What an awesome night. I was in Sky Ryders and was humbled to be on the same field with so many talented people.

I'm 2nd back on the left side of SCV colorguard. What an interesting night. I remember standing in the tunnel while BD performed. We were going on last since we were defending Champions. Our teeth were chattering it was so cold but we forgot all about that the second we were standing ready. I think someone from the hornline loudly stated "Get your E-TICKET READY!" God bless SCV where you're a Champion even when the placements say otherwise. There's no place like Santa Clara

Hi I was in BD in 1982 and of course we were on before SCV and had not been defeated all summer. I must say that when we were waiting to go on the field for retreat and listening to you all, out of the corner of our eyes, we saw you all begin the bottle dance and the crowd was so loud we could not hear the horn line. At that moment I admit that a slight shiver of doubt about who would win that night went through my mind... I aged out that night and will always remember you all turning to us and playing "Send in the Clowns" before you left the field. Thank you for your class SCV and all the members.

Thank you, Carol. Gail Royer certainly knew how to teach us humility and to be grateful. What a night it was for all of us. Glad our two CA powers were at the top that night.

@@kckosciolek4207 - SCV classy winners and classy also when they came did not take first place / win. I marched Spirit of Atlanta 79, 80, and 81 and remember in 81 sitting in the back row watching SCV 81 march so perfect and making a goal to be in SCV in 82. I did not know that at the time the horn line was all boys. Anyway, I remember being on the field in Spirit at retreat and turning my head when SCV won and looking for even a slight amount of movement.... breathing.... there was nothing... so still and so refined. Congratulations...

This was the worst coverage for a DCI broadcast. They talked even during all top 12 performances.

Who’s Rondo’s cohost-the guy who clearly knows nothing about drum corps…or Rondinaro’s name? 🤦🏻‍♂️ Cheapened the commentating for me.

I'm sorry, but I hate this format. Speaking during the announcement of the scores. Totally takes the excitement of the moment away and is extremely distracting. Steve's co-host, didn't care for him. This is actually the first televised championship score announcement I really didn't like , lol.

yesorlando05 Steve didn't really get a co-host who cared until Michael Cesario came in.

@@Mark-sj3xb Michael was before (and after) Curt. I enjoyed Curt's genuine if uneducated enthusiasm and obvious appreciation for corps, but Michael was the embodiment of knowledge and over the top energy. He and Steve were the masters of spontaneous exciting commentary.

Don't forget he also had Don Angelica as a co-host in '85 and '86. One of the original founders of DCI, I think. His commentary was pretty good, although he basically adjudicated them on the telecast! I remember after one corps (maybe '85 Suncoast) he bragged on their brass but called their percussion "tolerable" or something to that effect.

Rob McConnell was sort of a tool in this broadcast.

ya cause he had no idea what this little marching band stuff was all about, im sure he was gracious enough to accept an invitation to speak about a niche activity that virtually next to no one in the real world has ever even heard of. Of course his tune T.O. just accents how much a tool he was....jack ass
