- Shooting passion projects can be tough, in this video I break down how I shot a short film on short notice while on a budget. Pre-production of short films and organization is key!

What you call budget...is the privilege of resources. It is not realistic and not available to most. This was a misleading title.
I love Brady’s videos but you’re right…
Without being rude i was thinking exactely the same.
The gears only coast one arm...
So right , just the Lightning casually send from apature
Exactly what i thought
Stop being soft
Nice video but when you put budget in a title it’s like limited to no resources you seem to have very nice expensive equipment
film fest is about to be a mooooooovieeee
I love your work Brady, but i hate it when youtubers say "film on a budget" and it turns out "aputure send" really expensive gear... haha... (don't take it the wrong way) XD
Seeing those few behind the scenes shots, you can already tell that your short film is going to look awesome. Creating for your own love of the craft gives projects a feeling of freedom and fun.
Dude. I’ve been struggling forever to figure out how to get going on a short film project for almost a year now. This video is a huge inspiration and gave me so much motivation to get out and get it finished. Thanks for all you do man, your videos are incredibly informational and amazing. Keep it up man!
Starting with the vision, taking action... and everything falls into place!! Nice work
It's great when others say, just make something. And it forces you to act. So many times i have been like....I don't think I'll make that video. And so glad I did after the fact. It's super fun to do projects like that. That Gaffer was clutch.
Brady this BTS video looked great. When will we be able to see the completed film?
"On A Budget"
* looks at the gear in the description list *
Yeah, sure, that's like not that much.
I'm currently going through almost the same experience, 5 days before the 2-3 day short film shoot (my first film) and listening to you definitely helps, calming the mind, since I'm not alone in such an experience: making a film without any budget )) Thank you!
How'd it go?
Your intro is so raw and beautiful! It feels like we are talking, I can listen to you for hours( though I am not a good listener)
This means a lot thank you so much
If you ever need voice over I'm your guy blessing
Thank you for this! Writing this down
@@BradyBessette you're welcome
Brady, you never disappoint on your videos, many times i have came so close to quitting. I have spent thousands on a dream that I have, but I have had to learn from lighting, videography, editing, audio....the whole 9 yards by myself, your love and talent for filming has regenerated my spirit many times. Most of my cinemaphotography is for private clients on time that i have to squeeze in. I want to do short films but hardly have any time to do so, every once in a while I get to shoot a short video but its always a rush and it comes out like a beginners lol. Anyways, keep up with the tutorials and great most humble videos out there. look forwards to seeing a short film from you soon. Thanks and keep filming.
What kamera used for this BTS shooting?
10:24 you have a little milk on your hoodie.
Dam and I thought no one would notice
@@BradyBessette I did notice also lol ... great content!
What’s the name of the movie ?
This is an amazing story about a project and inspiration. Yet all I can think about is how much of a privilege it is to be able to have 2 weeks available that you can devote to something like this. And I feel like that's not at all lost of Brady which is why this is inspiring. I would love to do it some day but I just don't think it's in the cards for me or most people. I recently took a week off of work and I realized that was the most time I had spent not working since I graduated highschool 15 years ago.
For people whose profession it is to work in film, these two weeks isn't time off work, rather it IS work. If you have a different full time job, there are some interesting ways to get a film done. Search for shooting a feature film during weekends. Could do similar time planning with a short film.
Bro, just catching up on your latest videos and this one was so so good! Got me inspired to go out and make a film ASAP
Which Slider did you use?
The shorts looks great, congrats!... I wanted to know how do You manager the squeeze factor change when pushing in with the Sirui lens?... I'm thinking on shooting a little film myself and don't know if it's really an issue or not.
"LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH".... nice video man!
Shooting a short film in a workshop, there you go, I fixed it for you.
جالب بود برام
Dudeeee I start so many scripts but i can never cohesively link everything together, so I totally get you man. its hard.
Your friend Peter looks like the main character from Bridge to Tarabithia. xD
Always enjoy your content! I've Learned TONS from you. Title is a "bit" misleading. Although not your gear, lots of expensive Aputure lights used that most wouldnt have access to. The phrase "On a Budget" means two different things for us I guess.
Supper
What the title of the Short film .
Would like to check it out when it drops
Kool oh and love the music track at the end kool😅😅😅
I love watching behind the scenes, it teaches a lot! Also, where can I see the short film you shoot?
I can’t wait for Aputure to send us free lights to use on our movies as well!
Best of luck with the film in the festival dude I am sure it will be great 👍
where do you get your inspiration photos? epic video!!
What brand diopters are you using?
Nice man, looking forward to seeing it!
I had no money… saca un equipo de minimo 30K jajaja gosgrin pero
Awesome video! Truly inspiring
how long is the track of your dana dolly
Really cool that u give an inside on the progress!
This breakdown is amazing!! Thanks so much for sharing this!
Iloved and Iwant to see the short film hahaha
I loved this video Brady and would also love to see the final short film. Congrats to the whole team for your great effort and spirit! Can I ask if you used a diopter on the Sirui? Because I noticed that you took some very close shots, like one of the camerawork and I know that Sirui minimum focal distance don't allow to get too close to the subject.
Okok, but where is she? You know who 🙂
May your grandfather rest in peace
2 mins after posting i am blessed
I am Wish, iPhone 13 :(

do you have link of your film
Hey Brady - fantastic video, as always. I've followed your channel for a long while. I work as a Digital Director at a small studio close to D.C. - It's the traditional talking head, commercial type stuff. Anyways, I've been trying to get the inspiration to create a passion project. With that said, I always get stuck when realizing that I can't do it solo, so I end up sticking my ideas on a shelf.
With that in mind, your video was extremely perfect for timing, as I've been toying around with creating a video using music my dad wrote/played back in the day. I've got an album he created when he was in his early 20s, we actually paid to get to record it in a studio for a birthday gift. He just turned 70 and I have this vision to show him the realization of one of his songs into a video.
I could talk for days on this but one of his songs, I know was written about being alone after a breakup - yet the song/lyrics really speaks towards my own battles with alcohol. I've been sober 18months and for some reason this song (I have his CD in my car) just smacks me in the face. And I've had this idea to turn it into a video. It communicates how I felt, and I just want to make a video about it. Yet I want it to be done right. The song could also be relevant to my relationship with my wife, and how I lost that connection. Yet through my own work in finding sobriety - I've found everything I need, including the love that's all around me.
I have this vision that was basically me lost in my own head, deep in my alcoholic brain. It's like running on a treadmill trying to get to a light at the end of a tunnel, with people being so close to you, yet you can't see them because you're stuck. I feel this song could show the despair and loneliness while also showing how we can get out of it. And what that looks like.
As I'm writing this I feel like sharing the song with you would make the most sense, I'll have to pull it from the CD. Anyways, sorry for this ramble - yet I thought it could potentially be an interesting subject matter. If this at all piques your interest, let me know.
Hey Adam! This is so heartwarming to hear I absolutely love this so thank you thank you thank you. I love the idea of that film! Especially the ones that hit closest to home are the most fun yet emotional projects to work on
Inspiring video bro.
