One day he growled and snapped at my son when he went to go pet him. I immediately told the children to leave her alone until we could assess why she was distressed. At the vet's examination we discovered she was very ill from a tick bite and her kidneys were failing. He prescribed pain medication and a mild sedative if needed. Unfortunately, there was only a experimental drug available that was very expensive and probably it was too late due to the significant kidney damage. We took her home and had to put down pee pads because she had lost control of her bladder. She passed in the night two weeks later. She hid her pain and illness until it was too much for her to handle. She had been such a gentle and playful dog. She was really missed by the family, especially the children.
We had a German Shepherd who was the best dog our family ever had. My mama loved him because he not only made sure he followed us out the door to go play but if we split he would follow the one he knew would most need his protection

I grew up with German Shepherds all my life since I was 78 years old and I’m now 68. They’re the most loyal, obedient understanding affectionate dogs. You could imagine children they were protect them with their life. Also importantly, if you’re a lover of dogs and it’s reciprocal, you become a very good person, kind thoughtful and above our to humans and to animals alike.

I knew that with sudden medical problems i could give him the attention he needed and that my grandchildren still played with him, it was not the same. I loved this story. Dogs are very perceptive to unknown dangers. My Dog Buster n I escaped near death in March this year when the False Ceiling in the Hall came crashing down at 5:30 am. I was sitting near the Table doing some work till 1 am. Imagine if I had dozed off there itself. My Doggy just rushed into my Bedroom , which is the Adjusting room to the Hall , in time to save himself. He sleeps on the Sofa , which is right below , where the Roof fall took place.
