    Yes, it would have motion blur. I've not tested it but I don't see any shot where that would be an issue any more than if you were using the slider for a regular move without a motor.
    The one thing I can think of would be that you may be more limited with long timelapses if the camera has no connection to the controller. I'm not sure though, I think there would be workarounds for that too.

    I love the tutorial. Only thing that annoys me is that my konovo gear didn't come come with controller mounts. I know this seems like a little thing, but it would be so cool to have this information included

      Okay. I don't sell Konova stuff. I just made a video about it.
      That info would be found in the page you buy the product from.

      What did you use to mount the countroller to your slider and what are you using to power everything?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  8 років тому

      I used an arm for a CCTV camera. But any friction arm or ball head should do the trick.
      You can use the included power adapter or the battery adapter with two sony batteries, and i think it can also take AA batteries, or i think you can also use a 12v external battery but you'd have to double check the specs about that.

    thanks for the video. I have a quick question, can the controller send the slider in the opposite direction each time the delimiter button is hit? I haven't seen this mentioned in any reviews.

      +cameron cameron I know that the basic pan/tilt controller can do it. Not sure about the smart controller... I would imagine it would though being that the basic one does.

    Both Tempus and Konova are releasing an IR remote to plug into the control box and trigger NEX cameras;) they're both sending me one now!

    Thanks for doing the video. Is it possible to start the pan and tilt independently? For example, the camera is tracking on the slider, then it pans to follow the subject, and towards the end it tilts down as it continues to pan.

      I don't remember, sorry. I had this system years ago.
      It's possible there was a delay option.

    Hello Nitsan. A couple questions. I have the same setup that I intend to use with Canon 70D and a Sony FDR AX100 4K Camcorder. I want to use this with the A Camera for interviews to make them a bit more dynamic. If I can program an an auto move that keeps the subject centered in the frame across the slide distance, I simply man the B camera and vary the shots from wide, to close up to extreme closeup as necessary and shoot the whole thing myself. The slide is not a problem, programming the slide and pan together is a little tricky. The Controller doesn't have any built in function for this but is there a simple formula to compute pan rate based on slide rate and slide distance? Also, what motor are you using? You're able to achieve slide speeds much faster than what I'm seeing with my kit. Thanks!

      Hi
      I'm sorry but I don't remember the menu exactly. I sold my kit years ago.

    Hey nitsan, thanks for getting back to me. Yes the 1:50 motor does function on the same settings as the 1:250, just worried that using the wrong settings may damage the motor?

      Once Upon a Pixel I don't see any reason why it would, but best to ask Konova about that.

    Hey Nitsan! Thanks for sharing! Can i ask you a question? When using an external remote control for timelapse shooting, what do you do to set the camera to not to take the picture just when the slider or head are moving? With the konova controller this is not a problem...but if youre using, for example, a promote control...at some point the control could take a picture when the slider or head are getting in place for the next shot. Is there a way to avoid this? Thank you!

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  8 років тому

      +GRSM000 just use the included controller to avoid motion blur.
      or set it to continuous mode so you have the same amount of motion blur in all the images, a bit of motion blur shouldn't negatively affect the images once played as a video. Motion blur is natural to video.

    Hello Nitsan. I've set up my system like you have. I can get the pan, tilt and slide to work on live motion. However, when I follow your instructions to program my move, all that happens is the slide. I've marked a point for the pan movement and placed a credit card on the tilt to see if it moves up and nothing happens. I've emailed Konova and it's been 3 days and nothing. Does Konova compensate you for your time to help people like me? If not, I guess I'll just have to wait for them to reply. They sure take your money fast enough. Thanks!!

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому

      Hey. I'm not sure what the problem is. You could send me a video or photos showing your settings via facebook if youd like, but I don't know if I will be able to tell you what the problem is.
      Try sending konova a facebook message and tweet. also find konova paul and Lee Freshpaul on facebook. not sure if thats the same person.
      And no, I strictly never accept money to make reviews.
      Unless I specifically say it's a sponsored video, which so far I have done once for LG (it was some random Christmas promotion, not a review)

  • @nitsan
    @nitsan  11 років тому

    it's because the controller has no measurement of distance traveled. All you can control via the controller is how much energy you put into the motor, and when it's vertical it takes a lot less energy to go downwards, but it's still getting the same amount of energy for each direction.

      +Myles Shelly I'm not sure. Check the menu. If it's not in the menu then probably not. Maybe find the speaker hole and cover it in thick tape.

    In this video the slider is very audible is that simply because the recording mic is pointed straight at it or would that be an issue in a Interview situation?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  10 років тому

      I'm not sure.
      Really depends how far your microphone is and how close it is to the subject.
      Generally anything that makes noise I wouldn't use when I'm recording audio in a quiet room.

    Hey Nitsan, recently picked up the smart controller with two of the new ms motors (1:50 and 1:250) in the motor settings on the smart controller I can't find any settings to match the 1:50 motor. In the gear ratio settings it only goes up to 100 and the motor corrections only go to + or -15. No problem setting up the 1:250 motor as in the gear ratio settings you can select 264 and then use -14 in the motor correction option.
    Any idea how to set up for the 1:50 Motor?
    Cheers

    does anyone know what is the best motor speed for stop motion animation ?!, thanks

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  10 років тому +1

      I don't think there is a "best" one. you just set it to whatever your shot needs.
      for example, if you want to move 30cm in the shot and you want the shot to be 10 seconds long (playing at 30fps), you would do the math:
      seconds times frame rate (10s x 30fps) = 300 frames in the shot.
      then length of travel divided by the number of frames (30cm x 300 frames) = 0.1cm, which means 1mm movent per frame.

      Nitsan Simantov actually getting this sider

      do you know how to determine the movement on the motor controller that you just explained the math of ?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  10 років тому +1

      the basic controller is not suitable for stop motion. you need the smart controller.
      or just no motor at all, you can just move the slider by hand before every shot.
      the slider has distance markings on the side, thats what you use to see how much you are moving, both with or without a motor.
