"Can't I ever have peace? Can't I rest?" Probably a question he's had in his head for years. The Doctor has done so much for the universe, saved countless planets and species. He's loved and he's lost so many people. There will come a time where he's tired and had enough. So yeah, he can have peace, he can rest. He deserves it.
I was in full tears by the time 12th regenerated. He was alone but he was…at peace, knowing that his best friend in the whole universe will always stay in his heart and his memories. And even story aside, Peter was the first Doctor I fully watched from start to finish. He was…my Doctor. It was sad to see him go. That whole scene made me cry.
Alone, but not beaten--in extremis, yet victorious. Once more summoning the lightning of change even in the darkest of hours. He was my second Doctor from beginning to end, and he remains my dearest Doctor.
Teared up when 10th regeneration happened with Vale Decem. But it was 12th regeneration with Shepherds Boy that truly had me releasing the waterworks 🥹🥲
"Wait a moment, doctor. Let's get this right. . I’ve got a few things to say to you. Basic stuff first. Never be cruel, never be cowardly. And never ever eat pears! Remember - hate is always foolish…and love, is always wise. Always try, to be nice and never fail to be kind. Oh, and….and you mustn’t tell anyone your name. No-one would understand it anyway. Except…. (Gasps and falls) Except... children. Children can hear it. Sometimes - if their hearts are in the right place, and the stars are too. Children can hear your name. But nobody else. Nobody else. Ever. Laugh hard. Run fast. Be kind. Doctor - I let you go."
this may just be my complete and total bias towards capaldi, but i truly believe his regeneration speech is the single most powerful speech we have ever had for a regeneration. its such a beautiful little moment, like hes making notes in real time for himself preparing for his regeneration, knowing not one thing about him will at all stay the same
And Sadly 13 just does not have many if at all great ones, she tried to be the Doctor but she just didn't have it like the others...that and chibnail butchering the show with his terrible script writing.
Every Doctor was great. Every single one. Some were better, some were worse, and even if 12 wasn't your favourite, he was the most Doctor version of the Doctor we've ever seen and I don't see us getting a better one sooner or later
Opposite way round for me Colin Baker then Capaldi but Capaldi was the doctor who made me a whovian, he still and will always have a special place in my heart. ❤
@skin2925 funny thing is I used to not like Colin because of that one scene from TD but watched more and listened to more of his doctor, I absolutely love him!
@@JSP_1147 honestly he really shines in big finish and season 22 and 23 trial dilemma was just a weak script (still had okay moments like 6th doctor calling peri Tegan) and fairly boring but he returned to form in attack of the cybermen
12 was the first doctor I watched live. It took till the end of 11’s run for me to catch up. For that, and many other reasons, 12 will always be the face I see when people say “The Doctor.”
That fade to black at the end is exactly how I wish this episode ended. Just imagine if we actually didn’t see Jodie at all until she crashes into the train in the following episode it would have made for a much more compelling story and a greater ending for capaldi’s run with the added bonus of being able to make a fun little head cannon ending for the show.
I never thought I'd cry more than when Tennant regenerated or when the final episode of SJA aired but DAMN!.... Capaldi made me weap. It wasn't even a super sad regeneration sequence. He grew on me over his three series and by the end, he was (and still is to this day) the best actor to ever play the doctor. Don't get me wrong, Matt & David were excellent doctors, but I felt Capaldi understood the assignment best, he brought his plethora of knowledge and endless wisdom to his performance in a way that made him the "definitive" doctor! No one else could've pulled off "Heaven Sent" so flawlessly. Capaldi is more than just "A" Doctor, He Is THE DOCTOR! The one, the only and the best! We deserved more time with Capaldi, he'd bearly scratched the surface of his potential.
I have to say no matter how often I listen to your version shepherd's boy in never gets old it is the best. a very emotional bit of music. Love your work
So glad you found this. I love this music. I love listening to soundtracks in my downtime, especially the doctor who ones. I bet for years he dreamed of being the doctor and his dream came true and I bet was sad but excited because he got to do the most iconic and important scene in the show
Think this entire music makes for a good ending. But the fact it was so good was the method of bringing together a small moment in Doctor Who in the best way possible such an incredible story of characters including having the first doctor meet his future self was in the way all stories were told lends to how emotional the story was with regards to the trench story and a fantastic way the doctor discussed who the soldier was the younger father of a later friend and then that sense of celebrations from both sides of the first world war and two sides coming together in song sent chills through me releasing how this story is partly true a day where time stopped for a few minutes and a minute or two of peace melted bullets and froze time a powerful message in the universe of Doctor Who to us all watching a series that has shown a little bit of the real history of our world at war but that music has a meaning about peace and peace is a powerful endeavour of the human race. Doctor Who isn't political it is a mirror to reflect what has happened in the past and what a fantastic future we shall be seeing then and now. The music of peace.
This is why I don’t particularly like the idea of a bi-generation, because it seems cheap way to get money, and only happened to keep David Tennant around, thus to keep more fans happy, thus to gain more viewership when it is announced that he’s coming back, thus, ironically, more money is gained. I loved the fact that Doctor who had regeneration because it showed us how much we loved the incarnation of the Doctor we were watching by the time it was time to say goodbye to him/her (personally I liked Jodie Whittaker’s acting, outing and era overall - even if the writing was very weak at times - but my favourite regenerations have got to be David Tennant’s 10th’s Doctor and Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor because they prove what Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor said to Clara before he properly regenerated: in a nutshell, it’s okay to keep on moving and changing and growing, but you must remember who you were before you moved/changed/grew). I don’t like bi-generation because it holds less emotional impact on the viewer, and I loved how regenerations made us emotional and want more time with our preferred doctors because it shows how much we loved them, and part of how it makes us emotional is the music!
Exactly, it also lessens the impact of how a Doctor regenerated, for example, The 4th dying to stop the master, 5th giving up the antidote for peri while he perished, 8's sacrifice into the War Doctor, 9 saving Rose and 10's sacrifice to save Wilfred, these are all lessened if we know now he could have just split in two and the doctor who died is still there, like how 14 is with 15, the whole point of Doctor Who, which even the 11th Doctor states as he regenerates, is change. And by keeping the dying Doctor alive so that we have two doctors at once so rather than meeting up with his past as a celebration, it just feels like the sacrifice that a doctor had to die so they would change is gone because they aren't dead or regenerated, they're just somewhere else when really they should be gone and it should only be the next doctor
I hate the idea of bi-generation, as you say it’s cheapened the impact of regeneration. RTD has also said that as the first bi-generation happened, it simultaneously happened down the line with previous Doctors, which is a horrible idea, and from a story point of view alters everything.
@@thetasigmagallifreyan Did he? That doesn't even make sense, with the Bi-Generation we see with 14-15 they physically split in two while every other Doctor has just regenerated into the other Doctor and remained the only Doctor in the room. It also doesn't make sense in the way that, what happens to the previous Doctor who the new doctor split from, do they just sort of coexist until the old one dies and they become the new one, despite having already split in two to make the new one, which already makes little sense, or do they just die as their own person and the splinter moves on or something? I don't know why he went through all the trouble of making this mess of a plot twist when he could have just had 14 regenerate into 15 and do a Time-Skip to explain why 15 is happier and whatever else
@@YamiGohan265the whole bi-generation is confusing and is causing temporal paradoxes, well for physically splitting i guess its already established that time lords can defy time warping effects in real time. So they can somewhat exist within the same time period. They just need to explain how the effect works.
My headcannon is that 14 won't regenerate like normal. Instead, after he spends a long time with Donna and her family, timey whimey shinanigains happen and 14 turns into 15 back in that moment. "Rehab out of order."
I'm so sadddddd. I loveeeee the 12th Doc so much! His relationship with River. And trying to help his frenemy Missy. T.T Only to end up hurting someone so close to him. Peter was such a good doctor. Only wished some of his stories had better scripts.
New Who is so fun! You start with 9 and you’re like, “Oh man! This guys awesome. He’s absolutely fantastic! Can’t get better than this!” Then 10 shows up and you’re like, “Oh man! This new guy is so fun and energetic, thought it couldn’t get better but the ceiling has been shattered here and probably won’t ever get better than this!” But then 11 shows up and you’re like, “Woah! This guy is young and extremely whimsical and balances the wisdom of age with the bombastic nature of a curious child! He’s so lovable this is absolutely the pinnacle and there’s no way this could get any better!” Until all of a sudden 12 shows up and you’re like, *lying on the floor of your living room in utter shock at the actual pinnacle of Doctor Who, old and new who will absolutely 100% never be able to beat because he is genuinely that actual total embodiment of everything Doctor Who has ever been entirely. That gives the best speeches and demands the most adoration simply by being perfect and though there were numerous greats before and randy fan girls seemed to completely, 100% stupid and incorrectly think that sex appeal should be the defining factor of The Doctor to be put in their place by the attack eyebrows and shown the door if they don’t like it because he’s a thousand year old time traveler who’s always been an old man in a box and don’t realize it’s kind’ve creepy that an 800 year old time traveler would wanna be romantically entangled with a 19 year old girl and actually should never have been a thing but an overly sexual show runner that can’t seem to keep that out of literally anything they write you just deal with it until finally the Doctor is shown as a perfect representation of his actual age shows up and tells those assholes to stfu* and then, when you think it can’t possible get any better, you’re…proven 100% correct and the show shits the bed and completely destroys itself with shitty writing and character development that has no business in Doctor Who fan fiction let alone the actual canon of Doctor Who doing irreparable damage to a beloved franchise for no other reason than to make some kind of stupid af point. Gotta love it.
when an odd doctor regenerates into an even one they are usually regenerating in the comfort of their companion and the tardis is fine afterwards but when an even doctor regenerates into an odd doctor he always regenerates alone and the tardis always blows up

I've watched the chibbal era twice now, and I still can barely recall anything from it other than that iteration of the master, it's pretty forgettable (aside from the timeless child stuff, I don't like to think about that). HOWEVER, I loved the 60th specials and the Christmas special, so I'm excited. They all had that "it's staring you in the face" mystery element, with a good balance of fun and seriousness, and Murray Gold's genius soundtrack. I loved it. Yeah that ending scene in the star beast was cringe and poorly written, but I still enjoyed the rest of the episode
I like to think the Time Lords decided not to count the War Doctor as a regeneration, and as a thank you, they gifted him on final regeneration. Then, before he finally passes, Testimony allows the Doctor to catch up with all his companions one last time.
Twice Upon A Time always fits as a conclusion even if not intended, it's a ending to The Doctor Falls which parallels The Tenth Planet, The 1st Doctor's final end, where The Doctor is already dying, but takes it up on himself to try and stop The Cybermen. So The First and Twelfth Doctors ends parallel to each other. Then the two meet in Twice Upon a Time before One leaves to Regenerate and Twelve leaves to Regenerate (or die, or however you see the show end stopping at Twice Upon a Time) so for those like myself who stop after 12, The first and last Doctor's endings mirror eachother then join up, it's like a full circle
@YamiGohan265 true, I DID have that same idea UNTIL the 60th specials and the following christmas special, those episodes were brilliant! Yeah, they had their problems, Doctor Who always does, but the mystery writing mashes with fun sifi over a masterpiece soundtrack (praise the return of Murray Gold) is still there!
I wonder if they are any more unreleased regeneration themes outside of a Hologram variant for Nine or a Doomsday variant used for Ten's meta-crisis regeneration or Vale Unus? Like from the Second Doctor or variations of Ten's or Eleven's? Also, you have not published the unreleased bi-generation theme yet.
Honestly I don't care how much people complain about how long this is or how bad series 10 is, this is my 2nd favourite regeneration in the whole series. It's a goodbye to my favourite doctor and my favourite tardis interior. It's also a very special regeneration to me because this was the current era when I got into the show and this was the very first episode I watched live when it aired. This regeneration alone made Christmas 2017 a special one that won't ever be forgotten. It's just a shame that the era that came after this was a huge let down
Doctor who Ended for me at Husband of River song. But this variant was really good. I won't lie. The ones after this and with 60th and jodie was a disgrace..

DO DOCTOR WHO THEME WITHOUT BREATHING SOUNDS
Do as anyone know if this Apple Music somewhere?
I’d love to add this my playlist
I have the original version on Spotify but not this one
Unfortunately season 10s music isn’t released yet
@@Wurmze oh so sad
Honestly I don't care how much people complain about how long this is or how bad series 10 is, this is my 2nd favourite regeneration in the whole series.
It's a goodbye to my favourite doctor and my favourite tardis interior. It's also a very special regeneration to me because this was the current era when I got into the show and this was the very first episode I watched live when it aired. This regeneration alone made Christmas 2017 a special one that won't ever be forgotten.
It's just a shame that the era that came after this was a huge let down

Cuddle.. 😭

Can someone dub the speech over ?
Last piece before the show got permanently ruined
Doctor who Ended for me at Husband of River song. But this variant was really good. I won't lie.
The ones after this and with 60th and jodie was a disgrace..
no one asked, begone
@ParakoEPC oh my. Seems very like a very unprofessional behavior coming from a big youtuber like yourself over an opinion. I will not begone becausei have an opinion even tho i gave a positive opinion of a music piece. My bad that i hit a nerve. :/
