardboard christmas wrapping paper tube
Thank you! You made me see music in items I would've thrown out
That's the point, experimentations!
Oh !
very nice! i was hoping for some kids friendly build, for them to build it themselves, but the cutting can be done by the adults and the rest by them
thanks!!
CD flute...i make flutes on 11 years, but, no think this possibilite. Is very amazing for work to students and childrens. Congratulations for your job! Hugs from Brazil.
Truly incredible what you can do
I made a basic flute with the CD’s I had some PVC laying around after making a didgeridoo and it was the perfect addition to my wind instruments. Thank you so much for your videos I can wait for what’s next and what might give me inspiration.
Bagus😎
Haven’t seen a film container for so long. Flood of memory from such a simple item. I can still feel the feeling of popping the top off. Haha wild. 6:08
Fold a candy wrapper in half and squeeze the end really tight on either side and blow.
This is how I learned grass whistling
Hrm, these aerial flutes, and the mystery item whistle. Interesting. Now I want to try rigging something with a diabolo.
Un sommet de créativité. Bravo!
FELICITACIONES, HERMOSOS TRABAJOS, GRACIAS POR COMPARTIRLO. SALUDOS 🇺🇾
You cut up a film can? Oh man, that's a priceless antique! We used to make those from little tin cans when I was a wee boy. Also bullroarers from wooden rulers (but we didn't know they were called bullroarers!) Cheers mate, this was terrific. Now, where are my scissors?
nice! kids get so inventive whenever they’re bored. also i love your sow’s ear dulcimerette saga :)
@@bigboybeni Thank you Beni! I'm very glad to hear that. I hope you'll take a look at some of my other vids, I think they will make you smile. Cheers mate and stay healthy.
amazing music!
I love whistles!❤👍
I used to hunt Quail and I made a Quail call to aid in this. It was a small piece on metal bent in half with a piece of glossy magazine page for the diaphragm. When blown through easy, it reproduced the call of a Quail when in the proper cadence.
Dude, you and your ideas are just amazing!
wow, majestic
Legit... As always! Have you ever done anything with a Hurdy Gurdy?
Never thought i would have an interest in whistles but it was really cool.
Thanks for sharing this. Wonderfully creative ideas!
Excellent! Always a good day to get a notification from your channel.
OMG! so much information about whistles, thank you for sharing all of that with us! I will try to make the CD flute. very entertaining!!
How to make a survival whistle, when you’re lost in the wilderness with only a roomful of tools and supplies.
Thumbs way up!
Brilliant! 👏👏👏👏👏
Mind blowing great stuff
I love this creative channel
Excelente!
Just found your channel and really got lost in some of these videos - thank you!
Thanks for sharing
AMAZING WHISTLEMAN
"Ask your grandparents..." but... I'm only 54 years old, and I used those regularly when I worked as a photojournalist. Doesn't matter anyway, I don't have children.
Survival whistles! Perfect!
Yes! Just what I was looking for and Awesome video work also!
😊❤ love this
Very good
Amazing! congrats on your good work and thanks for sharing.
👏🏻👏🏻Fun assortment of of flutes and I enjoy your of humor about them 😄😄❤️
I really like the pvc bird call 👌🏽U need to try a diaphragm mouth call they use latex reeds to produce the sound simple to make at home
That's what they should teach in music lessons in schools - to talk about how you can make musical instruments yourself. And who needs to sing or play on something, then let them go to special music schools. I remember how we had simple singing, no frills. It was of little use. It would be better if they talked about notes, about the generation of sounds and the like, it would immediately become much more interesting.
Hey, a film roll case! i remember seeing how to make that whistle in a kids magazine back in the late 90s.
Toujours excellent Nico
Nice one. Great vídeo as always
love it!
Love the videos, keep it up!
Please make an ocarina from a flat plastic bottle. A whistle can be made by gluing two rectangular plastic plates with cutouts onto a bottle, according to the principle: “Like three DVD discs.”
your such a cool guy
cool man! back in early 90s during school sports day i think there was a diy whistle made from a film container + balloon + marker pen but i couldnt remember how to make it again haha
Not a whistle, but find a mini fridge, with a tray that collects condensation.
When it comes time to defrost it, let it melt, and once it's loose, take out the ice sheet, and drop it on a hard surface. The sound it makes is like breaking glass.
Haha ! Que du bonheur ! Merci ;-)
¡¡¡¡Muchas Gracias!!!!
Ive never heard the bell end of a pipe called a "tulip"
Learn something new everyday!
Thank you, I will try to build old-school rubber toy squeaker.
I’ve been binging your videos for awhile now, and still haven’t seen you blink! 😊
I cut a lot, my english isn't good enough to assume long phrases!
@@NicolasBras seriously wasn't being critical; love your work and find it inspirational!
I just knew there was going to be a good ol’ acorn top featured in the list, alas I was mistaken. acorn tops are excellent whistles!
About to make these and send them into alchemy, gonna sound super cool.
There's a lot more English speakers here.
You really need to do a collaboration with a builder of thermoacoustic engines - so many of your instruments could be adapted to function as part of one.
Nice 👌
Fantastique
genius and so funny!
Thanks!
This guy will have 1m subs
Yes I loved your Death Whistle...that was so cool. I should show you how to make a quail call that my dad taught me how to make when I was a kid. I taught our local Cub Scout how to make them and they loved them. I'm sure you could turn it into a musical instrument, it vibrates a rubber band between two halves of a branch with other rubber bands wrapped on both ends. It's super easy to make but it sounds pretty cool and very similar to your CD/Can flute.
Sure, would love to learn!
I will try to make a video over the weekend, I know I have one and I had my son make one. It’s pretty simple but I think in the hands of a master like yourself, you might be apply to an apply the concept into what you’re doing.
@@NicolasBras Ok I still haven't found the Quail Calls that I've made but they look just like what this guy made in his video except I cut the rubber band after tuning it. ua-cam.com/video/aooYTCv078k/v-deo.html
Haha… I have the same problem collecting instruments. Excellent.
Neat! I tried to come up with a joke and AOL because of the modem noise and CD but its not connecting...
Anyways cool video thanks for sharing your knowledge.
the cd flute? yo...that is dope. Because acquiring a good flute embouchure is so damn difficult.
Dial-Up... Nostalgia
Hours of fun for the whole family.
the cd whistle looks like sometihng from a post apocalyptic game like fallout, im totally trying that
To no offense of his accent, but I can't make out what kind of flute the spinning pvc kind is at 5:18. A diy on that would be cool. Really dig your vids man. Keep it up
Non taken! It is an aeolian flute, you can use the same building as the whistle with the three washers, just take a longer and larger pipe
Thanks for showing my demonstration of the ACME 575 dog whistle in my UA-cam-canal "noseflutejob"
Hey Nicolas, do you use stationary drills or a drill press? Carbide end mills and a soft-jaw vice have helped me achieve any angle in PVC.
Where i come the third one is called a bull whip and for our native people it was for calling rain
Do you have a clever way to make a nice feeling mouthpiece for woodwind instruments? I am making a electronic woodwind using a pressure sensor. I was thinking of just taking to bits a plastic recorder but I am looking for other ways to do it.
good stuff, Shepherds in wales been using them tin can whistles while they work, or is that whistle whistle you work, mmmm
In the first one, can you loosen and tension the strip to vary the pitch?
3:55 Literally the whistle from Nausicaä
Actually, was once taught how to use the 2nd type of survival whistle to call in teal ducks
Thank you.Can you make a tea kettle whistle? And use two plates in it, simple materials like washers, metal bottle caps, without glue. (soldering ok)
Only whistle part not the whole cap.
Well I was looking to make a 850 hz constant tone whistle for a bicycle and came across this.
Hey man, saw your video and spent the next 3 days trying to find them again. Aeolian Flute, PLEASE explain how to make one or their origin. Anything about them because when I Google about them I can't find the right stuff. stay well!
Whats is good flat whistle?
Or whistle that I can put on pole?
Hello Nicolas, could you please explain how to build a PVC eolian flute (5:29) I believe people love it! Thanks!
-
Merci !
please make an acoustic piano...
I have to try the CD one, and I have plenty of old CDs I never listen to.
More with less ,the ultimate economy- an idea ,I'd like, a whistle for camping ,around bears , more musical than the screamin one , high notes ! ..think sax
,,,plenty of choices , add a membrane, add a reed- or two , and water in the chamber... Thanks c yaz
Literally any sheet of paper or anything can whistle.
the filmcan-whistle should work with a large tin can in a similar way.
Heh heh. Witty. Very good.
How does called that snall spinning thing
3:58 [insert once in a life time by the talking heads here]
*Probably some people came to see **5:15** **_(and some seconds before)_*
My favorite simplest whistle is a rectangle piece of paper folded into a T shape with a hole at the bottom of the T while the horizontal bit of the T goes against your lips. You blow on it and it makes loud and super annoying sound.
