  • I decided to document my first track sled build. After seeing one last ice fishing season, I just had to have one.

    Thanks, Joe, will follow this to the end. Might have to get me a JoeSled and pass on the SnowDog.

    Hello, from Alberta Canada,
    Great video👍 I myself are big into ice fishing, I already own two snowmobiles , but a motor sled is definitely something I always wanted... I'm looking forward to part two of this video.

      Thanks 😊 I appreciate the compliment and wish you well on your future build. I still need to tweak a few things to have it ready for the ice. One of these days I hope to be Alberta bound! (Gordon Lightfoot) 😉

    I watched your video it was very interesting and I decided to make the same as yours with a slight upgrade because it couldn't be longer than five feet because it wouldn't fit in my $500 Honda CRV I had a lot of fun ice fishing

    I don't think you would have liked that 20 horse. Too top heavy! That Predator will be a lot better. Mine, I bought through Northern Tools. It's a 14 horse Ironton Engine.....Really, I think it's too big. I like the power, but it's tippy. I made "outrigger skis" out of a snowboard cut in half. So far, that did the trick. It is wider now than I wanted though. Keep the brake unless you live in flat country! I thought I could get by without a brake, but I went over a cliff! Mountains of Idaho need brakes! Looks great so far!

    Looking forward to your progress over the coming weeks. I am curious to how it turns out. I have watched a few builds, they did some some welding which turned my off. So far looks like something I can do! Definitely a chic magnet. 🤣

    • @prospectoroutdoors
      @prospectoroutdoors  3 роки тому

      There may be a little welding in involved. Who knows, maybe I could use some Unistrut and not even bother with welding. Thanks buddy!

    Hey Joe you’ll need a clutch so your track isn’t fixed directly to the engine. Got to have some slip in there.

      @@prospectoroutdoors hey Joe it does have the auto chart and the side imaging is a game changer in the shallow water I fish.

    I'm going to be glued to this series. I think you should keep the anvil for a hood ornament. Is that dent in your tailgate so you can haul pipe?

    • @prospectoroutdoors
      @prospectoroutdoors  3 роки тому

      I think I will tie a rope to the anvil in case I fall through the ice. That way when I go to recover the machine, it won’t have moved an inch. You have an eye for detail. I just recently did some custom work on my tailgate so that it could hold a flyrod this summer.

    Hello, nice work . I wonder if there better snowmobile brands and models to chose or any one will do? Thank you.

      Great question! I would love to know the answer as well. I am thinking that a shorter track would be a plus for steering. Other than that, I am not sure. Thanks for joining me. Best of luck to you!

    So did you actually remove the suspension or just make limit bars for it? Curious I’m building one right now thanks

    I got a sled today. After you completed the video, what do you wish you would have done different?

    • @prospectoroutdoors
      @prospectoroutdoors  Рік тому

      Honestly, on the next one I might make the track shorter. That might take some work though. I’m not sure a track sled is my first choice in transportation. We shall see. I still need to get mine out in the wild and see how she purrs. Congratulations on your new toy!
