The Mary Poppins one is probably the saddest. It feels like Poppins was one of Walt’s most passionate and heartfelt projects and it would be a shame if they had to let it go.
I cant be optimistic, in the last decade this company has destroyed many classic attractions and replaced them by Six Flags quality rides... And the lands that should be immersive ended up being lame and everything but immersive (like GE which had a huge potential but at the end of the day is just an open market for overpriced souvenirs, and AC needs no explanation of why it failed miserably...). Disney prefers to replace complex attractions by cheap ones (Like test track), and retheme classic attractions instead of making new ones with their own mini lands (Princess and the Frog, which should come with an extra New Orleans mini land at WDW alongside a new boat ride like Pirates, but instead they chose the cheaper).
I think all the EPCOT attractions they announced pre-covid are not off the table. It seems that a lot of the budgets for the parks is being used in EPCOT. As they should be. My hope is that they’ll add the Imagination pavilion overhaul because why market Figment so hard and then have a crappy attraction for him?
Exactly. People today don't fully understand or forgotten why Figment is so popular. Cause they care about the original '83 ride than the one we still have right now and this version hasn't been well received for the past couple decades. Plus with Honey, I Shrunk the Audience erased from existence who here even remembers the Imagination Institute theming? This should be the year to announce a worthy replacement, a holy return of the original or a satisfying and yet acceptable revamp.
I’ll be happy if Spaceship earth never changes. Walt intended Disney to be both nostalgic and innovative. When Disneyland first opened nostalgia meant the Wild West, old New Orleans, and German fairy tales. Now it often means the nostalgia of Disney itself. We need to keep some attractions the same. No one rides Spaceship earth to learn about new innovations. We ride it for the analogueness and retro vibe as the principle attraction of EPCOT
You do know that most of the parks were closed for 2 years and it costs Disney around $15 billion dollars per year to run the parks right? Its not all that surprising that losing money daily for that 2 year period anything that wasn't already under construction would be put on hold for the moment. Alot of people don't seem to understand that the balance of their bank account is not the amount of money they have to spend, they have budgets, they built The Volume for filming their $200 million dollar movies, movies going to Disney+ also due to the pandemic didn't help either. I love your content man and, I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but when it comes to businesses the size of Disney money, budgets etc. are alot more complicated that just, we said it so we need to do it. Alot of the things announced were announced pre-pandemic.
Avengers Campus would’ve probably been a lot better if that Avengers E ticket was built. Now it’s just the way it is now: a mediocre, bland, dull mess lol. Hopefully they come back to it someday… maybe when Chapek stops slashing the parks budgets so much 🤣

I feel like Disney does too many cheap attractions just to save money and care little about what the guest want, so many attentions have projections or very little animatronics or too many screens, i miss the old attractions that have interactive scenes. I wish the old Disney of walts dream would come back!
Amazing how the sheep in the crowd gasp and cheer every time Chapek takes a breath. Build more Hyatt-style hotels with no theming - cheer; destroy beloved rides - cheer; cancel fast pass, magical express, free magic bands - cheer.
A reason why I think the Avengers E-ticket will happen is it could be a resort threesome. In Hong Kong Autopia has been partially removed for it and something needs to happen with that space. Paris has this curious building themed scaffolding behind the Quinjet platform and there's no indication they are going to a new show in the stunt arena back there. I think it's going to be a joint project between Hong Kong, Anaheim and Paris. Disney loves these co-ops in recent times, so it's likely. Also, Paris really needs the ride.
I still have hope that the Avengers Quinjet E-TICKET will happen cause DCA still needs a major E-TICKET to bring in the guests. Mission: BREAKOUT is still popular as it is but there's still a lot of people that are disappointed with Web Slingers. I'm still holding on to the Spaceship Earth revamp. Especially after riding earlier this week cause there's a lot of effects that haven't maintained but finally the green Steam Powered Printing Press is moving again!!!!! I gotta agree with your opinion on the Play Pavilion, a 2019 concept theme 2019 internet humor definitely has aged much so I would be fine if the project is either reconfigured or cancelled.
Wonders of life going towards a scifi/space theme would fit in with the rest of that area imo. I'd pitch an idea for a Horizons successor taking over the whole pavilion if I could.
I have high hopes for the Avenger Campus E-ticket ride, I mean afterall that's another ride that you'll need to pay $20 if you want to ride it before the end of the Universe happens.
I have rarely felt hype the way I felt hype when living legend and national treasure Dick Van Dyke came out to help announce the Mary Poppins ride at D23 2019... And then the disappointment I felt when nothing ever came of it.
i CRIED at the prospect of a Mary Poppins attraction where you could visit 17 Cherry Tree Lane, like, any opportunity to live out my Julie Andrews childhood fantasies is dream material for me. If not a full-on ride, an Entertainment offering would also be really cool, as it’s such a beloved musical, doing some sort of show and tying in musical storytelling would be amazing (also I’d audition in a HEARTBEAT). the more time has passed with no updates it’s just made me disillusioned with if the Parks really care about the magic their guests want to see :(
Disney has really run into some turbulent times. most of their recent movies have flopped. the parks have gotten even more expensive. Disney+ hasn't been as successful as they wanted. Disney is a mess right now and i think Walt would be very disappointed in how things have turned out.
I don't think that Walt would ever hire somebody like Bob Chapek, well maybe for clean-up at the "Disneyland Kennel Club" Make a Mary Poppins dark ride at Disneyland on the footprint of the Fantasyland Theater then build a new Fantasyland Theater on top of the Mary Poppins dark ride with a long curving ramp leading up to the new Fantasyland Theater entrance, like the ramp at Knott's, leading up to the Walter Knott Theater. Thanks to Offhand Disney....
I knew "age well" was coming when you brought up the play pavilion. Whenever the D thinks it know "what kids are into these days", they think it is........ "CRINGE!!! That's what the kids want!" and then realized your voice was going to go up and up and up in pitch and oh boy oh boy oh boy you did not disappoint. Play Pavilion Rant: 10/10!
I could care less what Disney announces at D23 this year. I can't trust one bit of it when it comes to the parks. Once they start following up on what they say, I may trust them again in a few years.
y’all need to remember these got cut/ put on the back burner bc of the pandemic and weren’t that far in R&D i’m sure we’ll get the Avengers E Ticket at least but not the one they announced originally probably a Flight Of Passage clone or a flight force clone
Chapek talking as if the history of technology isn't the history of storytelling. I'm generally optimistic about these things but revamped SSE just gets me going-
I think D23 has become a bit of an albatross for Disney in that fans are expecting big announcements, and the company needs to deliver regardless of whether the concept is finished or not. Universal have the right idea - they usually start building something and then announce it.
@@buster5661 , You have very high hopes. Disney can't create an attraction anymore without attaching the name of an IP at the beginning of the ride/land.
I think the problem of Disney that they don’t go through with some of their projects. That’s why some of these projects don’t get made and we don’t get much information which is kind of shame. The other two problems that comes into mind is the pandemic and budget issues. The budget can take a heavy toll on certain projects which can affect their possibilities of them happening. As for the pandemic, it can take effect on the many workers who are involved in the projects. But then again, that’s just my theory I guess.
That's why these discussions are very important to talk about. If we were living in a NORMAL world of which covid never happened then Disney would probably be in a much better position maybe if Iger reconsidered on sticking around as CEO.
@Brandon Burney That’s true, discussions like these are very important to think and discuss between all of us fans. Maybe you’re right covid’s existence of not happening today would have help in Disney’s position. Iger’s leadership could have led Disney in some good terms in the alternate present.
True but honestly don’t think the pandemic had very much to do with anything, just another “crisis” to blame everything on, Disney has never made more money at the parks then they are now and the reason why Disney as a whole company isn’t hitting budget is Disney+, the parks are subsidizing the crazy losses the Disney+ streaming division have and so they are cannibalizing the parks for the sake of their streaming services
@@ashtonbyrd3686 yea it really is sad because we have enough streaming services, if Disney never started that I believe so much more would be invested in the parks, they should have just licensed out the content to another provider and then made even more money without the hassle

I can understand some projects having to be put on hold, but why can't Disney find the cash to put up a rollercoaster in a place like 'Avengers Campus' & retheme it so that there's something else there to do in the meantime? Same thing w/Poppins. Is an indoor carroussel really that expensive to build? You can later do the rest of the rides & land. But get guest traffic going to those locations in the meantime.
Because businesses have these things called budgets and they budget things at the beginning of each year, now it costs them 15 billion dollars a year to run the parks most of which were closed for 2 years but were still costing them money and, had zero dollars coming in at that time...So its not really that hard to get that they would change their budgets and be less willing to spend on attractions that weren't already under construction...
Today’s Disney, especially DCA Avengers Campus, is like if Walt would have announced Adventureland, opened it was just the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, all the shops and restaurants and then said ‘we will open the real star attraction, Jungle Cruise, someday when we get back to a more robust cost environment.’
@@lutherheggs451 Obviously, that is why it was a lite ‘would have’ dig at today’s Disney and equating how the current Disney would have opted to open a cheaper Swiss Family Robinson Tree House-style B ticket attraction (like Web Slingers, but fairly some could try to debate if Web Slingers would have qualified as a C or D ticket if tickets were still used today) with a new land and promise to build the real star attraction in ‘Phase 2’ (equating the initially announced Avengers attraction to Jungle Cruise).
And now, a list of indefinite attractions and experiences in the American parks: - Tron opening date or timeframe - Whatever's coming to the North Tommorowland building in MK - Spaceship Earth overhaul - Mary Poppins attraction - Play! Pavillion - Interactive elements at Galaxy's Edge - Replacement for Primevial Whirl area - Ducktales World Showcase Adventure - Reflections Resort - Avengers Campus Phase 2 - Tommorowland refurb in Disneyland, as in THE PEOPLEMOVER - Disneyland Forward project - Constantly cancelled 4th Disneyland hotel - Retheme of Paradise Pier hotel
A bland lakeside lodge that literally has nothing to do with Disney. The park needs CEO's that actually care about innovation and intrigue. Not just IP properties IMO
You’re not alone, the ride should be based on the timeless classic. I wish Disney would stop pushing remakes and reboots in everyone’s faces, but unfortunately some of those remakes make a ton of money.
I wasn't a fan of Reflections. If they could do something more in line with Copper Creek but fitting with the Fort Wilderness theming, then I'd be down for something there.
The Splash Mountain retheme will be on this list of attractions that never materialized. It's not happening. I look forward to enjoying Splash Mountain during WDW's 75th in 2046 and Disneyland's centennial in 2055 long after the stench of the 2Bobs has been cleansed and Disney has been made great again.
My thought is that these were executive level presentations to gauge public reception. The sort of thing most companies would present to an exec for approval, but Disney's execs are bean counters. So why not present these at the convention and gauge by audience response? Do we really need another handwich?
No these are all well beyond that point. Something would only be mentioned at d23 if they actually planned to do it. Same goes for the Epcot experience. Disney rarely if ever shows concept art to the public for things that they aren't completely set on doing.
How about, and this is a radical idea. "Splash Mountain:Tianas Bayou Adventure." Cause it's one of the big three MOUNTAINS. Can't be a mountain if it's not called a mountain.
The Avengers and Mary Poppins ride particularly makes me sad if those are cancelled. -Avengers due to how...yeah, AC needs that other brand new E-ticket ride to tie it the land together, since otherwise as is the land feels underwhelming. -Mary Poppins because, as you said, not only is Mary the one that deserves a ride the most, it's also for the sake of just, World Showcase getting more rides is always a net positive.
13:50 I think Disney realized too late what they did with two haphazardly used words and what it meant when they realized it was completely off the table. In the theme park/fantasy realm, there is only one... "Magical World"
I think the Spaceship Earth retheming is inevitable tbh, but I remember that they were getting ready to shut it down for that for TWO YEARS when the pandemic hit. Since they’re obviously not going to be able to get it (and several others) done in time for the 50th anniversary celebration, I’m wondering if we’re going to see a few of these projects crop up again AFTER the celebration ends. Having one of the park’s key attractions closed during such a big landmark celebration would be pretty lame after all…
And then there's another case: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Paris's Walt Disney Studios. That's been in limbo for years now. The last rumour is that the Star Wars theme was in competition with another, according to some The Lion King which may be a co-op with WDW's Animal Kingdom. Personally I hope it remains Star Wars, as if it's The Lion King the Studios park becomes some sort of Disneyland Park 2, as a Tangled ride and Frozen land are also in this "lake district".
To be fair the pandemic really did a number on the financial situation. But as they said they are getting back to normal so we can hopefully get an update.... also for the Quinjet one they decided to make the story a tribute to Chad Gooseman after he died. Respect Black Panther.
Just bring back Wonders of Life. It was so perfect and it would work so well right now. Just do it. Also, the coach's corner would be so cool with current athletes. Kids would eat that up. And the wonderbikes could use VR tech to make them even more immersive. I'm offering this idea up for free, Disney. All right here
why would Disney say things that are coming and all of a sudden they put those things on hold and they don't come at all it's like why are you guys even talking about making those things if you can't keep your word, you have to keep your promise in order to keep your people happy if you don't keep your promise how in the world is the people going to be happy

The Mary Poppins one is probably the saddest. It feels like Poppins was one of Walt’s most passionate and heartfelt projects and it would be a shame if they had to let it go.
Bob could say water is wet and I wouldn't believe him.
What is AC?
Like the great movie ride
Or a bugs land

Bobby C just waiting on that robust cash to roll in
Chapecker talking about cash just shows how outta touch he is. No one pays with cash anymore.😂 love you both Adam and Dallin!❤️
@@lutherheggs451 I know this is obvious, but the pandemic was the worst thing to happen to the theme park industry.
Avengers Campus would’ve probably been a lot better if that Avengers E ticket was built. Now it’s just the way it is now: a mediocre, bland, dull mess lol. Hopefully they come back to it someday… maybe when Chapek stops slashing the parks budgets so much 🤣
Disney have not stepped up for a while now and I do not know if they can or want to. They seem happy living off the past. Saddly that never goes well.

I cannot wait for the D23 announcement for... Tron Tree House, Encanto People Mover and the new Tram Movie Episode iV.
Fun fact, my father in law helped install that Epcot Experience exhibit.
You are the best to bring levity to a sad state of affairs. TY for making it fun.
Wonders of life going towards a scifi/space theme would fit in with the rest of that area imo. I'd pitch an idea for a Horizons successor taking over the whole pavilion if I could.
"B-but, what happened to the Epcot Mary Poppins attraction?"
It was a Mary Poppins RETURNS attraction. You know what happened to it. 😂
Fish rots from the head down. I’m talking about you Bob Chapek
This channel is one of my Favorite e especially the Haunted Mansion ones!
Avengers campus needs that E ticket. One major attraction based on the full Avengers team is well needed to complete this barren area.
No it doesn’t

Pay More, Get Less: The Walt Disney Company™️
i’d say disney’s bank account is robust enough… they’re making more now than prepandemic
"And it *WILL* be ready in time for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary!" 🤡📯
Here's a a famous quote: "Don't make promises you can't keep'. In other words, "DON'T BELIEVE IT TILL YOU SEE IN PERSON!"
Loved the CSI Miami bit at the Start of the Mary Poppins segment!
A lot of the 2019 D23 Expo announcements were doomed from the start even before the events of 2020.
Am low key upset that that canceled Mary Poppins she need her ride
Do it for Julie Andrews
She’s probably hate the idea to be honest
How about just getting the existing rides to work consistently? I'm looking at you.... Well all the e ticket rides

That would've been so cute 😭
Chapek talking as if the history of technology isn't the history of storytelling. I'm generally optimistic about these things but revamped SSE just gets me going-
I think D23 has become a bit of an albatross for Disney in that fans are expecting big announcements, and the company needs to deliver regardless of whether the concept is finished or not. Universal have the right idea - they usually start building something and then announce it.

@@buster5661 , You have very high hopes. Disney can't create an attraction anymore without attaching the name of an IP at the beginning of the ride/land.
To me it’ll always be Splash Mountain
I just really want that Avenger's E-ticket ride. Campus is fun, but it feels like such a tease for something more.
@Adam Pittman you make a excellent point, I never thought of the Disney + service.
@@ashtonbyrd3686 yea it really is sad because we have enough streaming services, if Disney never started that I believe so much more would be invested in the parks, they should have just licensed out the content to another provider and then made even more money without the hassle
I read so many comments that are focusing on the wrong thing! Everyone is talking about speculated cancelled attractions but no one is focusing on the most important factor... Dallin's acting!!! Can we all give this man a round of applause! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
The characters, the Offhand world-building and lore, the jokes, the comic timing, the deliberate elongated deadpan awkwardness and especially the rage outburst commitments!! Thank you Offhand for making your video style so unique that when other people just talk to the camera for current topical clicks you make mini episodes with plots that can be watched again and again even many years later! Even topical/news videos from 3+ years ago are still fun to watch because of how you make them! 😁😁😁 #spookyduplex #jeanlafitte
I think Disney's cash situation would be more robust if they didn't blow a bunch of money on a $6,000/stay Sequel off-brand Star Wars hotel.
@@lutherheggs451 - That didn't stop Walt, did it? Besides. If they didn't have they budget for it, why even announce - let alone approve it?

Today’s Disney, especially DCA Avengers Campus, is like if Walt would have announced Adventureland, opened it was just the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, all the shops and restaurants and then said ‘we will open the real star attraction, Jungle Cruise, someday when we get back to a more robust cost environment.’
You do know that Adventureland only opened with Jungle Cruise right? The rest was shops and restaurants.

Am I the only one that feels as if the Mary Poppins ride should definitely be the ORIGINAL Mary Poppins movie?
You’re not alone, the ride should be based on the timeless classic. I wish Disney would stop pushing remakes and reboots in everyone’s faces, but unfortunately some of those remakes make a ton of money.
I love how to totally forgot about all of these.
I wasn't a fan of Reflections. If they could do something more in line with Copper Creek but fitting with the Fort Wilderness theming, then I'd be down for something there.

The Mary poppins. Ride was gonna be a carousel so it’s not a big deal if it was cancelled
13:50 I think Disney realized too late what they did with two haphazardly used words and what it meant when they realized it was completely off the table. In the theme park/fantasy realm, there is only one... "Magical World"
If ol' Bob wants a true WIN with fans..... Bring back the DL PeopleMovers AND restore Journey Into Imagination to the original .......
A freakin' carousel??? Forget it.
I've never been one for meet and greets but I tell you what, I'm all about Edna Mode.
Yes, if it isn't the People Mover, it's Jean Laffite with you. That's cool, they're both great. :-)
The Princess and the Frog Themed themed restaurant hurts me the most. It was supposed to be at Reflections.
To be fair the pandemic really did a number on the financial situation. But as they said they are getting back to normal so we can hopefully get an update.... also for the Quinjet one they decided to make the story a tribute to Chad Gooseman after he died. Respect Black Panther.
i really wish epcot got the full attention it deserved
Just bring back Wonders of Life. It was so perfect and it would work so well right now. Just do it. Also, the coach's corner would be so cool with current athletes. Kids would eat that up.
