It's one if the better high grades and it inspired me to do the first paint job I have ever been proud of. I ended up stealing the dry transfers kanji from the old HG and putting them on the new one and it turned out so cool.
The one that comes with the Gundam Base Gryphios War set is imo the best looking version of the kit, nice metallic sheen and not a fingerprint magnet like the gold plated one.
Oh man, I love this kit. Picked it up on sale because I had just finished a Zeta rewatch, and despite looking like it had been rolled in crusty mustard, it actually brought me around on the MS. I always hated Hyaku Shiki in the anime because I really hated the idea of a big golden war machine flying around as part of a guerilla unit. Until I built the kit, I had never really examined the design beyond the color, but putting it together made me realize how much I like the shape of everything
You’re going to think I’m crazy, and I haven’t even watched the entire video, I’m only a minute and 30 seconds in, but I have a soft recommendation for you, there is a high grade of the hyakishiki from many years back, but it’s gold chrome, this thing is shiny as all hell and a total fingerprint magnet. I want to say that it is pre 2011.. maybe 06
Bandai kits always look better on the box since it's always a painted display piece. Also, I'm happy it isn't plated since that makes the price shoot up. I.E. the 2.0 Shiki is 90 bucks vs. any other mg around its size being 40 to 60 bucks. So I'll take the slightly weirder look for a cheaper kit I could paint any day.
HG Hyaku Shiki Revive is essential the MG 2.0, but more accurate to the lineart Now if only Bandai would make an updated MG Hyaku that actually had this shade of gold instead of that really bland gold
I bought this kit about a year ago just to practice candy paints technique and was surprised how good a little kid it is. I usually stick to master grade.
If you find the time tell your viewers how to paint chrome and use transparent yellow for great gold. I dont thinkw we're ready for priming yet... Like always love the vid
My absolute favorite non Gundam MS. Shoutout to anyone who remembers how in Gundam vs Zeta Gundam the Hyaku Shiki didn't have a melee weapon, and instead would bust out Tekken style punch & kick combos.
Not your usual video, but would you be willing to give a walkthrough of how you purchase on buyee. I've had a look around before and found some kits i'm interested in but was a little confused by the process after that. I guess I'm worried I'll only find out about some huge shipping cost after making my purchases.
I was thinking that the model was looking a but taller than most. After looking it up, yup, that's a tall mobile suit. It's even taller than the Seed suits which to my knowledge are kinda tall. I am definitely getting the kit and put some decals on it. It does not look as old as it is.
I love this kit, even tho he gold is not preferable. Trust me, the more you play with it, it will grow on you (that's wha she said). It's so posable and easy to custom. Plus, some of spare RG MkII works on it. Honestly, the only thing I can say that I hate about it no backpack connector for the Rifle unlike the Bazooka
love this kit. yeah its like hyaku cheesy lmao. the engineering makes for a fun build, especially with how they try to hide the nub marks for the gold plating. but the gundam base gold plated though. BLING GUNDAM!!! i actually got that first before the normal one because i visited the thailand gundam base and wanted to buy something nice with leftover thai baht
i hit all the gold parts on mine with a glossy topcoat before i assembled it and it came out looking incredibly tacky, which tbh fits Char pretty perfectly
I think they used some of this kits in the Gundam Amazing Red Warrior Model Kit from "Gundam Build Fighters Try". Personally if anybody is going to customize this kit, I would think that gold and metallic red would go very well with each other. Probably a little bit of black. Now I'm thinking of it those are the colors of iron Man's armor.
Im also watching zeta gundam right now, im on about episode 34 and its actually amazing. just bought the real grade zeta gundam for thanksgiving break (i know you said it was your 2nd least favorite real grade but oh well)
To be honest, I prefer that coating they used on the MG MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki [Ver 2.0], and I hope Bandai chooses that if (or when) we get an MG for ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam. I presume an MG ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam is coming since the RG is confirmed.
If they do an RG, there won't be any MG coming as that'll cannibalise the sales of the RG. Bandai is incredibly picky about their choices with MS that aren't the main protagonist's MS.
I shouldn't be watching this. I'm going through Z Gundam, as well, and been fighting getting any of the kits as I'm still building Wing, SEED, and IBO. So many good designs.
A lot of the all-Gundam project and revive HGs had full inner frames for the limbs and waist, just not the torso. That's why I wasn't super impressed by the HGCE Duel Blitz and Lightning Buster - the HGCE Aile Strike was already like 75% there in terms of the frame for half the price.
I finally got a kit before you reviewed it? 🤣 I win! That aside, I painted mine gold. If you have an airbrush I recommend the "green stuff world chrome gold". It's fantastic.
@crizy5555 yeah that's literally the only downside of this kit, and it's really not that bad in person. Not to mention the easiest thing to fix. I've built both kits.
I've built RG Phenex and those ancient chromed original MGs. Also built chromed HG Phenex and I wanna say...chromed plastic is overrated. Given the option I skipped MG Hyaku Shiki for my Gryps War team for the 2.0 and the satin gold looks so much more incredible than the chrome, especially when you add the dry transfers. That's why I have no problem with the Shiki Revive. If I wanted more I'll just throw some gold on it, otherwise for an HG it's perfectly acceptable in my eyes.
I built this once and the only thing that undermines this somewhat awesome kit is the injection gold. I can't even panel line it properly because the ink doesn't adhere to the surface like on normal polystyrene
Yeah, I bought this on an impulse at th mall... and then I got home, 2 hours away, and finally opened the box. Same as you, I was disappointed about the gold and thinking about just gifting away the kit and finding a plated version lol this is what I get for not buying the Zeta Team 3-pack on P-Bandai
Injected gold and the foggy clear are my least favorite colors. This is one of my favorite suits and I think the MG 2.0 is the best balance between the very cool but high maintenance chrome gold, and this kind of injected gold.
its funny, im not the biggest fan of zeta designs, i do like the zeta and the hyaku shiki, but most of the time i just think they look dumb or bland. but with that being said, i dont think this model looks bad at all, i quite like the injection gold on it. i feel like it represents the hyaku shiki far more than the gold we get nowadays. since in the anime, its meant to be golden, but it never really comes across as a shinny gold.
You should review the MG 2.0, I got it recently when I went on a trip and I was looking forward to a review from you but just like this Sazabi Ver Ka, I guess I gotta get lucky

I always hated Hyaku Shiki in the anime because I really hated the idea of a big golden war machine flying around as part of a guerilla unit. Until I built the kit, I had never really examined the design beyond the color, but putting it together made me realize how much I like the shape of everything
I love the Hyaku Shiki/Delta Gundam series, and have bought every variant I can find. I am hoping to see a RG Hyaku Shiki some day.
This kit is amazing the only thing you have to worry about is the antenna that’s it it’s a solid 9/10
I want to say that it is pre 2011.. maybe 06
The injection gold doesn’t look terrible OOB, but it looks better with a Matte coat applied.
HG Hyaku Shiki Revive is essential the MG 2.0, but more accurate to the lineart
Now if only Bandai would make an updated MG Hyaku that actually had this shade of gold instead of that really bland gold
They kinda did, but you'd have to get the PBandai MP Hyaku Shiki 2.0 and turn it into the regular Hyaku Shiki. 😅
@@altairofastoraI've built that and repaired the antenna once so far.
Is it just me or who else remembers when Mecha Gaikotsu said he has the DIASYOGRE ALTER in the backlog?!?
I bought this kit about a year ago just to practice candy paints technique and was surprised how good a little kid it is. I usually stick to master grade.
If you find the time tell your viewers how to paint chrome and use transparent yellow for great gold. I dont thinkw we're ready for priming yet... Like always love the vid
I like the color on there because it reminds me of using it in the Mobile Suit Gundam versus Zeta Gundam PS2 game. Always throwing out them air kicks.
I put a High, I mean HIGH GLOSS coat on it, looks pretty good actually with a gloss coat on it
My absolute favorite non Gundam MS.
This is actually one of my favorite kits that I own 😊
I was thinking that the model was looking a but taller than most.
Oh yeah, this is the kit that got me to learn how to paint.
I have a limited edition version of this. It came with a limited zeta and mk 2 as well. The hyaku was a really nice reflective gold
Funny. I built this kit last week also. T'was very enjoyable
That is a shade of a more ambery caramel like "gold" that I haven't seen since Bandai America's Gold Ranger from Power Rangers Ninja Steel...😮😮😮
Drinking challenge: Take a shot every time Mecha mentions the gold plastic
My golden boy, he deserved so much more than endig up being piloted by Beecha.
Amazing Red Warrior is based on the RX-78-2.
You might have been confused with the Lunagazer which uses this kit as a base.
Hey Mecha, could you do a video of all the gundarium tiers? Possibly raking them?
Glad you watched entirety of Zeta, still one of my favorite shows.
btw, did you finish Gundam SEED already?
Im also watching zeta gundam right now, im on about episode 34 and its actually amazing. just bought the real grade zeta gundam for thanksgiving break (i know you said it was your 2nd least favorite real grade but oh well)
If you want a hg hyaku shiki with a similar gold to the mg, get the gryphios war pack. all the hgs in that kit are peak
We need to see more brown tier kits. Please review the GM Cold District Type for Christmas this year!
This is one of the better revives.
I can't wait for you to review the Qubeley
Zeta is my favourite too. Managed to get a Methuss kit! Bit expensive but i spoilt myself.
If you have to really compare the gold versions, the MG 2.0 satin gold is the best, while the MG 1.0 mirror gold is a fingerprint magnet.
I remember a speed builder calling it curry-colored. Still a bit baffled by the color choice, besides possibly cost-cutting.
I'm so glad I already own the original shiny metallic gold Hyaku Shiki. But I think the bootleg kit might come with this original colouration.
Assorted eye stickers... so that gives black knight squad kinda vibes.
This would be an okay kit if that amazing master grade 2.0 wasn’t a thing. What a kit
They barely do 1 MG a year now, all of which are ver Ka's. Not counting P-Bandai
If they do an RG, there won't be any MG coming as that'll cannibalise the sales of the RG. Bandai is incredibly picky about their choices with MS that aren't the main protagonist's MS.
@xxnike0629xx will that convince you to build a kit again in the end?
I shouldn't be watching this. I'm going through Z Gundam, as well, and been fighting getting any of the kits as I'm still building Wing, SEED, and IBO. So many good designs.
The Delta Gundam line always had good looking MS.
Love how you making the new videos
I finally got a kit before you reviewed it? 🤣 I win! That aside, I painted mine gold. If you have an airbrush I recommend the "green stuff world chrome gold". It's fantastic.
This kit is amazing. All the the gold is a lil meh, u look past it quickly. Everything of this kit is amazing
Yeah the Hyatt Shiki is a nice kit and I have no qualms about the injection gold.
This kit is literally a mini MG 2.0? It's great
Not even close the 2.0 and the gold used on it is amazing. Not like this curry gold
This was my first ever Gundam kit!
I built this once and the only thing that undermines this somewhat awesome kit is the injection gold. I can't even panel line it properly because the ink doesn't adhere to the surface like on normal polystyrene
It would've taken you less that a minute to look if yo before buying, but good to hear that the kit is good despite what the title implies
Yeah, I bought this on an impulse at th mall... and then I got home, 2 hours away, and finally opened the box. Same as you, I was disappointed about the gold and thinking about just gifting away the kit and finding a plated version lol this is what I get for not buying the Zeta Team 3-pack on P-Bandai
tbh I prefer injection gold because then I can paint it whatever I want without wasting expensive chrome plating
What if you high grit buff the plastic?
Injected gold and the foggy clear are my least favorite colors. This is one of my favorite suits and I think the MG 2.0 is the best balance between the very cool but high maintenance chrome gold, and this kind of injected gold.
I’ve never been bothered by the injection gold and I really don’t understand why people think it’s so bad that it almost ruins the kit
I don't think I've ever noticed how much red is on the Hyakushiki.
Just enough to hint at who's piloting it lol.
Hoping you'd do a full review on the MG 2.0 of the Hyaku Shiki
> Points at lime green and calls it yellow
> Points at purple and calls it navy blue
...your eyes okay, buddy?
There is a Gundam Base Limited gold plated version of this kit, I have it
its funny, im not the biggest fan of zeta designs, i do like the zeta and the hyaku shiki, but most of the time i just think they look dumb or bland. but with that being said, i dont think this model looks bad at all, i quite like the injection gold on it. i feel like it represents the hyaku shiki far more than the gold we get nowadays. since in the anime, its meant to be golden, but it never really comes across as a shinny gold.
Do the HG Qubeley Revive and tell me how to fix its horrible shoulder issues. It’s impossible to lift its arms
Perfect candidate for gilding/gold leafing
HG Akatsuki Gundam have it better gold, but I think it was plated instead injection
plated gold leave fingerprint when touch! It so bad you have to wear gloves 🧤
@@myhonestopinion3334 valid point, but visual wise better, compared to this
Maybe it's the Hyaku Shiki's colouring or the left hand being so close to the face, but that final test pose makes me think of Freddie Mercury
Such a bummer the kit didn't live up to the hype! 😔💔
I had the old one back in 2010 it was gold plated.
You should review the MG 2.0, I got it recently when I went on a trip and I was looking forward to a review from you but just like this Sazabi Ver Ka, I guess I gotta get lucky
Back when it came out I only had the weekend to review a kit so usually I couldn’t squeeze an MG in. It’s still front and center on my shelf because it such a nice kit!
