Hi Joe Right place at the right time . Nice to unwrap something and finding out it belongs on the Antique Roadshow , or your in world Vinyl Gold . I'm catching on to your enthusiasm and appreciation for great record finds . 2 BD's as well. Great haul . Best always Peter .
Agreed. By the way, for some reason I can't find that mp3 file I used for the audio that you liked. Somehow it disappeared. If and when I find it, I'll let you know. Apologies!
I would say this is a decent haul. Now, I do not know what the future will bring, but over the past Three years I have had at least 8 major hauls. by that I mean 100-200 great records all at one Place each time. I try not to ever take vinyl scores for granted because more and more People are getting into vinyl and who knows, maybe I will never score big again. My last haul was 400 records bought off a guy in my street who was willing to sell every last rcord he owned a month back. Most of it had never been played and the sleeves were also in Perfect condition. I sold the 150 records I did not want and by doing so I payed less than a dollar on avergae per album of the remaining 250 that went into my 1650 Lp Collection. Classic rock like Jethro tull, king Crimson, Queen, Clapton etc. Your haul is a solid one, and condition is extremely important. Most of them look great. The ringwear on Miles is a bummer, good that was the only one With such visible wear. Getting Miles Davis on vinyl in great condition is always very sweet.
The Vinyl hall of fame..I like that, I might steal it! Joseph, I could have sworn in your first video you said something like 'here is my record collection, I have no plans to extend it'. And ever since then all you seem to have done is buy hundreds of great records! Thanks for sharing. By the way, I recently picked up the 180 gram reissue of LA Woman, and it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. The George Harrison album you have there is from 1979 and was something of a come-back album for him. There is a track on it called Not Guilty, which was originally written and recorded with the Beatles during the Let It Be era, but never released. George re-recorded it for this album. I'd be interested to hear what you think of Abacab. It's widely regarded as the last 'credible' Genesis album. The Charlie Christian album looks great. Cheers, James
Hi James, yes "Haul" of fame, I thought that was rather clever. I sort of regret saying that I wasn't planning on extending in a previous video. I've just picked up a few more new records plus a five album Motown box set yesterday. So much for that. Must have more records. I have become more discriminating what I acquire however. I do want to spend some more time on my own songwriting and recording though, which I plan to share on this channel at some point. Yes, LA Woman is some album. A real classic. Thanks for the info on the George Harrison Album. That is interesting. I did read up a little on it but did not know about the Not Guilty track. Looking forward to listening to it. I will let you know what I think about Abacab as well. Should be interesting. Cheers, Joe.
I listened to the George Harrison album and thought it was great. I did recognize a couple of the hits on it like "All I've got to do is be happy". However, I found the whole album to be exceptional and very listenable from beginning to end. Not Guilty is also very good. Excellent album from George.
Joseph Herman Yes, it is very enjoyable. The song you quoted from, Blow Away, is really one of his best. He said he was inspired to write the song after emerging from a prolonged depression, and having remembered his religious convictions. With George, it's helpful to remember that nearly everything he writes (particularly the apparent 'love songs') are actually part of an on-going dialogue between himself and God. There's a song on Cloud 9 called 'Fish in the Sand' which, unless you'd read up on it, sounds like a song addressed to a girl. But in fact, once again, he's addressing God - 'If I can't be with you I'm not so much of a man as a fish on the sand'. He was a very devout man! Cheers, Joseph. I haven't watched your latest couple of vid's yet, I'm away on holiday.
Btw, Soft Hearted Hana is something of an exception (from that George Harrison album) from the God thing - that song is actually about magic mushrooms!!
It's all about being first. I'm sure this kind of donation lot isn't rare. What is rare is to be the lucky person to be first to dig in! Love that Jackson 5 anthology! Since there's jazz and rock, and that Police album completing your collection, I'm 100% sure this box came from the SAME donor that gave the records from your 6/26/2016 score. You know what that means, right? Keep going back to that store regularly! You might find the other Doors albums that fit between the 2 you got in this lot!
Yes, agreed. What is rare is being there first, it does not happen often. Good point, it could have been from the same person. Would like to fill in the Doors in between. Cheers.
NOTES WHILE WATCHING: The Doors' debut was one of the first albums I ever had on vinyl along with Sgt Pepper and other gems. L.A. Woman was not their last album, they released Other Voices and Full Circle after Morrison's death, and they added instrumentals to Morrison's spoken voice poetry recordings called An American Prayer. I'd never owned Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits, so I never knew it came with a poster! Very cool! Hot Rocks is one of my favorite compilations from any band, I own it on cassette. I'd love to own it on vinyl, but I'm afraid it's not in my budget. The cassette will do! When I saw that Hey Jude, I remember telling someone that there's no album with Hey Jude on it (because they asked to borrow some of my Beatles records for school and wanted one with Hey Jude) and I was mainly talking about the UK albums since those are more popular. I saw that you got that Wings Over America for $20, and I actually got my copy for $1 at this flea market. Funny, because the guy who ran the vendor I bought it from had a whole crate of VERY expensive gems like original pressings of famous albums. He had another section of $1 records, and the Wings album was there! And I stopped there in the video because I mostly just wanted to see the rock albums. GREAT findings! Keep up the collecting, mate!
Hey there, thanks for commenting. The records after Morrison died, are they any good? Yes, the poster was a nice surprise. Actually, I didn't get the Wings over America for twenty bucks, it just had a $20 sticker on it. I actually got it for a buck a vinyl. Since it has three records in it, I got it for $3. Same with Hot Rocks (2 records) although I have seen it sell for a pretty penny out there. Actually, there are more rock albums after the Miles Davis and Stevie Wonder. Cheers!
Joseph Herman I've only listened to Full Circle (lots of jazzy groove that was apparent in the rest of their albums) and An American Prayer (mixed between interesting and disturbing).
Joseph..I just tripped onto your channel and subbed..I have one on here as well called Psyko's Platters and when u have time check out a show or 2 and if inclined like and sub as well please thanx. Now your video....WOW...lots of great stuff here I have been a Doors fan for ages and got cool stuff here,Bowie, Dylan Stones,Beatles n solo..although I will admit never seen the Flowers In The Dirt vinyl and heard is tough to get? Really good Miles and Stevie...imo Hotter than July was the last good LP Stevie made.Nice Elton....that Ghost In the Machine was the first album I had listened to of the Police and made me a fan..Charlie Christian and that Jackson 5 Anthology.....You did great..great stuff great vid thanx for sharing and take care
Hi there, thanks for watching and thanks for your comment. I am glad you enjoyed my video. I can see that you have a lot of cool videos on your channel with a lot of interesting vinyl to see. I am watching one while I type and I look forward to watching more - however there's a lot there, so it might take a while. If you like Buddy Holly, in another haul, I picked up a really interesting Buddy Holly box set. Look forward to seeing you around. Cheers, Joe.
Very nice haul, I would've bought them all, except for the few I already had, never heard of Christian, but good jazz is never bad (was that a rhyming haiku)? Just curious what city you live in with these thrift stores, you sound kind of New Yorkish. No good thrift store action in Toledo.
wow! what thrift store do you shop at? I've never found a score that big at thrift shops. everything you picked up is killer. i've never heard of charlie christian tho, i'll have to track some down.
Joe Herman 2 of the most underrated albums of all time for sure. The song tightrope ride from other voices could easily be in a top 10 doors songs. Other voices is really good. Full circle is not as good but still good. Other voices is amazing tho. 9/10 other voices. 8/10 full circle
strawberry fields Mr Blue Sky 123 Thanks for the info. I started to listen to the second one but got just as far as the first track. Before I had to leave. I've been meaning to get back to them. What about the record with the poetry of Morrison. What do you think of that one? Isn't that the third one? American Prayer or something?

Not Guilty was from the White Album sessions. It should have made it on it too!

Hi there, and thanks for checking out my video! Yes, this was a really nice trove of records I came across. Just started listening to them.
Hush! Never reveal your sources of scores! ;-)
Hahaha, I'm too honest. I give everything away.
La woman is their last studio WITH morrison. But they released other voices and full circle after morrison passed away.
strawberry fields Mr Blue Sky 123 Very true. What do you think of the post Morrison albums?
