Chip, Thank you for restoring George Barris iconic custom so wonderfully and for producing such video. Chip I hope to meet you some day. God bless you! Sincerely, Blaine Halley, Santa Cruz CA
Absolutely a great Guy, fortunate to have met him and been allowed to visit the shop.. Illusions 2.. before it even touched the ground.. Plus a few other Places, Car meets etc... even in traffic, his insane 69 Camaro.. pulled up next to me in my humble daily Driver 68 Dart.. Super Cool... Later that same day being introduced to him by my (then manager) when I worked at Classic Industries... With a friendly.. ah Man I know this guy. .. he's real..
Hi chip have watched just about all your tv shows and so far this one is my favourite, no drama no games no going back and forth jumping from one person to another, thanks for all your work.😎🇨🇦
This is AWESOME! What impresses me about Chip (aside from his tremendous design talent) is that he cares about all of his project cars as if they were his own. The amount of respect he showed to the original designer and builder (Barris) and original owner, not to mention the vehicle itself, demonstrates why he is so successful. Great job, Chip!
"There's no front shock absobers on it right now " 😂 It certainly didn't wallow without them Chip . Sounds and drives so sweet too . This must be a thrill for the custodians of this rolling piece of history . Thanks Chip
This is the magic of YT! You have one of the most well known customizers of today rejuvenating a custom car from one of his famous predecessors. Way to go! This car will now be available for future generations to admire.
I wish I was able to afford this car. You've done a great job sprucing it up while respecting its history. I hope the new owner will respect its lineage too.
The family that owns this car doesn't know how lucky they are that Chip spotted this car and knew how much history was in this Barris custom. There isn't a better person to put life back into this rolling artifact.
Glad it's on the road again . Kept the historical integrity and "human element " in it's refurbishment which is what makes this car so special. imperfections are it's saving grace it's honest.
The skirts and Lake pipes really add to the finished look . I’m sure George would be happy to see it cruising down the boulevard again . I hope whoever owns it drives it , it’s just too cool to sit in some show room . Thanks for sharing, what’s next ?
Chip you better get that car if they are going to sell it this is were it all started right here boy you did beautiful job riding in that car brings back memories
Awesome to see this on the road again from Washington myself I have seen a few of Barris' gems hiding in barns up here in my time. Great Job Chip keeping it original!!!
I just love that car and history 😍...I love those skirts. I have them on my 58 & 59 impala convertibles......chip and the team OUTSTANDING JOB 👌 👏 😎 🙌 👍
I've really enjoyed this find and fantastic transformation. My sister worked at the family department store back in the 1970's. The 1958 license plate was redesigned and had a revised letter/number method that enabled countless combinations. This car came new with an embossed "WASHINGTON 53" plate with slots for a metal tag for subsequent years That reproduction plate should have had a foil style tab, not embossed "58".
The paint schemes-graphics that George Barris used, seems to have been borrowed years later by the art directors for the movie Conheads. Does anyone else see this ?
I ran across George at some show at RM Restoration in Chatham Canada and was driving a copy of the Ferrari Boxer which I had completely hand built, he was with some group of Deusenburg fat cats and upon noticing my project walked over took one look and said you built this didn't you, he blew my mind, how in God's name did he pick this out??? Anyways I asked him if he would autograph my car which he did on the leather glove box door, he had his crew take some photos of George signing the car, meanwhile, the group of fat cats had left and I felt like James Brown having been told nice job by someone who knew what they were looking at, I believe this happened in 2004, I still have that car..
I know the cat's urine on the wheel covers, and engine damaged paint and chrome, but it also saved the car from being infested with mice which would've been catastrophic. (Pun not intended)
It’s great watching Foose work around his shop. You see how well he works and the tools he uses. It gives me great ideas for my own shop….

Paying respect to builders before you. Your passion to see it ‘done right’ makes it a great car again. Congratulations on a great project.

Quite sure the car has front shocks. They’re knee action shocks. You just have to check the fluid level and use floor Jack oil.
