Wrench life 604 so I’m struggling to get mine to work it is spraying and I was wondering with the washer in the bottom thing that you tightened just a little did you put a washer there or no and could that be causing the spraying
You need a washer above and below the banjo fitting. Google banjo fitting to get a better picture. Also make shure you didnt accidently stack 2 washers ontop of eachother. Last thing make shure the bolt is tight on top. It will squeeze down own the copper washer causing it to seat and seal.
The best of the CR-V fuel filter replacement video! Specifically like your showing of the direction turning of the bottom bolt, the bench removal of the filter unit, and the priming of the fuel. Thanks.
Did he mention what year model?
And very useful you show the dirt and grime of the old filter! That's why changing is necessary. I used a small cottage cheese tub to collect the run-off gasoline under the filter. Fit in there snugly. No mess. Then I used coffee filter to filter the gas, twice, and put it back into the gas tank. Environmentally sound.
absolutely love the realistic commentary in the video. Really shows the effort and how much of a pain it is to work on cars
This whole video Im thinking to myself "How is this dude so chill and nice, he's probably from Canada" then I see the BC plates lol
No rust either.
Canadians are extremely obnoxious actually. Just mention you happen to be American.
I watched your video to help a friend with her fuel pump. She was relieved. Thanks.
I followed his steps and it worked out great. Nice to do it myself and save some $$. Thanks a Million!
Love your content man. 😄 thanks for the help. I feel real confident to change my own filter now
Wow that was quite the mud slurry that shot out the filter!
Glad to see I'm not the only run still running these old CRVs, used to see them everywhere, now they are getting rare.
Thanks pal, this gave me some insight for doing my CRV,,, good vid.
Muchas gracias, tu video me fue de mucha ayuda para realizar el cambio del filtro de gasolina de mi CRV, saludos desde La Paz Baja California Sur, Mexico
"remove the safety device and we're good". *removes glove off battery 🤣🤣🤣🤣 great video dude.
Very easy to follow along thank you!
Nice video brother, already in my Favourites.
Your video really helped me out. Thanks
Thanks dude, thats helps me a lot to make it on my own and save money
This video really saved me tonight! Thanks 😁 I was told however that you are supposed to open the gas cap before you begin to relieve the pressure. Maybe that's already common knowledge 🤷♀️idk. Either way it worked out great!
Such easy access. I have a Kia Venga 63 plate with a 4-speed automatic transmission and I can tell you the car manufacturers are not making cars easy to fix. They are using so much plastic and it's a pain to dismantle everything. Nice video take care.
Man I miss my old mustang. Changing the fuel filter was literally just unscrewing one line, taking out the old stone filter, putting a new one in, and putting the line back on. It was so easy and the filters were so inexpensive that I changed it once a year whether it needed it or not. Those were the days.
Great video, tx a lot! good music , too
604 what up 😂 you got a new sub just because of the yeet
Excellent video..
Thank you so much 👍🏻
Thanks!
Hey man awesome video, I had a code for running too rich bank one, smell gas a little after start high rpms when idle in neutral and park 3k rpms, but when put in reverse or drive 1 or 2 idle at 2k rpms' plus when im driving it shifts at 3500rpms what should I look for or check? I would apreciate the help brother.
I take it that this would be the same way to change it in my Honda Pilot? About to do this today. Thanks for the help!
I dont believe that the honda pilot has a serviceable fuel filter.
Mine has no problem going into gear just won’t go after driving a bit got codes if it can help
Great Video, as an ex-604 pat...thank you
thank you for the support !
Got a 2008 TSX, never changed fuel filter. No I gotta go find it. Good vid
Newer honda/cars in general seemed to ditch serviceable fuel filters. And just used the in tank strainer. If you gonto any parts website and search your car. You will probably find that there isnt a fuel filter listed for it
Wrench life 604 thanks for the reply.
I had a leak on two of these Kl287 filters from the top seam on the filter body. Trying a k&n one now
I had 1 leak from the seam too. Hmmm probably bad manufacturing
Do you have any idea where the main relay is located on a honda crv 2006? I've been searching for hours online can't figure where it is? Engine? Gloves box?
I really like your approach. Helpful. I have a 2017 CRV and I couldn't find the filter, any suggestions? Thanks
thanks for watching. the 2017 crv dont have a serviceable fuel filter. so no need to change it
I was told my 2014 didn't have one either
I have a 2011 crv do I have one? My CRV is eating gas really bad any clue why??
my 2008 crv dropped from 24.6 to 19.1 in two days time ~my last fill up was at Sam's so I don't know if they had a bad load of gas or something or what ~ never had a problem before ~ any suggestions as what to look for?
2008 wont have a fuel filter thats changeable. most likely the gas was poor. 2 days time isnt that acurate to messure MPG. over a week would be more accurate. i would do a set of spark plugs and go from there
this was a 15min job but because the bottom connecting hose would bend the slightest bit because the fkn filter mounting was also bent out of place and so when i try to bolt on the mount it would move the bottom connection and start leaking fuel. becareful guys and when your trying to crack the bolts try not to bend anything, really shitting design i think, apart from that i love my crv
Everything worked like a charm, EXCEPT on start up: fuel leaking out of the bottom of the filter now, possibly out of the flare end of the fuel intake line. There are no washers there, right? I feel like there needs to be a rubber O-ring in there? But new filter exactly same fit as old. New filter came with 4 copper washers, one of them smaller than the others? But doesn't fit anywhere ($9 filter). No explanation for the extra washers. I just used old ones, as recommended. No problems with the top banjo joint - just getting it loose at first. Any suggestions? I know it's a cheap filter, but alternative was $67. Thanks.
the flare end dosnt use a washer. so you are correct. sounds like a defective new fuel filter. you can exchange it as defective and hope the new one dosnt leak. or spend the money and buy the expensiver one. good luck !
@@Wrenchlife604 Indeed it was. A slightly better filter worked. Thanks so much.
Does anyone know what’s the fuel line called under the filter? Mine just broke😀
No year model?
It is very helpful to list info on what year model crv your working on.
I need info on a 2012 and google is as lost as I am on the info
specs. lol
97-2001. The only honda crv with replaceable fuel filters. I dont think your 2012 has a serviceable fuel filter
Would it be a bad idea to zap the 17mm bolt off with an impact? Using a ratchet sketches me out. Feels like I’m going to break the bracket or something else
impact would be better. no problems using an impact
WOW! aT 3:40, when he blew through the filter, on camera we could see a black stream flying out.
THAT was dirty!
Hey dude. your video helped me a lot. but I have a doubt. when you removed the bottom hose, did it continue to fuel? I replaced the filter due to misfire when I start the car. but I couldn’t see in your video if this type of leak is normal. if not, I believe this is my problem.
Bottom hose will leak some fuel. If you have a misfire. A fuel filter probably is not the problem
Check your fuel injectors that’s what caused my misfire I replaced spark plugs/wires dizzy and it ended up being dirty fuel injectors
I was under the assumption that the fuel filter is a lifetime filter & doesnt need changing.
Do you know where the fuel filter is on a 2010 Honda Odyssey
Most likley non servicable. Most newer vehicles got rid of the standard style fuel filter
@@Wrenchlife604 is this the same for 2008?
I need to change fuel filter on
Odessey 2015.
Can you please tell me where it is located?
Most new vehicles dont use a serviceable filter. It probably dosnt have one
Ummmmm..did you just say it doesn't have one???? The filter is located above the gas tank. Tank removal required.
The clamp that hold the fuel filter is broken! How do I fix it? I need help ASAP.. I can’t take off the bolt on filter without it moving a lot
Put a open-end wrench on fitting on the bottom of the filter (the intake) to hold it steady while you torque the top one to get it loose. Be sure you put it on the built in fitting on the fuel filter and not the removable fitting on the bottom so you don't jam it too tight while trying to loosen the top one.
604 represent!
✌🤘🤘🤘
It helps if you put the model year or generation in the title.
By any chance, do you know where the fuel filter is located on a
2016 Honda CRV AWD (gasoline) vehicle?
In searching the net, the answers are all over the place. It's like no one knows. LOL
Some say that it's located INSIDE the actual fuel pump and the filter can't be replaced, while another says that it's on the left side, just in front of (or behind) the rear wheel.
Thanks in advnace.
Looking for the same answer on my 2011 Honda CRV. I went to my local autozone and they said it’s not serviceable and is with the fuel pump.
@@mohammedqutu8088 It's been almost a year, but if memory serves, I think that the fuel filter sits right inside the gas tank.
In researching a bit, it seems that with the 2011, it's very simple. It appears that you remove the filter from under the rear passenger seat, under the carpet. A special tool is needed. Nothing fancy.
You can just search YT for
Honda 2011 CRV fuel filter replacement.
For our 2016 it's a hell of a pain in the backside!
I'd have to remove the stupid exhaust pipe and other crap from underneath.
I have a problem, I changed the gasoline filter but when I turn it on, it throws gasoline through the filter and I have tightened the screws well, what could it be?
Make shure you have 2 copper washer on the top line. And also make shure you dont have 2 staked ontop of each other
I have a 2011 Honda CRV and my car is eating gas I get regular oil changes and take care of it. I’m currently getting 15mpg. Any suggestions on why!??
Check tire pressure first. Also any check engine lights?
@@Wrenchlife604 absolutely as I said no engine lights and all my tire pressures are good as I’ve said, I took care of my car but lately in the past three months has been eaten gas..
To relieve fuel pressure in the fuel line, see my reply below. I would use the new washers since they are crush washers and could leak if they can't crush any further. Great idea to use the welding glove to cover the battery terminal. Dumb design by Honda on this model.
Sherri Joubert
The fuel rail pressure after the pump is around 35/40 psi, so the gas tank is normaly at that pressure??, would the fuel cap become rather projectile like if released and had to hold that kind of pressure, seems rather a high pressure to be contained in the fuel tank, but you know having done the job, thanks!
@@m.g.540 I was wrong about that. Start the car and then pull the fuel pump fuse and wait for the car to stall. It works better if you are below a half tank of fuel. Also remove the gas tank cap to relieve pressure on that side of the pump. The fuel tank doesn't hold much pressure which is why you need a fuel pump. It's still a dumb design that the fuel filter is directly next to the positive battery terminal.
Good job ..next time use 2 Key 14mm +24 mm there are 2 exagons on filter up e down !! regards !!
Any washer on the bottom of the filter?
No
JJjajajajajas. You man !!! Jaajjjjaja. Blow through the gas filter. Jajajjjaaj. Funny 😄 jajaaa can’t stop jjjajajajaja
Oh!
That's what that is..
I replaced it but can't get the check engine light to turn off. I unplugged the battery but no help. Anyone know what to do?
you have to use a scanner to read and delete the check engine light codes.
The big box auto parts stores will scan your car and tell you the codes.
@@Wrenchlife604 went to AutoZone yesterday. They cleared the codes. Engine light is gone.
Is there a filter for the 2007 CRV's ?
Nope
Is this also for the 07 crv? Or is it in the fuel pump?
07 is diffrent
@@Wrenchlife604 yup. Found video where and how to replace it. Just don’t want my car stinky rt now. Lol
My CRV is a 2002 and the fuel filter is not where yours is. Where is it?
On the newer crv the fuel filter is not servicable. They dont use a conventional style fuel filter
@@Wrenchlife604 Not good news. But, thank you for your reply.
How about a 2002 crv...same location yes or no
diffrent engine. by 2002 honda didnt use a serviceable fuel fillter
Mines a 2001 but doesn't look like that under the hood maybe mine is later in the year?
2002 they switched to a new engine and body style. Could be possible yours is a 2002
@@Wrenchlife604 ok got it, title says 2001 door sticker says 2001 buts guess it's a 2002 cause it's the 2.4 and the air box is in the drivers side,
It would be helpful to say the year or generation. I assume gen 1.
Believe 97-01 is all the same gen 1. In the gen 2 and latter models. They had non serviceable fuel filters . 👍
@@Wrenchlife604 thanks!
Steven Amar the first shot of the car you should know or do you need to be spoon feed
So can I replace the fuel filter in my 2005 Honda CRV do you know?
@@RicknRaqunfortunately, no. I have the same problem with my 2nd Gen Cr-V. No way to access it
The one thing I have to say is that it’s dumb that you’re not using the new crush washers, especially on banjo fittings. Not a huge deal but they’re made as a one time use crush washer for a reason
What year is your crv
2000 honda crv
which year is it ?
1997-2001
Why was it changed gas mileage was poor?
Changed it for preventative maintenance. No symptoms.
When fuel filter starts getting clogged you'll often get not only sluggish response, but actual misses, especially as you accelerate. That's because accelerating requires more gas and it can't give it. So it will stumble then catch, then stumble and catch again over and over. If it really gets clogged so nothing go through it won't even start. Changing the fuel filter takes care of those problems and lets the gas flow again as needed.
What years is this for?
97-2001
Which year CRV is this car?
2000
where is the fuel filter on a honda crv 2006
2006 crv dose not have a serviceable fuel filter. you cant even order one from the parts store.
@@Wrenchlife604 do you know where the main relay is on the 06 crv. Was told right of steering wheel. Can I get to it through the fuse location or do I have to remove dash to get to it
Helps to say what damn year the car is..ugh
