- Опубліковано 16 чер 2016
- Every time that I've tried papaya, it has tasted disgusting! I couldn't understand how anyone could eat it or like it. Then I found out that it needs to be fully ripe to be enjoyable. So I bought a whole papaya and decided to let it ripen. This is what happened.

Papaya tastes like vomit, only way I can describe it.
I just ate a ripe papaya and it’s tasted like straight Starbucks Carmel ice coffee just was sure other people are tasting the same thing or am I crazy be I have never tasted one this sweet I think this is my new favorite fruit 😛
TASTES LIKE VOMIT
Smells like it too
Smells like poo.
My first ripe papaya did have a slight odor. My first bite was good but not as sweet as I thought it would have been and it was slightly savory! which was a slightly unpleasant surprise. sorta like a gatorade savory but not as intense. It did have a slight coffee taste which was strange. I'm gonna stick with cantaloupe and mangos and peaches!
Thank you! This was truly helpful
Just purchased my first one today and it smells but it’s super sweet. I squeezed half a lime over it and added some blueberries! Yummy!
we eat a lot of papaya in mexico, and it is very good for your stomach, the chunks that is he is eating have an aceptable flavor, but the part that have a bad flavor is where the seeds are bounded or conected, but the redish part is good... papaya is not sweet, it is a bit like eating a melon without the sweet part
That sounds soo dumb hahaha
It tastes like a mix between a pumpkin, squash, and a cantaloupe when not ripe
Papaya;DONT SMELL IT,EAT IT.
To me it has like no taste and is somewhat like a melon
we eat a lot of papaya in mexico, it is very healty for your stomach, you should give it a second chance, just dont eat the part where the seeds are hanging, thats what tastes a little bad... red part is what is tasty, papaya is not sweet at all btw
all fruit tastes better when it is truly ripe and its sad most Americans don't know that.
I've found that to be the case as well. Most fruit are fully ripe only when they're a bit soft, some fruit only when very soft. Americans eat all fruit when they're still as crisp as an apple which for most other fruits is very underipe
It tastes nasty either way. Asians cook with it unripe bigot.
Well yea but it’s kinda hard to get it ripe because you buy it unripe and it starts going bad
Robyn I do not like ripe bananas! Too squishy
You think Americans walk around eating green bananas? Lmfaoo
thanks for letting us enjoy papaya ripe :D
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
ill I don't like papaya it tastes nasty I tried it and I didn't like it I started to vomit.
"tastes like coffee"
SOLD.
I want to try papaya now.
We tried this in Spanish class and it smelled petty sweet, but tasted like onion if I could describe it the best that way. The texture was like watermelon too, pretty weird.
I went to the internet to see how papaya was supposed to taste. It tasted like eating super soft uncooked sweet potato. Wasn't really sweet.
Really good really ripe papaya is sweet and tastes a little bit like butterscotch and a little bit like coffee. But when it's not ripe enough, it's not really good. I like to wait until the skin is all yellow and starting to get soft.
it def does taste like coffee but i love all fruits so i don't care lol
What tastes like coffee?
@@paigiewagie7796 papaya
LXRYLXRYTV oh wow mine did not at all lol I thought you meant the seeds but I realized she said the fruit tastes like that
When I was lil I use to eat this cuz as a kid my dad feed me fruits sum times but now I can't stand it smells like baff
The smell is hoooorrible.
I agree. The less ripe it is, the worse the smell.
Carry Haulwell 😫😫😫 it tastes really good in smoothies though, brings out the flavor.
Our papaya smells like toilet cleaner or soemthing, quite perfume like. I felt like someone watered it with a citrusy perfume or toilet cleaner
I just cut mine too early :( what do I do?
I just throw mine out when that happens.
I was shocked when I bought one today and it tasted like a bowl of puke. I thought you had to do the squeeze test to test the ripeness, well now I know now. 🤣
😦😣If you want to experience the ULTIMATE in astringency, to learn the PUREST definition of the term, try eating an unripe persimmon some time! My grandmother used to make what she called "persimmon pudding", although it didnt really resemble "pudding" per se. It was very good, and very sweet, with zero astringency. So, when I noticed a small grove of about 4 old persimmon trees growing behind a client's house, I decided to eat one, expecting that sweet flavor. Apparently they were NOT yet ripe, because there was no sweetness, but there was an EXTREME astringency that initially had me thinking I'd misidentified the fruit, and that maybe I'd unintentionally poisoned myself! It was brutal, like those old cartoons where someone sneaks alum into a rival character's food or drink, and it causes extreme puckering of their face and mouth! 😣😫
🚫 It wasn't til later I learned that you have to wait til persimmons are overripe, soft & mushy before you even think of eating them! 😖
i hate papaya juice from grandpa
Better than durian
there are a lot of fruits and vegetables that we eat in mexico and south america and the u.s. citizens doesnt know lol, i bet you dont know jicamas neither cactus apples, ;)

Never eat papaya it tastes nasty.
I've had papaya and I've waited for it to turn all yellow. But when I've eaten it it tasted kind of milky, and bitter. I'm not a fan
What kind of papaya was it? Do you know? I've never had that problem with the Caribbean Red. I've been eating them all summer.
+Carry Haulwell I have no idea, I bought it from Walmart haha,

Horrible fruit
My neighbors had a papaya tree with apparently dropped a seed into my yard, so now I have a papaya tree growing as well. LOL. It's about 6 feet tall and has about 13 fruits growing. So the day is coming when I'll have a papaya harvest, but my experience with this fruit is the same as yours - kind of...um...eww. Still, lots of people like it, so I'm thinking there must be some skill or strategy required to eating this fruit and enjoying it.
Papaya can remove dirt and poop on ur belly
really?
Infinite Rumination Dallas kills worms and parasites and your stomach and digestive tract also
Pinpin HD but you have to eat the seeds.

Then which papaya is good?
My parents are from Mexico. My fathers side of family loves this crap. I always thought it tasted and smelled like vomit. Come to find out that papaya has same enzyme as human digestive system.
