Thank you. I sure didn't realize what all was involved until I started doing them. If you are working at a large enough scale, there's some mechanical automation that can be built, but that takes time and money which must be recovered in the upgrade price as well.
Hi Brian, Awesome fix and upgrade. Regarding the issue of the boards detecting all 48 chips when warmed up but 0 asics when cooled, we are now confident that this is 99.7% of the time a 0.8V and 1.8V oxidation issue. For your red and yellow chips, apply flux, reflow + change of the weakest in the domain should make it completely green. For completely red domains, see if a chip has "shaky" RX. Well done, keep up the good stuff.
Thanks @DCentralTech. With every board I learn something new. Your live streams last fall really helped. I'll definitely try reflowing more of the red and yellow chips.
It’s crazy that you are working on the same problems that I am except I’m working on a s19 pro today! This board has been to 2 other shops (Bitmain authorized shop and some hack job shop). I HATE working behind other people… someone used crap paste that was dried out and caked on. I think the board overheated several chips and I’m having to chase the gremlins!
Bad thermal paste is the worst! I'm trying to find some of the Fujipoly SPG-30B used on the S19s. It's only 3W/mk but it cleans up real easy and works well
I have 9 S17pro boards that need the heatsink upgrade. Pretty sure all 9 boards are good, though some aren't reliable. How much would you charge to go through all 9 boards and upgrade them - I already have the heatsink kits. And how would I get a hold of you?
Hi there Wayne. I haven't gotten all the business stuff taken care of yet to start doing repairs and upgrades for customers. Get on the Discord Antminer Repair Channel discord.gg/wKQq388a and find JacksonElectronicRepairs#8270. He's a fan of the channel and good guy when it comes to repairs. I think his rates are quite generous (cheaper than I would charge 😉)
Happy to help. The heat sinks I'm using now come from Thanos. Best price and top build quality. S17+ - tinyurl.com/heatsink17plus S17pro - tinyurl.com/heatsink17pro Be sure to check out brianrecommends.tech for links to everything I use
Wow now i fully understand the cost price for repair and upgrade hashboard. Nice work man and realy good edit point of view.
