Okay, embarrassing confession time! When I was like 13 I wrote a GG fanfic about the Town Troubadour falling in love with a random Stars Hollow girl, and Miss Patty was all flirty with him and played matchmaker and oh god what is my life.
When I first started watching the show, during the first season, I thought he was some type of singing narrator who wasn't really there, but then when he complained at the town meeting, I was like "I guess he's not a narrator."

My god i never realised how many times he popped up haha! I always loved seeing him in he middle of everything, just wondering around sharing his music :) I love this show
just saw him performing in Northampton,MA at the Parlor Room August 10th, awesome, great and a very nice person. He took time after the show to meet and chat. See him live if you get the chance.
Never watched the show, but this makes me want to check it out. Wish he was just hanging around my town to spread beauty like that. Thanks for compiling the clips and posting. :)
@@The_White_OwlSame! I also wish there was a full version of “Mama Tried” it’s one of my favourites up there with Heavenly and Mockingbirds Grant lee Philips is truely underrated.
Last night he played a wonderful gig in Buia, Northern Italy, and told the audience about his time on Gilmore Girls just before launching into a spectacular version of Mona Lisa. The man has it all: songwriting talent, a great voice and lots of self-deprecating humor.
...and it was a tribute, too. The band that originally did "40 Years" was called House Of Freaks, a 2-member band. Shortly before the episode with "40 Years" in it was taped, former House Of Freaks frontman Bryan Harvey, his wife, and two lovely daughters were slain in their home by intruders. Harvey was a sweetheart of a guy, and had friends all over the music industry, including GLP. "40 Years" was Grant's tribute to the memory of the Harvey family.
I never watched GG so I didn't even know Grant was in it, until I saw him perform a couple months ago. Thanks for putting this video together! My favorite GLB release....Fuzzy.
I just found his band (Grant Lee Buffalo) on Spotify and recognized the song that played at on the fire light fest episode. His music is so good! My mind is blown. He deserves more screen time.
i have to agree... just watched a rerun of the Hay Bale Maze episode this week....and the song really grabbed my emotions... for some reason the acoustic versions have that real and emotional edge to them thanks for the complete collection of troubadour songs ... it made my day
I am so confused. I'm a huge fan of both GLP and Grant-Lee Buffalo but have never witnessed even a minute of this show. I think I slept through the early 2000s.
Hey thanks! Exactly what I was looking for!! Actually I am looking for a CD with all this songs but I didn't find it. But already know the songs he sang in gilmroe girls helps a lot!! thank you!

The last song, "Raise the Spirit," I like the acoustic version in the Hay Bale Maze better than the version on the album. I know that's weird, but it feels prettier and more emotional.
I forgot Grant Lee Phillips was on the show. I only started watching Gilmore Girls because of the cool indie music namedrops which were completely lost on average Gilmore Girl fans

Hey keep on creating it’s everything!
Dark chapters of the mind friend.
When I first started watching the show, during the first season, I thought he was some type of singing narrator who wasn't really there, but then when he complained at the town meeting, I was like "I guess he's not a narrator."
I thought the same!
Me too!
It would have been funny if when he started complaining about the second troubadour appearing no one heard him because he wasn’t real😂

@@CarinaPowers9"Smile" is a personal favorite. Especially the acoustic rendition.
QUE DIOS TE BENDIGA, GRACIAS 😭
it's sucks that grant lee phillips songs aren't acoustic on his albums. I like his acoustic versions better their more original and beautiful
Yes!!
4:41 Mona Lisa is my favourite. Beautiful song.
His cover of Mama Tried by Merle Haggard isn't bad either

i love this guy, best town troubadour ever!! :) thank you gilmore girls for letting me know about him!! :)
Grant-Lee is one of the true greats 👏
Never made the connection between Grant-Lee Phillips and Grant Lee Buffalo until I searched "Gilmore Girls Troubadour". I'm glad I did :)
My god he was really the main character. I love his music so much!! One of a kind. He deserves so much recognition
Grant-Lee really did a wonderful job during these 7 years ! Thank you for the compilation, it's nice to hear these again.
40 Years is definately my fave.

2:45 is beautiful, I love that space he created!!!!
I’m happy to see my cousin doing all of this stuff. Yes I’m grants cousin. He’s in England right now
His music is sooo soothing, so amazing ❤🖤🖤🖤
tell him he inspired me to pick up the guitar.
You can tell him he's one of my favourite things on GG ❤
he doesn't accept money.
all he want's to do is speak through his music.
I wish he would put out an acoustic CD... man, I love when he sings "Peace Train."
you forgot when he was in the town meeting, and played "Taylor Left me Twistin' "
Mama Tried.
What a hoot.
Thanks Merle.
mostly i like his versions better than the originals ^.^
he rocks! \m/
His song Mona Lisa has got to be my favourite:))

Still watching in 2020!! Love it!!
What an artist.....very similar to Colin Hay's great appearances on Scrubs
I never watched GG so I didn't even know Grant was in it, until I saw him perform a couple months ago. Thanks for putting this video together! My favorite GLB release....Fuzzy.
I would stand and watch him every single time and applaud every time he finishes!
god I love him, he's so great.

I love Grant's Heavenly!
does someone know where I can find his full version of "peace train"!??!? PLEASE I'm obsessed 😍
I have looked, for years, for his version of Peace Train with no luck. If you find it please post on here!
Me too.. and I'm also obsessed with the House Of Freaks cover T_T We need to ask him to make a full album of these acoustic songs x)
Agreed. I've looked and looked, but nothing yet :(
Me too... but nothing... :(
This Version is so lovley 💕😊
Favorite character
omg its so
sad he wasnt in the finale
Thy town tuned by Grant Lee Phillip.
ooh, Mona Lisa too!!
"Be True To Your School" is my favorite. Even though I disagree with it's entire meaning
Best is 5:47 "Mama Tried"
So thematic for that episode too

Good job I loved it whenever he would ing around town he was so the best!
Loved this plus Alley McBeal with Vonda Shepherd..the good old days..so sad they have to be left behind

Thank you so much for this!
Tbh, the scenes in which he appears were my favorites
I love his version of be true to your school. :3
And Mama tried... and pre-owned heart. And Me and Julio down by the Schoolyard. and... yeah. XD
If anyone has that 40 Years cover tabbed out I would be in serious debt. It absolutely rocks.
It's so strange that you can only see it 21 times in 7 seasons, it seems like a lot more.
Thank you for this!
I wish my town had one.
This is awesome 😊❤️🎶🎶🎶
Love this show
Just so yall know if you want to but it or something. "Honey don't think" is a Grant Lee Buffalo song.
He was my fav cameo on the show✨🤌🏽

Still watching in 2024!! Love it!! 🥰 ❤️🐺🐺🐺 07/14/2024
I really hope this show helped him sell more records
So underrated
Smile, Mona Lisa, Lily-a-passion and Mockingbirds are my favorites!
Every time I watch reruns of this show I always smile when the troubadour walks into the frame. He's got mystique. But Taylor left him twistin'.
amo esse seriado...vou sentir saudades !!
Everybody needs a little sanctuary 👌😊
i hope they bring him back
You forgot my favorite ),: homespun. It's season 4 episode 21 or 22

Grand-Lee Super!
Mona Lisa ...Simply love that song...:)
He punctuates the show so amazingly. I love GLP. :)
tudo de bom!
that right there is the man that inspired me to play guitar.
i never noticed before but the town troubadour is kinda hot
Does anybody know the episode when all the others show up because he was discovered? I can't seem to remember the exact one it was?
Mama tried ❤
This guy is absolutely win (y)
0:51 For me, the best Mockingbird.
I forgot Grant Lee Phillips was on the show. I only started watching Gilmore Girls because of the cool indie music namedrops which were completely lost on average Gilmore Girl fans
I liked Gilmore Girls only because of Troubadour Guy and Kurt.
Kirk
Whos Kurt?
He tried to sneak a Phish song passed me🤩. Yeah I caught it.
These songs would make a great album.
Now I was forced to watch this series by my exgirlfriend, and the story really sux :D But there's all kinds of great music in it, and I'm a huge GLP fan, so I got kindda shocked when I found out that he was the in it.
I am in love with 4:41 🥰🥰
I'm just catching up on these series and now I stumbled across 7:30. Welp!
if ANYONE know where i can find the single 'pre owned heart' (6:18) i'd be the luckiest person ever!!
i love gilmore girls :)
Has anyone ever found this version of 'Peace Train' in its entirety?
RE: the house of freaks cover--just re-watched this episode recently and realized this was aired just after Bryan Harvey and his family were murdered.
