- This was the first rallying song of Sinn Féin when it came into existence in 1905. It was sung at all gatherings of the organisation over a number of years.
The original song contains one extra verse which is omitted from this rendition and can be found below:
"Why should we sleep while our land is in danger?
Why should the frown of a thief make us quail?
Why should we crave in the halls of the stranger?
Only the Gael can make laws for the Gael!"
Brian O'Higgins, my Grandad Joe's older brother!
that's cool
Great rendition of this song. Too bad he omitted a verse. Up the Shinners.🇦🇺♥️🇮🇪
Tommy O'Higgins was a Red, main org'r for USW in org'g my mill 80 yrs ago! Reds fought for workers rights, while right wing jerks like yourselves stood by the scabs, strike breakers, racists. U right wingers support enemies in the fight, but lie about it later, taken the bosses side!
Long live Sinn Féin. 🇦🇺♥️🇮🇪
you need to start making videos again man this stuff was good
Absolutely Based Name.
Will you be doing a video about the end of Slime Fein later this year?

Als deutscher Patriot liebe ich die Musik nationaler Befreiungsbewegungen.
Love it!!!!!🇦🇺♥️🇮🇪
Good to see I’m not the only Irish Australian here
@@samhampton6771 unfortunately I'm not Irish. Only wish I was. I just love everything Irish.♥️
@@vivianlemottee3291 I mean a large percentage of Australians with convict background have some Irish blood
@@samhampton6771 yes. Unfortunately most don't even realise that. I have no Irish ancestry, but the Irish are the nicest people on the planet. I've been cultivating my Irish friendship over the years, and have many in both the Irish Republic and the north. The ones in the north are staunch Republicans/nationalist. It's great to have friends like that.
@@samhampton6771 I only listen to Irish music on UA-cam. Mainly rebel music, as I'm a rebel at heart. I love all Irish music though. Stirs my blood.
Who are the three men whose photos are on cover?
@Evan MacCarthy Thanks Evan. Much appreciated.👍
Arthur Griffiths the founder of Sinn Féin in 1905 is the first.

Belfast Irish land ever :)
I presume these lyrics are older than those of ‘O’Duffy Abu’?
Yes, and this itself is preceded by a song called "O'Donnell Abú"
O' Donnell Abu?
Eoin O'Duffy was a fascist.
O'Duffy was a fascist.
The first Socialist Irish Parlament, cut down before they could make a difference
"If you remove the English Army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle, unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts will be in vain. England will still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs."

Socialism goes against Gaelic culture, & was most likely only supported in the cities.
This SF wasn't socialist. It's a completely different entity to the modern SF.
>sinn fein
Cringe
its a whole different sinn féin to today's "sinn féin". today's party doesn't have an ounce of legitimacy and, while it is known as "sinn fein", has no continuity with the sinn féin of 1905 to today. the title could be claimed by the much smaller splinter group "republican sinn féin", which was founded by a walkout of the traditional republicans from the 1986 ard fheis, where the gang of opportunists and degenerates led by gerry adams voted to betray the irish republic and to recognise the authority of the free state. adams and his ilk created modern "sinn féin" as a pro-mass immigration, pro-eu, anti-irish political party. the old sinn féiners, brian o'higgins, father o'flanagan, would turn in their graves at how the name of their national organisation has been so drug through the shit.
@Mick you should check out their youth wing ÓSF and see for yourself
@Mick You aren't looking then. The 26 counties have seen mass immigration (relative to its size) over the last 25+ years with at least - at least - 1/5th of the population being non-Irish, and migration being the only driver in population growth. Provisional/Pink Sinn Féin have cheerlead the entire process. Hell, if I recall correctly, in 1998 they passed a motion advocating for no restriction on immigration whatsoever
@@teodorhogstrom412 Read the last two lines of my above comment to which you responded. They have not been in power in Dublin. They are the opposition though, so if they disagreed with successive Dublin Govt policy of mass migration we'd know all about it.They have clapped on and cheerlead mass migration to Ireland, on both sides of the border. They are in power in Belfast, and oversee mass migration there.
@@teodorhogstrom412ÓSF are certainly a tiny bit more wannabe 'radical' than the parent body, sure, but Sinn Féin have never really advocated for immigration restrictionism of any kind. In the 2020 GE in the 26 counties they tried to make their position more moderate but if they could get open borders they'd probably take it. It's unfortunate
Sinn Fein has caused thousands of needless deaths in both parts of Ireland and has ensured the permanent division of the island. Slava Ulster
"the permanent division of the island" Thats not gonna age well lol
@@irishgigachad2347 The island is all ready permanently divided and has been since 1921... don't you read the news?
