The Anthem is my absolute favorite acoustic guitar Pickup. It sounds good in everything. I agree ..and I have three acoustics with LR Bagge Anthem PU's. All are great.
Enjoying your acoustic video’s very much the guitars sound so full and rich just getting on acoustic electric I installed the LR Baggs Anthem SL in my Epiphone Masterbuilt, I’d say a Fishman Mini will be next on my list
Hi Gary, I’m about to install a anthem pick up in my d18. Now I see two different sounds the one from just the amp and the eq pedal. I thought the anthem is just plug and play. Do I really need an extra pedal to get the sound or can I use the settings from the amp? Thanks
I do like Baggs align eq a lot. I use it mostly for the single knob notch filter for anti feedback. It is so fast and easy to find the offending frequency and doesn’t kill the tone of the guitar. I actually use the baggs Align Session pedal more lately. It has a great presence and adds a bit more punch. Feel free to email me for more specifics. Gairman1@gmail.com
Hi Jack, I find the Anthem is reasonably honest in terms of reproducing the sound of the guitar. I might suggest strings that are warmer. The EQ pedal can certainly tame and reduce 10K and 2K frequencies. You can always try one from a store with a good return policy like Sweetwater. I might suggest you ask yourself is the guitar bright to begin with? I don't have the Anthem SL. I only have the Full Anthem. There is more adjustability in terms of dialing the Trumic level to what you like and blending the Element UST with the TruMic. That said, it will likely still be bright.
@@jackbandel Hi Jack, That's hard to answer. The best I can share is some strings I've tried that are 'less bright.' FYI I never tried Monels or Martin Retro's but they did sound rather woody and more organic when I demoed them on guitars in local shops. I am currently demoing some DR Rare strings and they seem nicely balanced. Brightness might also depend on how you play and the pick you are using. Thinner picks sound bright to me. Try a 1.0 or 1.4mm Dunlop Primetone and see if that helps warm things up?
Thank you. At the time I made this demo I was using Martin Lifespan Phosphor Bronze. Not the newer Lifespan Authentic's. I use Mediums .013 - .056. I am currently settled on good old Daddario Ej17's for the most part. They always sound great to me
Thanks Mark. I Love the Align EQ. It is very natural at its flat setting. The Notch Filter is pure magic. Very easy to dial out the offending feedback frequency and it doesn't kill the tone like a lot of notch filters. The EQ is very flexible and easy to shape your tone. My suggestion is to subract the tones you dislike. I almost never "boost" frequencies. I simply take away the tones I don't like.
@@mzmudy I actually have the Align Session on my board too. Works great as a clean boost for Solo's, or for overall tone enhancement, I use the compression and saturation at very low settings on the Align Session. (9 o'clock-ish) I'll do a demo of it sometime soon.
Hi Gary just got myself a similar set up just this week, except I have a Fishman Rare Earth Blend pickup on a Martin 000-15. So just playing around at the moment. I wanted to ask what you do with the amp eq. Cant see it clearly on vid but do you adjust the eq to a way you like on the amp minus baggs eq and then do finer adjustments on the baggs? Many thanks for guidance.
I have actually stopped using the Baggs Align EQ. My acoustics all have the LR Baggs Anthem PU and these sound so good and natural, I found I can make EQ adjustments on the amp if needed. Mostly I gig through a Bose L1 Pro 8 tower for my shows and I just dial in the treble and bass on the Bose L1 Pro 8 and I'm good to go. On this Fishman Loudbox Mini (and every other Fishman Loudbox amp) I always dial down the midrange EQ to its lowest level. That sounds best to me. Low EQ on the amp is usually at noon or a little less. Treble is usually at 11 o'clock or noon. Hope that helps.
Thanks for all of your great demos Gary. You are very objective and there is never any hint of bias and that is a valuable quality!
Thank you for such kind words. I’m glad my demos are useful.
Gary, your demos reveal a great understanding of amplifying acoustic guitar. Your tone provides me with a reference each time I listen. Thank you 🇦🇺
Beautiful playing
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. Going to add one of these into my D18 soon!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching
Very rich and clear sound.
The Anthem pickup sounds great in any amp. It’s hard to make it sound bad. I put one in a $400 guitar and it made it sound amazing!

You can plug straight into your PA or amp. The Anthem is very much plug and play.
do u flatten the EQ on the fishman? (12 o'clock).. and just set it on the LR Baggs EQ?
and do u mix it in a DAW for this record? or straight Loudbox and a Camera?
@@ichsan.x - This was straight to the Camera - NO mix down at all
Have you tried the LR Baggs Align EQ with the Bose S1? I was thinking of getting those too.

Gary Roberts I need the pedal more for sound shaping.
Benjamin DeMers in that case it’s good for sound shaping. Very clean.
Gary Roberts I wanna see what you think of it with the Bose S1
Gary, I have the Anthem SL in a 000 Martin and it’s very glassy and bright sounding. Would this pedal help with that?

@@gair1944 what strings have you found “warm” sounding.
