Great ride Phil. Your up in my territory now mate. The old Glenn Innes- Grafton road was used to bring the wool bales down to Grafton and loaded on to ships and transported to Sydney. The tunnel was built in the mid 1860's. Imagine a trip with bullocks and wagon! It took a month or so to do the trip, one way.👍👍🇦🇺
Cool Neil, cheers for info on the tunnel 👍 Yep, bullock team, camping trail side, and eventually getting Grafton I guess. Different world of hardship back then! Cheers mate 👍
I'm inspired by the beautiful Australian country you are enjoying on your 300 rally, I'm 68 years old and travel mostly on the highway here in the US on my harley roadglide. Thinking seriously about the dual sport so as to see more of the back country. Keep up the good work, safe travels!
Good one Tony, glad you enjoy seeing the Australian countryside. A duel sport would give you fun access to many pretty places, well worth the small outlay for they joy they can bring. Cheers mate 👍
@@MidCoastAdventures no worries and ditto, the big adventure bikes are fantastic Mike munchers on the tarmac but hey I reckon the little Rally will be more fun and capable for me. 👍🏻
Cheers mate, wished I'd camped there this ride- but I'll be back. PS- binge watched a heap of you videos the last few days- some top rides / and camping escapes in there - insperational mate 😎👍
Just as an aside, there's a nice road off of Glenn Elgin Rd called Ten Mile Rd with a closed sign on it. It's not closed. It may have been when the bridge was down but that's been repaired but they haven't removed the sign. Funny about that. There's a few gates but just leave them as you found them.
Just sat down at work for smoko I know what I’m watching now 👌 And you probably have already been there but Tommy’s rock look out on the Glen Innes side of the track it’s amazing view
@@MidCoastAdventures that’s cool. Did you explain in a video why you traded in the big DR for the smaller Honda? If so which video is it? The Honda looks really good and I’m sure it feels much lighter and more refined but it doesn’t have the same sound when you turn the throttle up.
@@kdegraa I'll do a video on "who the Rally is for", looking at pros and cons of a smaller adventure bike. Bare in mind ANY motorbike can be an adventure bike, it's all about what you expect from the bike you choose. Cheers mate
You have one of those very enjoyable adventure bike channels. It's always a joy to view your productions. You just rode straight through my beloved favourite region, along the Boyd River. I know some spectacular remote rides around there, that would blow your mind. Local knowledge rides. Let me know if you are ever interested. Thanks for all the video productions and all the effort you put into them. I know it's a lot of work.
Thanks Kev! Appreciate the kind words mate 😎 Definitely a beautiful region up along the Boyd and beyond. No idea when I'll be going back that way, but would be good to check out some cool places if you're happy to show me around. Thanks mate 👍
So your from South West Rocks , you may know my Nephew Shannon Campling , a few of us will be riding through the Old Glen. Innes road on the 28th of Oct . I actually have a Honda CRF 300 Rally myself. On this ride it’s mostly a road ride so taking the V85tt Moto Guzzi . You vid gave me some great 👍 insight
@@MidCoastAdventures , he is a Chief , I’m from Wodonga Vic , my Sister Debbie Camping lived in Kempsey for years ( put past the airport on a property ) her C Stewart Campling lives in South west ricks as well . Haven’t seen him in years ( apparently a piss head )
Pulled out of buying a new CRF300 rally because of two concerns one money ..the other the perceived lack of long haul touring at 100km/h on tarmac . I bought a second hand KLR ..but watching your video , starting to hanker again getting a Honda .
Hi mate. I guess it depends of what you want out of a bike. The KLR (like the DR I had for years) is a great allrounder with power to carry a fair bit of gear. The CRF is also a great all-rounder- just not the power, or heavy load carrying ability. As for highway speed and long distance travel, I'd happily go around Australia on one. The 6th gear is perfect for cruising at 100 kays plus 👍
Ride map in the Description Box - Enjoy 😎👍
Perfect - I'm moving to Coffs next year and looking forward to getting out on these and other roads 😊
Just one guy on a DR? lol great video
Thats the maclay river that runs down George's junction great vid mate
Cheers mate 👍
Thanks for taking us along Phil that was very enjoyable!
No worries PLC, glad you enjoyed it mate 👍
That was a great vid Phil thanks 👍
Thanks Johnny, glad you enjoyed it mate 😎👍

Awesome ride always keen to see new countryside . Will get to ride through the tunnel on Old Grafton Rd one day 🤣😂👍Thanks for sharing Phil 😊
Well worth a ride up and through there, you'll enjoy it for sure 😎👍
Nice video. Your production is getting good!
Thanks man 👍👍

crashed my car on glens creek road when I was 17, lovely spot to do it!

Once again a great clip and left me envious . Good run for the new bike. Definitely want to explore that region thanks again
Cheers John. Much more there than I could see or film- I'll be back there for sure- well worth a visit mate, and a top way to get back to the coast 👍
Loved the video I've got the same bike as you 6 months old really happy with it some of those places you went to that's me 👍
Cool David, and thanks! They're good little machines hey, definitely capable of long-range trips and proper adventure riding 😎👍

So the DR is no longer your steed? I liked the sound of the big thumper.
Shes gone Karl. And I definitely liked the way she sounded also 😪

That looked like a great ride. The tunnel was pretty interesting. Super effort riding so many kilometers in a day.
Thanks mate, was a fun day's riding- different world up in the high country, then back to the sandy beaches of the coast 👍
NEVER EVER disappoint Phil 🙏🙏Amazing footage and 👍🏍

Spectacular trip!! Looks like you're pretty used to the Honda now, and loving it!
It's a fun little machine Michelle, few more HP would be good, but she does the job well 😎👍

I wish they would give the KLR a sixth gear then it would be an awesome bike.
