I'm not doing a project pan this year but I am doing usage goals. So 5 products I want to use 25 times in the year and 10 products 10 times this year. I find this works better for me so I can track how many times I use each product and since I only wear maybe maybe 2- 3 times a week and I have a large collection of makeup.
That's how I do my project pans, as well! I find usage goals easier to track and more motivating than visual progress in the items since I only wear makeup like twice a week. It feels so good when I make my little tally marks! Lol 😁
Instead of doing a project pan, I've decided to do something slightly different. I have a fairly small collection and I'm using everything organically except for eyeshadows. I have 8 palettes (125 eyeshadow pans) which is a lot for me. Most of them are old and I don't even know if I like them or not. So my goal for this year is to use all of my eyeshadows and form an opinion on each one of them. I am rolling in one palette at a time and depending on the palette my goals differ, for example the one I'm using right now I have a goal to use every shade 5 times and hit pan on one shade. Once I reach that goal I will roll in a different palette and focus on that one. The overall goal is to use everything at least once and I think that's possible.
I am doing something very similar! Using each eyeshadow and lipstick 10 times, each blush 20 times. If it's not performing well or I don't like it, I'll declutter it. If I hit pan during my usage period, it moves into a byop pan that pallette for when I'm done rotating through all my products.
For reference the kosas concealer took me 5.5 months including removing the stopper to finish from beginning to end. I also pretty much exclusively used it daily (or at least 5-6 times a week).
I do a "project pan" which kinda takes inspo from like a rolling full collection project, where every month I randomly generate 10 products to use 5 times a month and then roll them out at the end of the month. The goal isn't to use things up but just to get use from my products and if I don't meet the goal then I take stock, why do I think I'm not using this product and do I need to keep it. It works for me and it's really fun to pick 10 new products every month!
Hi Sarah! I have quite a curated collection of makeup and the way I make sure I get use of it all is to put new things in a makeup bag every Sunday. And what’s in there is what I will use for that week. Quite simple but it works for me. I also make sure to give away my regret purchases immediately so that someone else will enjoy it and get use out of it (a colleague of mine has a teenager who’s obsessed with makeup so she gets all of those things I know I won’t use). Love your videos!
@Mia Ohldin-- I do the same, only mine isn't a bag anymore, it's the top "drawer" section of a tiered storage trunk, that opens out to make a sort of vanity.
I don't do a project, exactly. I just work on certain products and even exclusively use that one thing until it's either gone or I hit pan. Really working on a blush from The Balm and it's taking freaking forever...I swear I am so close to pan!
I’m doing a rolling 5 project pan where I’m trying to hit pan or finish “harder” products like foundation, powder bronzer, powder blush, powder highlight and a liquid lipstick. And I’ve discovered the themed project pans so I will be doing the deck of panning project but with a goal of 10 uses on all the products so I can rotate through my collection!
Yes it's a ceramic pan on Kosas. It's taking me forever to empty now that I have pan but...we'll get there! Took me I think 9-10 months of only using Kosas Revealer Concealer to empty it, just did that a couple months ago. That includes removing stopper.
No project pans this year since I began panning! - I've finally used up all EXTRA makeup items and have a very minimal collection , but now I'm moving towards exploring indie/small business/eco makeup products here in Canada or finally treat myself to a 'worth the hype' high end product. I know that I might never have a collection of absolute favourites, but Id like to get pretty close or have items I feel good about.
I’m doing my first no buy this year for 2023 and hoping to use up a bunch of products! (Especially my Kosas stuff bc as mentioned they do go back so quickly). I already had to throw away my Kosas foundation because the smell was just too bad for me to trust. My bronzer is also starting to smell like old crayons so I’m working to get that done. 😊
I'm trying to use up the oldest products in my collection, including two eyeshadow quads and four singles. I know I won't finish them all by the end of the year, but they are old enough I may have to throw them out in a couple of years, so I am doing my best to get them used up. I have usage goals set for each month, and I am doing a monthly makeup basket so I don't neglect the rest of my makeup.
I’m well on my way to panning a translucent pressed powder, lip gloss, and lip pencil in the next few months 🎉 last year was so productive with panning that I actually don’t need to do it for a while 😅 I’m down to 1 or 2 of each item
I love that u gave yourself free this year , im also free with project panning this year , my goals is a bit different since im burned out from panning hard last year I decided to not really pan this year , I decided to go through my makeup collection and use everything with focus on few products and for next year i will take the products with most usage shown to pan and finish next year ! Its a long journey but i think i have to relax with panning ! Luv u ❤
I think your goals are realistic but will also be satisfying and allow you not to get in a rut. I am doing 13 products and its rolling but I have no gimme except maybe a hair oil - my aim is to have my BB cream and lipgloss done by end of February and then things will hopefully start to move in march but I have one of almost everything except highlight.
I have a fleet of lip products that I want to use up, okay a handful. Still really enjoying using what I have, and while I still bring in new things occasionally I have kept it minimal and that will be the goal. Thank you for the continued inspo and way to go on 20K subbies!
I am project panning by usage this year, I have 5 eyeshadows, 2 liquid eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer, and 1 lipstick. I chose to use each one 30 times before putting different products in the project.
I finished up a mini Becca highlighter a few years ago. I don’t know exactly how long it took me but I felt like it was a little easier than I thought and since you already have pan I think you can definitely do it!
Great video! I'm really excited about my project pan, it's about 10 products, mostly complexion a single shadow and a mascara. This past year I had to throw away two of my favorite beautiful lip glosses that just got old and went bad. I had been using them regularly but wasn't able to empty them before I had to toss them. It's definitely a reason to try not to accumulate too many products. I'm choosing to be content and love what I have.
Good luck with your panning! I always find your ability to work through product so inspiring. I'm doing a project pan this year with 43 items in it. 15-20 of those are samples that will still take me a week or so to go through. The others are minis with only a couple of full size items. I've got all year to work on them, and hopefully use them up. 🙂
Prediction: lots of Kosas products in Project Pans this year. 🤭 Last year I panned/finished multiple lip products and two blushes, to the point where some of my real favorites were neglected - and are probably getting close to expiration. I think I will take a panning break for at least a month, just to enjoy what I have and see what I want to do. (I do already rotate palettes and singles regularly, and will continue.)
Best of luck, Sarah! I think you're structuring your project pan very smartly. My overly abundant categories are lip products and eye shadow. I plan to finish a few lip products, some Colourpop super shock cheek products that have serious pan already, a mini powder blush with pan, and I know I will use up at least 5 eyeshadows this year. I'm also going to rotate between palettes each month, and I hope I can bump my pan percentage from 14% to 20%.
I think this is the year where I’m not hate panning 😂 last year I did finish more products than I decluttered so I’m glad about that. My collection has gotten small enough to where I can get rid of one or two products I’ve given a fair shot at and still hate.
I’m doing my first project pan this year - thank you for all the advice from your previous videos, they will help me with this ❤ I have chosen 12 products, out of which 10 I want to use up and 2 just to hit pan. I have 3 eyebrow products, I know you don’t add this type of category to your projects. I sort of have to do it, because I have too many products, my eyebrows being so sparse… 😢 Good luck with your project and I can’t wait for your next updates ❤
I am so excited for your project this year! For my project I am working on my Kosas concealer, Rare Beauty lip gloss, and an eye shadow from Charlotte Tilbury!
I am doing this project.. my products are all pretty ambitious, but this is my first time so I'm excited. Inventory is done, and next is project pan intro..
I’m doing a project pan this year. I’m super excited about it. I have a few items I didn’t finish last year that I want to get done this year plus a few more items. I’m in a few other projects too but they’re new to me and I’m super excited for it!❤
The refresh is a good way to make sure you're getting to enjoy seasonally fun products, and that's what I'm doing too, sort of-- picking 4-6 products per month to build my daily face around. I don't have much I feel need finishing but rn, I'm am using a pencil shadow/liner that is pretty old, from Ardency Inn, so... using it for the last times, probably.
I‘m doing a rolling 10 project pan this year, focusing exclusively on my non cruelty free products. I went cruelty free about 1,5 years ago but still have a ton of non-cf products left from before, that I want to start working on. 🤗 Really excited to follow along with your project pan as well!
For my project pan this year, I'm mainly concentrating on cream products. I had been neglecting my cream cheek products after falling in love with face palettes. I'm not worried about powder products since they last far longer than cream or liquid. I know I'll be able to finish two tinted moisturizers by April. I'm doing a no-buy until Sephora's spring VIB sale.
Have a you tried the makeup forever hd skin foundation? I absolutely love it and they sell it in a mini at Sephora. It's so lightweight but covers well
Im doing a “project 10” for my color cosmetics (besides lips) and I am realizing that it takes a long time to use something 10 times! I’ve been doing this project since the middle of October and have so far only used my 5 bronzers 10x each, and 4 highlights/illuminators 10x each. Still working on it and curious to see how long it will take because my collection is fairly manageable. :)
Hi Sarah. I have a lipgloss I’m trying to use up, and I think it’s time to remove the stopper…but idk how to remove it. Can you do a video on how to remove stoppers from lip glosses and concealers?
My kosas concealer started smelling like blue cheese around the 4-5 month mark. I live in a warm climate, so it probably turned faster. Watch out for a bitter smell.
You’ll know right away about KOSAS cream products going bad - the smell is strong and awful, almost an ammonia odor. I had to declutter both my concealer and foundation before I barely used them - huge bummer. I probably won’t repurchase for that reason alone
I'm not doing a project pan this year but I am doing usage goals. So 5 products I want to use 25 times in the year and 10 products 10 times this year. I admire you for using up your products before replacing them.
I'm doing my first project pan this year and you already know that you've been a huge inspiration to me :)
Omggg I can’t wait to watch and follow along with yours!

This year I'm doing a Pan In Every Palette and Project Polish.
The new background is just GOLD!

The smell of my milani cream brush changed very fast. It's a good idea to piority to pan it first. ❤️
Oh no!!

I've used up two lip liners as blushes now! I highly recommend. They last all day and you will use it up very quickly!
ooh I can't wait to try it!

Morning! Watching this at 5 am getting ready for work!
Thanks for watching, Jillian!
I think you are going to crush the lip products!
Yay, you got this!! Good luck ✊
It took me about four months of daily use to finish the kosas concealer, and it does settle!
It took me about 170 uses to pan the kosas concealer.... but once you do have significant windowing the product settles pretty well :)
ah that's very helpful to know!! thanks!
You could mix the lipliner with the Charlotte Tilbury product and/or the concealer to get a creamier consistency for using it as a blush. 🌸
My kosas revealer concealer took me 8 months to finish and that includes me taking the stopper out so excited to see your journey with it
I am mentally preparing myself for it to take all year 🤣
I can't wait to see your progress on these products! I definitely think you can hit pan on the Natasha denona shadow by February
I’m doing a project pan this year. I’m super excited about it. I have a few items I didn’t finish last year that I want to get done this year plus a few more items. I’m in a few other projects too but they’re new to me and I’m super excited for it!❤

Have a you tried the makeup forever hd skin foundation? I absolutely love it and they sell it in a mini at Sephora. It's so lightweight but covers well
I don't think they're cruelty free unfortunately :( I've heard great things about their foundations though so I hope to be able to try them someday!!
Happy New Year, beautiful Sarah 😍
My kosas concealer settles in the bottle, but I've used it 92 times so far (I keep track) and it probably still has 1/3 left
Im doing a “project 10” for my color cosmetics (besides lips) and I am realizing that it takes a long time to use something 10 times! Happy new year!!
So excited!!❤❤️❤️🤍🫶🏻
Always look forward to your videos. Made my bf wait to put on our show till I finished watching you lol.
Aww haha thank you for being so dedicated!😄
Exciting!! 🥰
🎉🎉🎉
I love that Rebecca Morgan has the same goal (use half of the product) on the Milk makeup bronzer stick. Great minds think alike :D
The Kosas pan is like a terracotta kind of disk.. I dropped one early last year and it cracked.
ohh interesting!!
My kosas concealer started smelling like blue cheese around the 4-5 month mark. I live in a warm climate, so it probably turned faster. Watch out for a bitter smell.

With the Kosas concealer I used it soley for about 4 months and had about a third left….however mine turned at 4 months so I couldn’t finish it
