Thank you for this video. EVH is my hero and person I always looked up to. I wanted to be him so badly. From his appearance to the way he presented himself on stage to his guitar and piano skills. It's very sad we lost our legend last year, and especially sad for his family, but it's just a reminder to never take these people (or our own, local people) for granted. Great vid GIV
I was lucky enough to see them on the "5150 Tour" in the 80's. We were maybe 20 feet or so from Eddie almost the entire concert (we were smashed in the front row). Dude had a smile on his face the almost the entite 2 hours!! My buddy Ken caught one of his guitar pics. I'm 48 now and I remember it like it was yesterday!!!! RIP EDDIE!!

I'm from Austria (Niklasdort) I left and went to Venice in 85. I lived in Venice my entire life, until now. I made the best decision ever. The main reason was playing guitar and my(still) hero was always Eddie. One of a kind. He truly changed the world of guitar playing. RIP Eddie!

Thank You So Much ! It was so great of you to give us a tour of how the Van Halen brothers grew up. Eddie has been such a huge part of my upbringing . We lost an amazing talent way too young ! Please keep his memory alive in Pasadena, CA
This is a pretty good video. This guy knows a lot about the history. I was 12 in 1979. Thats when I first heard Eruption when I was living in Lake Tahoe. I was playing guitar then too. I wish I went to LA and did something with music. I did try when I was 15, but LA is pretty harsh and cut throat. You almost have to be from there. Nice to see the memorials. People will come here forever. Death can be soo difficult. The bible says to concentrate on the living. Ed is in Gods hands now. RIP
Mike once I’ve thought I have watched all of your videos this one pops up in my feed ! Thank you from the future ! Van Halen holds a special part of my life in the 80’s & 90’s
Once again one of your beautiful videos he wrote the soundtrack for my life brother big big fan once again long hair Lacey out from Northern California!!!!!!
I was in the motorhome when van Halen signed their original music contract in the parking lot at the Buena Park planes of fame museum. This was one of your best videos ever German in Venice high totally appreciated it.
thank you for this. its very nice. I live nearby but can't make it out there due to a recent severe disability. so I really appreciate you bringing this to us.
When I first heard Eddie I thought he must have came from a rich family with plenty of money and he went to the best performing arts school and learned to read music and learned music theory and then I saw this house and found out he didn't do any of those things and I was shocked that this guy could be so much better than everyone else at the time, I was 18 in 78 and I think Eddie was 21 or 22 and came out with eruption it was the most unbelievable thing I ever heard and as a guitar player myself I was so amazed I almost gave up because I thought eruption sounded impossible but Eddie actually gave me hope and I'm actually a lot better than I think I would have been because Eddie set me on a quest to be the best guitar player I could all because of Eddie Van Halen, R.I.P. to my hero the great Eddie Van Halen.
Shoot first off I freaking love your hat! Man Edward touched so many people . He was one person who changed the world to a better place I believe. If it wasn't for him I'd be dead I'm posting of that. Learning guitar kept me out of trouble. I've seen interviews in Dutch with Edward and Alex. The way Van Halen is pronounced is different than what we say. It's sounds like "Vanallen". I always thought it was cool. How would you say"Edward Van Halen. I love your videos. Your positive attitude is what we need brought into our cars homes wherever people watch you. I definitely want to come visit! You Rock! 🤟🏼🇺🇸👍🏻ITS 5150 TIME!
I drove to the Las Lunas home on October 6th, 2020 later that mid afternoon when learned of Eddie's passing. There were some people there including myself. I took pictures of the home. I was still in tears. I'll never get over Eddie not being here any longer. But, I will always have him in my heart & I will always play his music. Forever a Van Halen fan.
Apparently, the whole band used to rehearse in the back shed, from the first album, all the way to 1981 and Fair Warning. Maaan, I would have loved to be his neighbor back then.... listening to them write and rehearse “Unchained, Hear About It Later, Meanstreet, Dirty Movies, So this is Love”. I would be peering over the fence with a beer in my hand saying “hey Ed, crank it up !!!”. I’d love to hear from his neighbors that lived beside him back then, if they are still around.
This was a really good video from the series "German In Venice",,It was a very educational, and cool video to see of the late Eddie Van Halen's childhood house.plus he just died so it was a very nice memorial tribute peace to Eddie Van Halen..keep up the great videos my man.👍👍
Hey great video man! I’ve been up there also last week! As a life long fan and beyond i made pictures of the places and felt a connection there. Long live VH and remember Eddie.

Tag! Wie Gehts! Hi from Round Rock, Texas. My husband and I love your videos. We used to live in LA. If you ever do different areas of Venice, our first date was at C&O's Trattoria right there at the beach. We haven't seen it in over 14 years. We would love to see it again. Craving some garlic knots! Keep up the good work! We love what you do.
pasadena was (and still is to a large extent) a very racially diverse area, which is why the van halens would have felt very comfortable moving there. very chill place. and that’s a small modest house, not a 2-bdrm apartment.
I think Eddie's mother, Eugenia, had friends or relatives from the same ethnic 'Indo' (Eurasian) background in the area - hence why they moved there rather than other parts of the US. If I recall, Eddie mentions in an interview that the family shared one bedroom, which would suggest that at least another family was living in the same house. And, in the 1960s, again based on what I understand from interviews, not knowing English and looking different, Eddie (and I presume his brother too) were often picked on by the white kids at school, with black kids supporting him.
