They’re not broken up! 😊 There was some internal band drama and changes, but Ingrid and Trond, the original two members of the band (who founded it) are not going anywhere. Highasakite was recently on tour, and they’re releasing two new songs this Friday. 😊 This would have been a lovely double reaction (with “Golden Ticket: acoustic” from the same session as “Samurai Swords: acoustic”. Very different, give it a watch when you have a minute.) Other songs… Since Last Wednesday, Leaving No Traces, God Don’t Leave Me, Hiroshima, Heavenly Father, Mexico, just to name a few. Their _HAIK_ concert!
@@MikeandGinger my pleasure, glad you like the music! Terrific observation about her phrasing of words at times. It’s intentional, to add a little something extra. Here’s a fun one just for you guys to watch, a song you’ve already reacted to (Lover, Where Do You Live?), performed in a mausoleum. Great acoustics… ua-cam.com/video/VJz_6PZ7vU8/v-deo.html
Highasakite as others have said are still going strong! They actually have a lot of folk rock style music in their first two albums which is stunningly beautiful. I strongly suggest you listen to “Lover, Where Do You Live” Ingrid had her own solo project under her full name (Ingrid Helene Håvik) called “Babylove” I suggest listening to “Marianna” or to “Shoes To Walk Far in”! So glad to see more people falling in love with them, they are my favorite and such a magical band!
I saw Highasakite live in June this year, in mine and Ingrid's hometown, Ålesund, Norway. She was clearly pregnant at the time, as she was wearing a very tight black costume, and had a big belly. The concert was great, although I still miss Marte Eberson, who played keyboards before the split. She is such a virtuoso on the keys. Highasakite also played two songs on a memorial concert, on Norwegian TV, NRK, in July. Strangely, Ingrid sounded very different than usual, her voice sounding un-characteristic, in a bad way. Maybe because she was still pregnant, and this somehow affected her voice? One can clearly hear how she developed her characteristic voice between Highasakite's first and second album. Her mother is a voice-coach, or similar. You should check out Highasakite's song "Can I be Forgiven", from 2019. The first two minutes are magical :)
I am SO pleased you mentioned Marte Eberson, as I absolutely loved the harmonies between her and Ingrid! Such a shame they parted company in 2018ish(??) -
I'm a dinosaur and don't normally go for anything post 1995 but these folk's are really good, maybe I've been sheltered from good music due to the British/American press popular demand crap we hear on TV and radio. Unfortunately here we trend the bile dictated to us by the English speaking media rather than more genuinely talented music from our closest neighbours in Europe.
Great old banger! If you like high pitch vocals, you should listen to Ina Wroldsen. Norwegian artist also. Check out St.Peter or Strongest. Live versions available
Unique vocals, in my opinion, her vibrato especially is interesting. I believe the live St. Peter VEVO version isn’t available in Canada, they’ve mentioned it before. But there’s always VPNs…
Highasakite did not break up. Some members split from the group a few years ago. They are actually releasing two new songs this friday from a new upcoming record! Please react to their song: out of order ua-cam.com/video/wdmOw15Xfyo/v-deo.html
