  • We have finally gotten to a place in our build that we can start to do some landscaping in the front yard. Watch as we start to transform an area that has been anything but attractive, into what will someday be beautiful flowing palms, plush grass and colorful topicals!
    Anyone that would like the the contact info of the Landscaping crew that worked on this part of our yard, just email Jenn and we will pass their info along to you. They are in the Tarlac area. Jenn's email can be found on our "The Good, The Bad, The Philippines" page!

    Hey Rick. Your home is looking fantastic. You need a sun hat and sunglasses when your outdoors. It's hard on the eyes and on the noggin. Enjoy Christmas there. Have a cup of eggnog for me. JJ

      Hey John, my mom would be proud of this comment 🤣. It's exactly what she said in a text message the day she watched the vlog. I'm 59 years old and still getting into trouble with mom, so I explained to her that I do where a large straw hat and sunglasses when I work in the yard, just not when I vlog 😉. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well Brother! Oh, can't stand eggnog, but love a glass of Gluhwien when it's cold outside, which it isn't here.

      Thanks Scott! As always, appreciate you watching sir. So yes, finally got to a place on a part of the property, where there shouldn't be anymore construction work, so just thought it was time to start putting in some landscaping. Can't wait till it is all done and I have a green yard again. Was getting tired of the concrete colored front yard 😂.

    Looks super! Here in Dubai it's close to the 100s still every day (winter though, in summer it's much hotter)...Congrats on the permanent visa! Makes things much easier for travel in and out...Is that the SRRV for the military Visa BTW? That's the one I'm going for long term when I get there...

      Hello brother from Dubai! I don't think I will ever get used to warm weather at Christmas 🤪. You are one of dozens of subscribers that have asked about my visa process, so the light bulb came on today that I need to do a vlog on it. So be looking for it soon. And no, I did not pursue the SRRV, I did a 13A spousal visa. It does what I need it to do and does not force me to tie up funds in an account somewhere. Good thing is, there are options that should fit anyone's needs !

    nice landscaping. just for your information, I live in Texas, right now the weather has been getting colder. tomorrow and for the rest of the week, it'll reach a low of 15 degrees and a high of 45 degrees......burr. Hello fellow Texan! From the Tyler area myself. Born and raised in the Dallas area, high school and college in the Houston area and moved to East Texas as soon as I could. Mom, Dad and my daughters are all in the Tyler area. They are supposed to get down to 11 degrees Fahrenheit on Thursday I believe. I have seen it colder, but usually not till end of January or start of February. Must be all that Global warming .

    Hi Rickey, so the grass is named after the Water Buffalo or Carabao and it only requires about and inch of water per week send me some to patch my Florida lawn filled with St Augustine that cowers if you look at it too long, wow. That grass is what we need in states like Florida where we spend a ton of money to keep our lawns.

    • @rickeybaker9066
      @rickeybaker9066 Рік тому +1

      Charles, I totally understand what you mean about grass in Florida, pretty same as East Texas, accept we also have , although short, the winter to deal with. I will tell you, the last grass I planted in East Texas was called Zoysia and it was by far the easiest grass I had ever sodded. Seemed to be disease resistent, drought resistent, and fairly low maintenance. I just fed it twice a year, put out some weed control in February and watered it for 10 minutes twice a week. Mulch cut it every other week during the growing season and threw out some winter rye in October. Had a green lawn year round!.

      @@charlesweatherly3586 Can't hurt to try a patch and see how she does. I was living in a heavily wooded place called Holly Lake Ranch, but it got decent sun. It seemed to do well in both sun and shade. There are several types of Zoysia, just can't remember which one I finally decided on. Hopefully whoever you find to buy it from, can assess your yard and get you the best variety!

    It's those final details that really make the place look great Rick...
    Is there a place in Cuyapo where you can get nice big planters, like what you can get in the States? Also, are there places you can get rock large enough to stack for flower beds, or trim on the outside of houses?

    • @rickeybaker9066
      @rickeybaker9066 Рік тому +1

      Thanks Karl, and yes , the details go a long way to making it feel like home. I have found that a town just south of here called Talavera, is a great place to get large planters and lot's of plant sellers. As for rock for building, etc, I saw places up north of here on our way to Vigan, that were harvesting large rock from the river beds that flow out of the Cordillera region. Not 100% sure where it goes from there, but I a pretty sure you can get what you need in that area.

      Hey Sir, love the name! Property to the east is lived on, homes are a ways from us and they farm it. Land to the south and west is terraced rice fields and will most likely stay that way for a long time. The way it is shaped and with a water source, it makes for a profitable rice field. Hectares to our south are terraced rice fields and are up for sale. Due to the size of the property, I expect it will stay agricultural.
