If you want to avoid crowds at Knott's, it still has a slow season, unlike nearby Disneyland. Just go in Jan-Feb away from holidays and you can knock out every attraction multiple times over before lunch.

Man I live a little over an hour away from Knotts and if this happens, you better belive I will take a drive down EVERY SINGLE DAY to ride. A giga in the middle of Buena Park? Are you kidding me? The skyline is going to be ridiculous!
This really is something that could never seem to happen, the way this park had been able to fit this kind of ride and that they are going through. This shows the Cedar Fair also seems to have at least some money coming out of the pandemic because even Orion is an expensive ride and people knock on it for being short all the time. This would just be crazy and I really do hope this happens because it just seems unreal. Now only if Cedar Fair would put investments into the other parks in their chain and not just those who fall on the top of their park list.
Hey man, the flip side as someone whose home Cedar Fair park is Knotts is that we rather visit Magic Mountain to ride coasters all day. Knotts gets boring rather quickly. This will get EVERYONE to come here frequently and definitely convince more people to get season/fast lane passes.
If you take a look at their current stock price (roughly $50), they've have a good recovery since March of 2020. In addition to their previous, newer single, large scale investments being relatively successful (Fury, Copperhead Strike, SteVe, etc...), Cedar Fair managed to rebound well and I bet this coaster is a result of that.
@dark whale They seem to be pushing to take Carowinds year round as well, though I don't think they're quite at the same level as the biggest year round destination parks.

This would honestly be an amazing addition! Knotts is my home park, and was actually one of my first jobs! I really hope cedar fair goes thru with this
I still remember how excited I was as a kid when they announce "Kingdom of the Dinosaurs." They really need to reboot that one.... I also remember when Jaguar came out, I was so excited and I usually do not get that excited about roller coasters. But there was something about it. I was literally dreaming about it, without even seeing it. I have to say though, they were smart not to show it in the initial ads for it. They hyped it up and when it opened, I was kind of disappointed. It's a cool tour of the park and it's cool that you go through the loop on Montezuma's Revenge, but it lacked the thrill element and was not very intense. When my Dad moved to California as a child, it wasn't Disneyland that my Grandma was excited to share with him, it was Knotts Berry Farm and Mrs Knotts Chicken Dinner Restaurant. Nice catch, I hope this pans out.
If it goes thru they will have an incredible top 3. GhostRider is a star attraction for sure and the launch on Xcellerator is one of the best launches out there.
@@masongould6991 I mean, I love GhostRider. It's my favorite wooden coaster. However, I feel that the general consensus is that you may see Knott's coasters in a top 50 or even top 25 list, but not very high up while the giga will definitely be a huge boost for the lineup.
@dark whale They are all great, and I love GhostRider more than anyone, but I feel the general consensus is that the top rides at Knott's are strong, but most don't really hold theme to the highest esteem compared to the best rides at 6 other Cedar Fair parks.
I think I'll now refer to Gigas as "Big Ass Coasters I'll Fall In Love With"! As in: I can't wait to go to Carowinds to ride that Fury 325 Big Ass Coaster I'll Fall In Love With this summer. That statement about threw me off the couch laughing when I heard it!
What about the block zones! 😁 I went to Knott's for the first time in November and had the same thought, it was insanely busy, midways were packed - contrast that with Magic Mountain, which didn't feel nearly as crowded with probably the same size crowd, but all the extra space and rider capacity, much more pleasant in that regard. Also, the parking garage is a no brainer, I've heard parking space come up with other parks like Cedar Point that are "land locked" and people tend to go immediately toward the need to remove a ride, instead of removing parking spaces, building a parking garage, or building a coaster around, over, and through existing buildings - might not be as common as removing another ride for the added cost, but here Knott's is proving that it's possible to do all of the above, very exciting!
Did you go on veterans day? Because that day was destined to busy(trust me I was there and it was terrible, I had to wait 3 hours to even get into the parking lot)
Another video I saw said it was a strata coaster. They probably were assuming that it was that tall due to Knotts’ elevation above sea level because it had the same layout
It’s definitely going 100. If Orion is 91 at 300 feet and Fury at 320 is 95 this should at least break 100 as it is 27 feet taller than Fury. Even Leviathan 6 feet gives it 1 mph at 92 over Orion’s 91.
@@jeffreysenecal regardless it’ll be close enough to advertise as 100. No one really will wring their hands over a 98.7 Mph coaster being advertised as a 100 Mph coaster. But given it’s probably just short of 100Mph I’m surprised they didn’t go for a 350ft drop since it’s so close
@@positive_steves6992 I don't think they would lie about the speed to that extent if it doesn't hit 100 since it's such a round number. Plus I feel Cedar Point is saving the 100mph giga for Cedar Point; possibly running along the beach.
I can't help but wonder about any extra security measures around the tunnel and other low points given it is so far outside of main park boundaries.. Its gonna be a long walk back if it ever valleys...

Hello Ryan, I really enjoy your videos. I started watching them last year during lockdown. Would you make a video about the potential return of Bell's Amusement Park? I go to Knotts and six flags MM at least once a year... Knotts has a lot less space and this would be an improvement for their park. SFMM will have new ride in 2022 so they will also sell plenty pf tickets.
Great analysis. I'm getting my mechanical engineering degree at the end of this spring semester (knock on wood) so I appreciated the in depth engineering perspective.
So.. if this were to be an elaborate prank it would be an expensive one because I just opened up a small gym, 560 square feet to be exact and I was being charged over 2000 dollars for floor & site plans. I would imagine a project of this magnitude would cost a crap load of cash just for those plans. This is legit in my opinion.

From working in municipalities for years my guess is this was submitted to site plan review and an employee on the SPR committee is a coaster enthusiast or is close to one. From a legal point of view this could cause someone their job if that is how it went down. I'm so happy we are getting a giga in California and this would make Knott's a top tier park.
Yeah someone will be losing their job soon if they haven't already. I work for Cedar Fair and they have a strict social media policy. Leaking something like this can definitely lead to termination. I believe I heard it was a ride operator at Kings Island who leaked the Mystic Timbers plans in 2016 and he got fired right away.
I hope this happens, if Knotts really gets a ride bigger than fury than I think it will settle me to make the trip to Cali even though I live on the other side of the country.🤣🤣🤣
@@MagicalBread Tatsu also- flying coasters are really an experience of their own, plus it's a terrain coaster, so you really do feel like you're swooping through the trees. It's an incredible ride- especially that pretzel loop.
knotts has always needed a parking upgrade it has always been extremely confusing and everyone who i have talked to who has gone has thought the same so this is a very realistic possibility
Now that we know Knott's is refurbishing Montezuma's Revenge this year for a re-opening in 2023, it's hard to imagine Cedar Fair would invest even more money into the park to build a Giga at the same time. I'd love for it to be true, but aside from the logistics and problems facing such a ride's approval, financially it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. My fingers are crossed, but it feels more like a plan designed to answer, "how could we," more than an actual plan for imminent construction.
I wish six flags would take notes of this especially the parking garage idea they need it really bad. I dont think six flags knows what state they operate in lol. It's to hot in California for these theme parks not to have parking garages and better ways to to get there customer's to the front gate.
They won't be adding one until the merger calms down. Honestly, I don't think they'll do it though. I live down the street from Knott's and despite there previously being (a never working) SkyJammer ride that was super high in the skyline, it just doesn't seem realistic they'll put a roller coaster in there. In the ONLY area they can really expand in (sadly they will eventually take out Ghost Town I think), it won't work. On the other side of Crescent Avenue is a Walgreens and several small apartments/hotels. That's the only area to build anything new, but due to its location, I just don't see them putting a 300-foot roller coaster right there. Just to the west where Western Ave is, there's a 7-Eleven and a few small businesses as well. Not to mention that Beach Blvd an actual "highway" is directly to the right of Knotts and runs directly to the right of the park. So take it from someone that's lived in Orange County they're entire life and is 40 years old and now lives a block from Knott's...sadly this will never happen. I know they have restrictions at that park as far as what they can put in, so a Giga would be the least likely. HOWEVER, I definitely see them working with RMC now because of the merge, so it's definitely not out of the question to add a Raptor with the small space it takes up and it is a new thrilling ride. I think AT BEST they can build a hypercoaster there, but that seems very unoriginal, so best to go with a Raptor or a standalone RMC with sick elements. I'd actually put money on the fact they'd add this, it only makes sense with the merge and building into the only areas they have left that you showed. It's boxed by all pretty major streets (La Palma/Beach/Crescent), and I live off Crescent it's not a minor street by any means.
Thanks to your perfect overlay, I counted roughly 600 parking spaces lost. Also, thanks to your overlay, I counted between 225 - 250 parking spaces per level inside the parking structure. I'd imagine they'd want to get the 600 back and then some. I imagine they'd want to match the height of the neighboring hotel. When Disneyland built they're expansion parking structure Pixar Pals, it added almost 6000 spaces, and I heard it cost near 100 million. It took 9 months to build. I expect the parking garage to cost roughly the same price as the Giga, 30 million. Since this is classified as an "Expansion" project, I imagine more funds have been allocated for the project. Especially given the challenges the park faces, they've been saving up for this big, inevitable investment. So minimum, I see about 5 floors, which would translate to over 1,000 spaces. Knotts hotel is 9 floors high, if they matched the height of the hotel, and get thier money's worth with this structure, that's 2,000 parking spaces on the low end estimate (225 spaces x 9 floors). This would be the 1st part of the project as Ryan said, I imagine they'd like this done in time for Haunt, their busiest season when parking is paramount. Timeline comparison, Fury was announced in August of 2014, and finished construction in January 2015, opened on 3/25/15. 5 months to construct Fury. If they want a late May early June of 2023 opening, then that would put construction starting just after Haunt has finished. Early November 2023. Which would be when I expect an announcement. But since they have to demolish backstage buildings and build a parking structure, if they want a 2023 opening, we'll start to see movement in February, March or April at the latest. Exciting times folks!!!
Knott's has needed a parking structure to ease the dirt parking lots and ease traffic issues. And improve security of the parking lots too- the overflow lots aren't very secured or securable, lots of advertising fliers left , meaning casing the cars for valuables to steal.
“For those of you who are unfamiliar, a giga coaster” doesn’t have the same ring to it as “for those to you who are unfamiliar, a block zone.” Still, great video from my favorite coaster channel 😂

I doubt anyone would value their job and employee reputation that low
@@moekitsune you'd honestly be surprised. I hear lots of people who spread information that they are told not to spread since they work there.
Happy New Year everyone
Holy fuck. I think this actually is going to happen. This is gonna be so great.
I hope this happens, if Knotts really gets a ride bigger than fury than I think it will settle me to make the trip to Cali even though I live on the other side of the country.🤣🤣🤣
When you get here, make sure to head to Magic Mountain for some rides on X2 and Twisted Colossus.
@@MagicalBread Tatsu also- flying coasters are really an experience of their own, plus it's a terrain coaster, so you really do feel like you're swooping through the trees. It's an incredible ride- especially that pretzel loop.
Wow. This would be AMAZING
Yet here in the uk we don’t have a single rmc :((
To all my fellow CGA people, i think we can kill our tiny hope of getting a b&m hyper anytime soon now...
Aye eltororyan come over to chicago to take a spin on the six flags cyclone(viper) we miss you
knotts has always needed a parking upgrade it has always been extremely confusing and everyone who i have talked to who has gone has thought the same so this is a very realistic possibility
someone needs to recreate this in planet coaster
Look up BlazeCoaster here on YT and check out his creation, Blaze350
Damn, what's the background song playing throughout the video? Kinda sounds familiar to me
kNOTTS IS MY LOCAL PARK IM SO HYPED
Y’all better get my mang ElToroRyan to 100k
random question, but does anyone know the background music used in this video?
Now that we know Knott's is refurbishing Montezuma's Revenge this year for a re-opening in 2023, it's hard to imagine Cedar Fair would invest even more money into the park to build a Giga at the same time. I'd love for it to be true, but aside from the logistics and problems facing such a ride's approval, financially it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. My fingers are crossed, but it feels more like a plan designed to answer, "how could we," more than an actual plan for imminent construction.
If this is legit, this really likely might be B&Ms best coaster ever
I wish six flags would take notes of this especially the parking garage idea they need it really bad. I dont think six flags knows what state they operate in lol. It's to hot in California for these theme parks not to have parking garages and better ways to to get there customer's to the front gate.
Which Six Flags park in particular?

They should call the coaster Gigante! as a nod to the subtle subtext of it being a GIGA coaster. Verdad??
We got leaked blueprints yall i am excited
Make one for power keg
I mean Six Flags will spend money for SFMM and they started working with B&M again
I think the ride will be bussing respectfully
im gonna cry knotts is my home park
And improve security of the parking lots too- the overflow lots aren't very secured or securable, lots of advertising fliers left , meaning casing the cars for valuables to steal.
parking structure 1 could b n the main lot
If only it would end up being a 325' winged coaster!!!
Pirates of the Caribbean mid chain passenger loader
2 videos in 1 day let's go!
You can see the Knott’s name through the black scribble
This could be B&M's magnum opus, at least for gigas

“For those of you who are unfamiliar, a giga coaster” doesn’t have the same ring to it as “for those to you who are unfamiliar, a block zone.” Still, great video from my favorite coaster channel 😂
Oh so all those inflated souvenirs prices at Cedar Fair parks, some as high as 40% more than pre-pandemic prices are going to fund this Giga coaster at Knotts? Well played Knotts....well played. LOL Tongue in cheek. This is a good thing for a good park. Hope it goes through.
