Thanks for your reaction. Highasakite is another tremendous band, who’ve served up indie pop, alternative, ambient, experimental, stripped back/almost folky, techno-pop, traditional pop, and even a full-on rave song on their latest album. Some of Ingrid’s songs are more “soundscape” oriented, like this one (I love it, personally). Others are lyric-driven, very much open for interpretation. Some are in-between. It’s definitely worth checking out (many) more of their tunes. :) A double reaction to Golden Ticket (studio/music video + acoustic) and Samurai Swords (studio + acoustic) should be a fun start. Perhaps Someone Who’ll Get It… and so many others.
“Highasakite’s percussionist and co-founder, Trond Bersu, states that Highasakite’s ambition for their album Silent Treatment, “was to make music that would put us and hopefully the listener in a certain mood, to create images for the listener and make an album with depth - an album you can listen to several times and still discover something new.”
I wish their website still had that blurb about them it used too...all I can remember is "...sudden fierce bursts of percussion"...but can't remember the bug about the lights and silence lol
@@Mastaace I can’t really remember it, either. :) But good to see you again. What have you been listening to from ol’ Norway? Looking forward to the upcoming Astrid S, Dagny, and Aurora albums? I guess Sigrid has one in the making, too.
@@Nexus8VK my top 10 is as follows : #1 Ingrid(have a Highasakite tattoo after all), #1b : Emilie Nicolas, 3-5 : Dagny, Sigrid, Anna of the North (fluctuates but probably in that order), 5-10 : Iris, Skaar, Julie Bergan, Astrid, Delara (in no particular order). I've met Sigrid and Anna before which I'm still in disbelief of. I haven't really been seeking out NEW music as much lately I guess, but def will check out any of those albums when they appear on Spotify.
@@Nexus8VK also dude I guess you don't have any of NRK's vids from the Christine farewell concerts eh? I'm DEVASTATED that they made their vids private and can no longer see Highasakite's Adele cover or Emilie Nicolas' Billie Eilish cover....it's like they've stripped a piece of my soul away lmao. Like why the hell did they even do that? (I saw people speculating licensing or something) But there was at least a dozen videos I constantly watched on that channel that are just GONE now.
Glad you had a look at Haak and Ingrid - it usually takes a few songs before you get fully into their often unique lyrical and compositional choices. Hope to see them back on your channel!!! They’re great! I second the recommendations of Samurai Swords, Golden Ticket, and Someone Who’ll Get It…double reactions And like I said a few weeks ago…please return to the very talented, raspy voiced Sigrid. She’s released a special edition of her second album, with acoustic versions of every song. Perfect for reactions. Sigrid and Askjell (AURORA collaborator and Sofia [the young painter girl who passed away] composer) on piano. Ty 🥺❤️
Thank you!! I’ve listened to Highasakite since their second album…they’ve now released five, lol. And several singles and EPs ☺️ A very special performance is in the Vigeland mausoleum, Ingrid Helene singing Lover Where Do You Live to the host of the hike show. But I’d check out some of the other songs suggested first 💖
They have so many great songs. Golden ticket, lover where do you live, someone who'll get it, Samurai sword, Mexico and many more. You should react to all of them 😊 Great reaction by the way
Ingrid is definitely up there with the finest singer-songwriters in/from Norway who are in the pop/alternative genre. Super interesting voice, many fun vowel choices and all that music-y stuff. I’d say some of the others are- Angelina Jordan- Susanne Sundfør- Sigrid- AURORA- Kalandra’s Katrine- Ane Brun- Ina Wroldsen- Emilie Nicolas- Dagny- SKAAR- Astrid S- iris- Julie Bergan- girl in red (still really young, shows promise) - and I’m forgetting many..
@@AdamStraughan You have! (We’re still waiting for a few more early days of the channel recommendations, but no worries, haha.) There’s around 50000 metal bands, of course, and rap/every genre imaginable. Alan Walker and Kygo, numerous others.. Sissel I wouldn’t consider “pop”, nor Vibeke Stene (Tristiania) or Maria Mena. Forgot about Marit Larsen & Marion Raven- AND Eva Weel Skram- Emelie Hollow- Annie- speaking of 50000.. =)
+Amanda Tenfjord, Delara, Faye Wildhagen, Elsa & Emilie (shame they broke up but BEST dual harmonies ever), Anna of the North, Ary. Also love Slotface a lot.
Great another excellent Haik Concert ... You should catch the whole concert its brilliant! Haik is brilliant! Ingrid Helene Havik is the Singer Songwriter of the band !
Awesome! I always thought the “one song, and if said song doesn’t hit or connect 100%, that’s often it for the artist” format was pretty flawed. But I get it, reaction videos are usually for one thing. One song, one album, one movie, one TV episode. If I had only listened to Aurora’s Conqueror, I can’t say for sure I’d ever gotten into her music. Anyway, thank you for the video, and keep them coming! :)))
Hi Adam I've just re-caught up with this video. I think the algorithm has skipped your feed for me lately. Highasakite are phenomenal . This performance was at the end of a HAIK episode featuring Ingrid Helene Havik and her band Highasakite. We are familiar with HAIK from when they did that episode with Aurora. This was a special concert at a new museum and it was a historic 1st concert at that museum. I've watched a few HAIK episodes with Astrid S and also Dagny. Norwegian and I think Dagny from the Faroe islands. Anyhoo back to Highasakite. I see them more of an album band and I like to listen to all their Albums. Ingrid is the principal Songwriter and she sometimes does covers or collabs with others. You should see her cover of Askjels ' I have seen the apocalypse and so want to go home' which was originally sung by Emilie Nicholas (and it's a really powerful emotional song). Sadly not live on UA-cam but there is a video of it . But there is a live performance with Askjel and Iris. Ingrids cover is a bit stripped down. But special. She also collaborates with Alan Walker on Faded! But you really should do more from Highasakite. Songs like 'Golden ticket' , ' lover, where do you live 'samurai swords' 'someone who'll get It' 'too early 'I call bullshit and 'out of order' . But there are very few bad songs. But back to Askjel ... We know he does a lot with Aurora, Sigrid and Iris. His 'To be loved' video with Aurora is a must! And 'Sofia' with Aurora and Iris I think you've done. If you haven't heard 'I have seen the apocalypse...." with the official video and Emilie Nicholas... You need to, it's a really moving piece of art!
Late comment, but the acoustic versoin of Golden Ticket would be one not to miss. I am glad more people may find their music thanks to videos like this!
Never thought I'd be drawn to a group that does electronic pop music. But I'm a Huge fan of this band . There is something magnetic about Ingrid's voice that draws me to it. This song is off of their album Camp Echo. Pick any song on that album next. The whole thing is gold.
i think kalandra has some really nice songs, so far i havn't heard anything i didn't like. time to focus on one of my favourit bands from iceland, hjaltalín. their records are good from the first to the last track, for example Hjaltalín - Lucifer/He Felt Like a Woman (Official Video) ua-cam.com/video/PkRREQlnAPU/v-deo.html Hjaltalín - Crack In a Stone (Official video) ua-cam.com/video/I0fObdhfbkQ/v-deo.html cannot believe that these tracks are already ten years old!
Hi again, Adam. Nice to se you listen to Highasakite. I really like them -maybe one of the better groups in Norway. I agree with you, this song, and version may lack a little variation, I think it was a bit dull. They have many other songs that are better, and I would recommend Lover, where do you live? It's a beautiful song : ua-cam.com/video/mfQkXK_mgGw/v-deo.html Also I would love you listen to Golden ticket; it's one of my favorites, and with much more power and a wonderful rhythm. ua-cam.com/video/78pRzTME0Tc/v-deo.html This is a more upbeat version with lyrics. Their acoustic version is perhaps the best. Have a good journey in listening to this very special group and singer :)
just a feedback on your audio mixing. Your mic volume is very unbalanced compared to the song. Even if we want to hear your comments, the volume of your voice hurts my ear when i turn up the volume to listen to the song.
Sam Ryder " Set you free"( cover of N trance). Adam ---' oh my goodness is he a rare gem. Please take a listen to him .( either off your station or here ). He has been around since 2020. Sings his own songs and covers. Voice will grab you.. as far as high as a kite-- not a fan. She may grow on me if her diction I proves to understand lyrics
Thanks for your reaction.
