Hey y'all! Thanks for watching. If you'd like to see more about some of the areas we explored while we were at Oak Thicket Park, check out ua-cam.com/video/b9Fuv3SxZt0/v-deo.html . And to see our visit to another LCRA park, watch our video on South Shore Park: ua-cam.com/video/tQSn90_LK8g/v-deo.html
Thank you for coming to Oak Thicket! We’re SO glad you enjoyed your stay. My name is Lisa, and I, along with my husband Dale, are the new managers of the park as of mid-August (working with Recreation Resource Management (RRM)). As you mentioned in your video, the park is undergoing many wonderful improvements. You mentioned that the RV loop is not big rig friendly. Good news! Not only are we trimming trees on that loop, but we’ll be adding another RV loop in the near future. All fire pits, grills & picnic tables throughout the entire park are being replaced. Plans are also slated for the addition of a general store, gorgeous sand beach, along with rental equipment such as paddle boards, kayaks, paddle boats, canoes & pontoons. I apologize for your confusion on the trails, however, new signs and trail maintenance has begun! Please come back in the spring to see our fantastic progress! If you like Oak Thicket now - you’re going to LOVE it in the near future!
Hi Lisa! Thank you so much for watching our video and for taking the time to leave your comment. The updates sound awesome! We are working on our full write-up of the park now and will include your comment in that post on our website as well as in our next Newsletter on Monday for our audience to see. We appreciate all of the work that you, Dale, and the staff are doing. And we definitely look forward to visiting again to see all of the changes. Thanks again for the update!
We can't wait to check out this campground We made it to Houston Monday. Jet lag isn't too bad this time. We should schedule a meetup. Thanks for sharing!
RV Texas Y'all UPDATE my husband and I did a day trip there yesterday. We wanted to stay overnight but there were no camping sites available, all reserved. We went on the trail, took the nature trail as opposed to the multi use trail. Got lost several times because it seemed as if the trail kind of petered off, came to two clearings and a pond. Lots of upturned roots on the trail. I didn’t mind (adventure!) but my husband and the dog did lol Admittedly the map wasn’t much help and yes the trails could use some TLC. Ate lunch by the lake, that was nice. Jeaney (I think that is what her name was) and other blond lady who were in the booth when we arrived were very nice and did a great job of explaining things. I did have a great time though, nearby historic Fayetteville was super charming and I look forward to returning in a few months to see how the park is looking!
Texas is certainly on my exploration bucket list! Those bikes look like an absolute blast, and a great way to explore the area! I'm really glad that I found your channel. Travel is my main passion, and the freedom of RV life is the main driver behind my journey towards financial independence, so finding videos like this are always inspiring to keep going forward! Just subscribed, and am eager to see more!
Hey MoneyBee... Welcome! We're glad you found our channel. There is so much to see and do across the great state of Texas. We're happy to share what we find. Thanks for joining us.
We enjoyed our stay. Oak Thicket Park is part of the Lower Colorado River Authority park system. It's not a state park. But yes, we are happy that the funding is picking up for our state parks. We hope that continues.
We've wanted to go to the Round Top area for a while now. We may need to check out Oak Thicket - the shade would certainly be a welcomed benefit! Thanks for the review y'all and safe travels!
Good Afternoon Y'all 🍹! Another great location for a park! It did look a little tight (tree limbs) mainly on video but that setting looks relaxing. We keep looking for Tom to do another cooking video on his Green Mountain Smoker soon hopefully! Safe Travels and Happy Trails Y'all!
Another great video. while you are in that area look at a couple outher interesting places. www.thunderbirdsouthwest.com/ Another place is close to LaGrange. www.thc.texas.gov/historic-sites/kreische-brewery-state-historic-site May have some rallys coming up.

Glad you enjoyed it. We really enjoyed our shady site!
Great park , yes it is unfortunate that the Texas State Park system has been underfunded for a very long time ☹️
