Tim's best things are Conquering the Throne and ...And Time Begins. Phew. Damn shame there is pretty much no video material floating around.
I was hoping someone Would mention Conquering the Throne. I know everyone hates the production sound on that album, but the drum work is insane. His particular style adds so much intensity to the Riffs. I honestly love that album. Catacombs, nailed to obscurity, spiritual holocaust all awesome tracks
A lot of people forget that he was also in Vital Remains. He taught Dave Suzuki how to drum
Dave Suzuki, one of the hidden gems of extreme drumming. Marthyn should do a video about him. I didn't know he was tought by Tim. Thanks for sharing that. Something new is learned everyday.
My favourite MA album will always be Formulas. Such an underrated album for MA.
So underrated, its my favorite as well
I'm with you guy's. Formulas is a contender for my favorite next to Blessed. My early years of learning the drums was playing to the Formulas album with my crappy headphones and CD player. Sweating my chubby ass for hours trying to emulate Pete and the ways of Morbid Angel. Sandoval for life.
@@blakecurtis7809 Love this album, this was another album that when it came out, it was the craziest deathmetal drumming I had ever heard. Nile - Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka, and Cryptopsy - Whisper Supremacy are also albums that were absolutely peak deathmetal drumming performances when they dropped (in my opinion).
I never thought Formulas to be an underrated album at all. It's pretty highly praised to be honest.
You should have also looked into his work with Divine Heresy. Shit was lit.

That first album is an all-time great. Had a copy of it in my old 90's Mitsubishi on permanent rotation and it never left the CD Player until I crashed the car over a year later. In fact because it was a ripped copy left at my house one night on a blank disc I had no idea who the band was. I was at the auto-dismatler's scrapyard selling the remains of my car and they took the head unit out, hooked it up to a battery and got my CD for me. A guy wearing a metal shirt asked me what the band was, said I didn't know but I listen to it 10 times a week so we put it in his car stereo and he told me it was Divine Heresy and it had the fat guy from Fear Factory in it and the perfect hair Asian guy from different death metal bands on drums.
This is true
And hate eternals conquering the throne! My fav Hate eternal album personally.. got that back in high school and was like wtf this drumming sick lol
I think Tim's powers rests in his hair like the biblical character samson lol he's defnitely a favourite when it comes metal drumming. Awesome reaction and tips :) much love from johannesburg south africa \m/
I haven’t heard much from tim yeung as of late. I really dig his performance on the divine heresy albums. Nice to see you giving him more recognition
He also played on the first Hate Eternal album Conquering the Throne, and although the production is really bad (not his fault), the drumming is superb. He gets no Credit for that album but I really dig his style
Very talented drummer, but growing up in Tampa and watching Morbid Angel with Pete makes it hard to see them without him. I was very fortunate at a young age to have a band mate that was always out networking and I was able to take a few lessons from Pete, both at the bands practice storage unit playing on the Pearl kit he used for Heretic and on his electric kit at his house. Pete was a huge influence in my metal drumming growing up. I still have his set of signature Vater sticks he gave me and a pair of his signature promark sticks that he gave me at our first lesson right after he finished tracking some songs for Heritic. I’ll never forget walking into that storage unit and seeing that massive kit on the riser and the cymbals lined up on the wall. Dude was such a great guy he even lent me Sabian metal hats, a ride, and a crash, that he had to test out from the company. My bands demo and a battle of the bands was played using those. Anyway, this brought me down a rabbit hole, but man I would love for you to revisit Morbid with Pete drumming since he wrote those tracks. This reminds me… he showed me the book that’s on the cover of covenant, if im not mistaken it’s an old school book they slapped a cool cover on to make the album artwork. He had it at his house when I was there. I think tomorrow will be a morbid angel kinda day for me! Haha. Again great videos. Let’s showcase the creator of that one foot blast, Mr. Pete Sandoval!
Damn! Havent Heard about him since Divine Heresy, good to see He's still rocking!
He replaced Pete Sandoval years ago
@@malice5121 yup, that's pretty much how I feel. The problem I have with Kingdoms Disdained is I think it's a boring album. There are so few standout songs.
His playing on Decrepit Births debut is some of his best.
or Hate Eternal's debut.
Tim Yeung did really succeed Commando as the right drummer for M.A. his drum works in Nile was also good.
he was amazing live with MA back in 2014, nailed all my favorite songs and then some
Nope.
Tim Yeung only played live with Nile in 2003, though.
It was 2009, I was at that year's NAMM in Anaheim. I saw a booth with a full kit that had Axis A-L2 pedals on it. I had heard about them and I was curious, so some guy at the booth said I could try them, so I sat down and played for a bit. Next thing I knew, Tim Yeung was approaching me. He asked me if I liked the pedals. That was his kit.
Lucky
Awesome 😎
I was a huge Divine Heresy fan at the time so it was incredible, there was nobody else around, we chatted a bit and took a photo together
Could you do a reaction / analysis on Hellhammer? He has a very jazz-ish playing style for being a black metal drummer
Oh hells yeah if he did an analysis on the My Death Hellhammer drum cam, he’d shit himself
Morbid Angel - Domination 1995
🤘💪
@@drumtechniqueacademy Das Album ist schon echt fett , da kann keiner was anderes sagen 🤘💪
Domination was the album that got me into Death Metal. Still throw it in the mix to this day!
Love these videos, thank you+!
Leaving us hanging at the end! Now I have to listen to that epic breakdown!
I love this drum Chanel 🥁!!! Thank you!!!
Domination!!! One of my favs too. Love this new format, by the way! These are great!
Does anyone remember Chason Westmoreland from Hate Eternal? Haven' seen any analysis on UA-cam yet. That guy would also deserve more attention. Raw Power.
Love your shirt🔥🔥 and your videos!🤟
U r really helpful man
Thank u
Gr8 to see more historic drummers. And yes, Domination is a very good album
Of course he's having fun, favorite MA song fo sho
Those videos of him and Dino playing Divine Heresy stuff were always insane to me - great vid, thanks!
Yeung is an amazing drummer. Tight and he is a great performer
I love that you're doing these again Marthyn, and that RATM cover was badass. Looked like you were having a ton of fun. I think that's the most important thing in drumming, have fun and it's so easy to overlook. Thanks!!! \m/
Edit: Domination BTW
I agree 100% - actually life is easiest when you are having fun!!
@@drumtechniqueacademy HaiL!🔥🤘🏼BELPHEGOR!🤘🏼🔥
What is he up to these days?! Dude was such an inspiration growing up! His work on Divine Heresy's album is just so tasty
Saw him play with “I am morbid” a couple of years back
blessed are the sick is my favorite morbid angel album
Someone told me to never rest the beater against the head because it deadens the sound of the bass drum. Now I'm watching a video telling me I was right in the first place. What a lovely feeling.
Tim Yeung is the Fuckin Man! Now, I must listen to Decript Birth ...And Time Begins
@@malice5121 yeah, I agree.. But, the drumming is awesome!
Domination album, knew as soon as I saw the D haha.
Loved it. Tim is another great one. What kind of sticks are you using, those swirl/screw patterns look like they help? Thanks.
Oh yeah, Tim rocks! But since it was a song from Altars of madness, I‘d LOVE to see a reaction video about Pete Sandoval! And Domination is a milestone for Death Metal, and a special record for Morbid Angel as well in my opinion, considering the fat sound 🤘🏼
Domination
Hi Marthyn! One question…would it be also easier to start/stop the foot patterns burying the beater also with direct pedals?? (like with Axis longboards)
P.D. Love your stuff…. Your Bass Drum Mastery really works 🤘
Great video!! You should do one about Dave Suzuki from Vital Remains. He also played guitar. A question, where can I get that bass drum pad from? Greetings from Peru.
Hello Marthyn. In my opinion it's not splash cymbal, it's mini china or electro stack ;) Greetings from Poland!
UOUUUU
TIM IS VERY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Marthyn, I can see the burying of the beater being practical for those with two bass drums. How do you work it between double base sections or when you have double/single patterns on a single bass drum? I expect it would muffle the sound and also cause issues with rim mounted trigger. Is it really only practical if you have footboard mounted triggers? By the way I am working through your BDM course, although you discuss the start stop position, it is not the bury kind. Is it because you like larger beater angles?
soo tyte :)
so Attila start giving drum lessons, great vocal great drummer.
I like it tight too
Yeah, Domination
Wow! Welcome back Marthyn!
Are you planning to make a video about Menthor?
yeah would love to...pls post a youtube link of the video you'd like to see

I think it will be pretty interesting!
Pete Sandoval’s legacy.
Whatever happened to Pete?
@@wagsbass he got surgery and then converted to Christian so they kicked him out which I think is super funny
Man we share the favorite Morbid Angel album, nice! I only had to see the first letter to know it's Domination
Tim is so underrated!
I am not sure anything compares to Altar of Madness. The influence that had on all future metal is undeniable! And Chapel of Ghouls is a great track from that album as well.
Dawn of the angry is my favorite song on that album! \,,/
Fuck yeah man! I love you!
and I love you my friend
Have you ever see Tim Yeung used to be breaking the double bass record in world’s fastest drummer for foot. He did around 837 strokes in one minute. He has mixture foot techniques. He usually on swivel on his left foot. His right foot is more on the sliding motion like you said. Almost the same foot technique as Dirk Verbeuren.
pls post the link of that video right here...
m.ua-cam.com/video/UDF5FxPiTAE/v-deo.html
IMO. Should done this with Pete Sandoval instead since he's the one who helped write this song/album. Plus Pete played this faster.. crazy huh? Lol IMO should've done Tim Young doing Divine Heresy. Songs he did help do. Js imo. Cool vid!
no, mike browning did..
Tight
🤘 I can hear it lol
As a kid I always thought Pete's drumming was fake. Watching Tim play Pete's runs is amazing
Listening back some of Pete's recordings are unreal for the time period he tracked all those songs. Pete was miles ahead of every extreme drummer in the 90s.
Wasn’t he the drummer in Vital Remains or was he the guitar player??
💯💯💯💯
Not sure if it was intentional that your clothing colours match that of your e-kit, I'm a fan either way :)
Are you using 2 separate Roland VAD706GN Electronic Drum Sets combined into 1 kit? I know they make a 5 piece kit but not one as big as yours and I’ve always been curious about it lol 😆
that's a drum-tec pro kit with pearl mimic pro module 🤘
@@drumtechniqueacademy thank you so much I could never figure it out lol
Domination, easy
You should do a review on Bob Beaulac from Skinless
can you do dave suzuki from vital remains?
Por onde anda Tim Yeung?????
DOMINATION
I am getting doubles (accidental ones) when i am trying to keep the beaters on my batter head when stopping/starting. It is very annoying and i am trying to get it clean for long time now - i dont know is there sone good hack to solve it? Thanks in advance. S
Im confused, there is no MA album with the letter x in it?
Here I am using kegels to keep things tight and now you're telling me otherwise.
Any thoughts about Sean Reinert?
my beater always bounces off. i just can't seem to get to bury it without bouncing. Any advice?
domination
that's maaaa boiiii :-)
Missing an A there :D Jk, very nice editing and great analysis as usual!
With Tim Yeung Morbid Angel turned into a coverband (and now still is with Dave's band). Tim is very precise, very clean, very good but he makes Morbid Angel sterile. I LOVE Pete's drumming. He really has to work for every note and does so. He isn't the tightest drummer at all, but he has groove. A signature groove. A bit wobbly, a bit waltzy. That makes Pete unique and Tim just one of many.
Chorobliwy anioł
You know what would be great? If you could do the same analysis but for lesser known drummers, including some of your subscribers
@Marthyn you should definitely react to El Estepario Siberiano playing a Dream Theatre song with a 3 piece kit and a single pedal !!!
it sucks..
@@meshuggahman3225 it?
@@DrCrimp-sg5pb yes, it does suck.
@@meshuggahman3225 first of all it’s not it but he*
And that’s just your humble opinion.
@@DrCrimp-sg5pb you dont get it, i dont care about him as a person.. im talking about the cover itself.. it does suck.
In my opinion, the greatest to walk the planet, close call between him and dominator 👍🏻
*the dominator is awesome as well* 💪
React of a cover? Please! You must react Pete Sandoval playing
Analisa Max colesne from krisium
Tell us about from technics Aaron drummer from infant annihilator?! I don't speak English (((( blastbeats or gravity blast 340 bpm
Do a Daniel erlandson video soon
Is it possible that you record the reaction videos a bit louder? I cranked up the volume to max and it's still difficult to hear.
I always thought he was a cocky asshole but i did a blast (roughly 220-225) at Namm and he said that was sick and clean dude. I was like ok ok. He’s super nice haha
He uses light spring action.
His drumming style(especially double bass) reminds me Joey Jordison
Horribly Under subbed channel !! Marthyn should be at 1 million !
react to pete sandoval.. im really surprised that u havnt yet
Dude!...You mean Pete Sandoval?!
Isn't morbid angels drummer Scotty Fuller
Scott Fuller with Trey Azagthoth in Morbid Angel and Tim Yeung playing drums with band i Am Morbid with David Vincent.
He's doing quarter note triplets on the ride, that doesn't mean the time signature is 6, it's still 4/4
Listen to the keyboard part - it’s in 6
@@radiosant it's definitely 4/4 (what keyboard)
@@reezlaw put on the album and listen starting at approx 2:44

Mmm so tight 🤤
Tim es un excelente baterista,, lo es,,, pero el crédito debe ser para pete Sandoval,,,
He uses low spring tension.
Your fav. MORBID ANGEL album is. ..D.O.M.I.N.A.T.I.O.N.

Ok Marthyn but this time you didn't mention "hip flexors" neither once @_@...
This is cake for him compared to his playing in Divine Heresy
Actually Tim Yeung said in a interview that once her started players song from the C & D album. It was one of the most difficult stuff he has ever played.. it's on here still somewhere.
Pete wrote this, Tim is awesome but he's doing a cover...
Chapel of Ghouls was written before Pete, it first appeared on Abominations of Desolation. Therefore the drums are likely written by Mike Browning
@@rubysoffner4557 Right! I totally forgot about that. Shame on me!!
