Feeder fishing for coarse fish on the river Test

  • Overs the years Ive caught some incredible coarse fish from the river Test, some accidentally whilst targeting grayling. This video shows two sessions where I go in search of roach, dace, chub and anything else that might turn up and use a tactic to try and avoid the game fish. It shows a different angle on fishing these beats as opposed to the more traditional trotting that we all love and proves that game fish can be avoided in most cases.

    Well said Ducan. There's to many so called experts who are advising the use of feeders for grayling fishing.

      Feeder fishing specifically for Grayling, no, never, not unless you don't feel anything when one or more go belly up and float downstream!

    Back down that beat again Thursday. Had quite some success on my last trip with banded 8-6mm Carp pellets, certainly avoided the Grayling.
    Great video again, always inspiring to watch👍

      Hi Neil, sorry for the delay. In most cases you do get what you pay for but for a medium cost range rod worth checking out Drennan and Korum. Best talk to your local tackle shop, explain what you need and generally their advise is good and most good tackle shop will match sensible online prices.

      Not many day ticket stretches on the Test but Timsbury worth a go, plenty of action from trout and grayling with the odd big roach, chub and dace around! Also check out The Lower Itchen Fishery (River Itchen)...

    My feelings are that all coarse fish should be removed from the entire river. It is a precious gem that should only hold game fish that need protection.

      Would that be a natural state for a river to be inhaving just fame fish in it? Do game/course species naturally live in separate waters & its humans that have mixed them up?

    • @williamavery9185
      @williamavery9185 Рік тому

      @@andrewocock8480 That is very true. Before any legislation fish were taken by horse n cart to different locations. Game fish can cohabitate with coares who devour their eggs and parr, so depleted the stock to extinction. The english river Test is netted to remove them, successfuly. So WYE not ?
