    This makes me SO proud as an Ole Miss alumni and yet so devastated that this is no longer part of what initially drew me there. What an amazing and beautiful tradition. This is what the liberal establishment has taken from us. We HAVE to fight back!!!

    I urge Ole Miss to Remember and once again tell the Story of the 11th Infantry Company " A " the " University Boys " Restore " DIXIE " The Pride of the South to it's Band in the Grove . Ole MISS , be PROUD of your Heritage and your TRADITIONS ! Stand up and be counted and SING " DIXIE " from the Stands at Ole Miss Games even if the Bank is silent ! Let Your Voice Be Heard ! God Bless you and God Save the South !

    Born and raised in The South, I was raised to be a Southern Belle, like my Mother and Grandmother, my Great Grandmothers, and back. We were all Homecoming Queens at Cordova, AL, and so was my sister and my sister’s daughters. Being raised respectfully in the South was about our Churches, schools, and being proud of our Heritage. We always shed tears of joy whenever we heard “Dixie” as it brought back memories of how our ancestors fought and died in the Civil War, and one great Hero in our family was “Uncle Robert E Lee”, whose honorable statues are now torn down. We aren’t racist, we are proud of our family history.

      I don't think you are a bad person or racist. I just think your ancestors made a mistake of fighting for the right to keep people as property. There is nothing "honorable" about Robert E. Lee, a traitor who took up arms against the United States and his statues should be taken down.

      @@larryroberts9247 Treason, as according to Article 3, section 3 of the Constitution: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court." Notice the plural language. Whose enemy? The states. As the Federal government invaded the Southern states and was "levying war against them" it was committing treason, not the South. Notice that secession is not listed as a treasonable offense. Article 1, section 10 of the Constitution states, "No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay." States are only able to engage in war if they are invaded or in such danger that they cannot delay action. The Southern states engaged in a war of self-defense, legally within the limits of the Constitution. The North attempt to coerce the South back into the Union through military force and against their will, something Hamilton called in the Federalist Papers "an abomination." The Declaration states, "to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence." How is 1776 any different than what the South did in 1860?

    Love this song, This was great. You Ole Miss fans don't need to let anyone change your song or your mascot for that matter. I thought Colonel Reb was great and I'm all Vol!!! Great Band! Great Song! Great tradition. Gosh I can't wait for college football!!

    It’s sad that I can’t support Ole Miss anymore. I’m pretty much alone in this because the Grove and the stadium was packed for football season. The Landshark was it for me.

    The very first time I heard Dixie played by a marching band was at the 1980 Ole Miss- Tennessee game in Memphis that year.

    @cosel69 the university "officially" changed the words to From Dixie With Love to "to hell with L-S-U" in hopes that it would prevent students/fans from chanting "the south will rise again" during the song. That was quite unsuccessful and they just kept shouting TSWRA anyway forcing it to be removed from the band's playlist. It is a shame along with the removal of Colonel Reb, but it is the unfortunate world we live in today. My thoughts on this issue....: The South Will Rise Again! Period.

    I love this song. And wouldn’t be surprised if it’s played at my funeral.
    However, screaming the “South will is rise again!” is unacceptable.
    What makes this song truly special is that it is a blend of Dixie and Battle Hymn of the Republic(THE Union song). “From Dixie with Love” is southern art made as an olive branch to the country , a peace offering and a hope for unity moving forward.
    We undermine and desecrate the very art we made when we scream ‘the south will rise again’. The lyrics are ‘His truth is marching on’. And until we get this fixed we don’t deserve this beautiful song.

    Chancellor Khayat destroyed Ole Miss and the traditions continued to be stripped by Dan Jones. This is very sad to watch the Pride of the South perform the last time.

    @cmhennes1 Thanks for that info. I was just completed my annual visit during for the Georgia game and heard the band play the new version. It really absolutely sucks. When I come next year, I'll just leave when the band begine to play it. Maybe that's a good idea, get everyone to temporarily leave.

      +5.0 Fireworks That is unheralded bullshit. The Ole Miss gameday experience is the best in the Country. This has been chronicled time and time again by top publications from sea to shining sea.
      The last time I checked, Mississippi is in the South, and the Civil War does not encompass the Genteel South in it's entirety.
      There were, and are, quality individuals that embrace the Southern heritage that has been bestowed upon them. It is not about bigotry, any Rebel alum will tell you that.
      That stated, it's sovereign, and it is fun. Ask any Grove participant and they will gladly invite you in to their space, feed you, give you drink, and welcome you despite race, color or creed.
      Being from the South does not mean that you are inherently bad. It actually makes you good. Friendly, and probably among the best people in the land.
      Worst gameday experience ever?
