Idun is an absolute winner for the entire playthrough. Golden Apple is just too good, but her stats make her also a reliable Force-Demon.
Enduring Soul/Abyssal Mask/Boon Boost EX/Golden Apple +5/Debilitate +5 with filler slots has been my endgame build.
A top 10 demon to use. Her early-midgame availability helps a ton. Adorable design too
I don’t get why people use idun late game just use tao
You can’t fuse Tao, so Idun’s stats are much better than hers. Idun’s Wind coverage is better than Tao’s Light coverage during this fight. Not to mention, Tao’s progress is not carried over to NG+
@@jdjgg9398 there's an ability later which u can give ur demons extra stats when level up. So the stats would eventually outclass Tao by miles, n not to mention u can't carry Tao to NG+ until near the ending.

Damn Demi-Fiend did Chaotic Will twice after you sealed him! Even after successfully doing it once he still did it again. You must’ve really pissed him off. Lol

I actually saw someone who played smt v over 18 times collecting stat boost and I think they raised their vitality to 430 and Demi fiends Gaea rage did like 900 damage

He played 15 times, raised his vitality to 400, and Gaea Rage did like 280 damage
Man, I just noticed. SMT5 went to the trouble of remixing Nocturne's _Normal Battle,_ but the remix only uses the guitar solo from the OST version. So, just like DDS, they don't even have the various solos of the song.
Like they fixed the problem with the old version (Nocturne's compressed music leaving only one solo in CD quality) by remixing it, but still only used one solo. Baffling.

It’s an incredible game. I was on the fence about getting it and ended up putting 80hrs into it within the first 10 days or so. And I’m not that type of gamer either. I’m usually much more casual, but this game sucked me in
It's a little lacking in the story departement, and have some slight performance issue, but everything else is great.
@@nesoukkefka1741 I think the performance issues will be present in every non-nintendo Game for the switch, but the Story department was the only downer to it overall.
It got better, but only at the summit onward. And the only characters who felt badly written were the human ones. Tao's was even atleast OK when she became a Demon companion. Everything non-Demon related was just.... Off, rushed and unfinished.
I want to get it as well but have a mortgage and other bills to pay as well as a wife and kids and 2 cars to insure but maybe it'll be released on Steam someday like 3, who knows? 2 holds up really well to this day and 4 is one of my all time favorites on my old 3DSxl.
@@germandragon8664 smt 5 is a switch exclusive, funny how you have to emulate smt 5 with a pc for the best performance 60fps+
Sweet, thank you for the guide, i was able to defeat him on both normal and hard using it, the only problem i had was that at the beginning he kept sealing Shiva, after that it was smooth sailing.

It's just a key item that signifies you beat him. The real reward of beating Demi-Fiend is his Essence

Could you make a fusion tutorial on your late game idun build or did you just use a lot of essences?
I mainly focused on getting high stats on her, then looked up which Essences had the skills I wanted. The Warriors Conception and Prayer miracles can allow for fused Demons to have really high stats
I was thinking of using Cleopatra because of the Frolic and being able to charm might be a good thing in this fight. Otherwise, I'm just trying to boost my Shiva and Idun as much as I can. I think I have 150 magic magic Idun which might be a bit overkill. Thanks for the video!
where can you find that many incenses? People have there stats maxed like crazy and i cant seem to find any.
@@tunn6733 Just farm Mitamas, is not that time consuming as you migh think.

What were your fusions to get that Idun build if I may ask?
I mainly got the skills via Essences. When fusing, I had the Warrior's Conception/Prayer miracles to get increased stats on Idun. Levelling up her fusion components (Ame-no-Uzume, Hua Po and Parvati) beforehand helps as well.

What essence did you use to get those affinities for nahobino?
Trumpeter. Mother Harlot, Metatron, Sandalphon are also good choices
Is there a higher chance of demi fiend using chaotic will when there’s null/Drn/rpl on your party? Also I think he tried chaotic willing you twice because his summon turn interrupted his scripted chaotic will turn. Not sure why it was 2 chaotic wills but I think the explanation at least explained one of them

That “Accursed Poison” Magatsuhi to stop Demi-Fiend’s heal is awesome! Is it guaranteed to stop it?
I think him healing himself + the whole party is gonna be a big obstacle when I make another hard mode attempt.
Yeah, if you use Accursed Poison on the turn his HP drops below 50%, it'll always apply Seal and stop the heal

@@bainz 3rd Plathrough finally beat him on Hard Mode thanks to that Accursed Poisen/Zhuque. Zhuque didn’t last in very long but since his Magatsuhi is worth 30,000 damage he’s definitely MVP lol!

Great Mana Spring + Stamina Incense I believe
You can farm incense with your navigators, Hua Po has the highest chance of finding incense
Great Mana Spring, and I think I’ve used every Stamina Incense I’ve gotten on her. Incenses are hard to get, but mainly quests, Miman rewards and from navi Demons
@@bainz the area odaiba in Da'at Minato, which you can unlock from accepting a quest in Da'at Taito, has for me atleast the highest amount of sutras and incenses dropped. I tried it out with Amanozako and Aitvaras and both got me a bunch of sutras and even a nice stack of Vitality-Incense, even Amanozakos chance of finding a Demon was almost non-existent in that area.
I just put Great Mana Spring with Spirit Drain. Probably not good for Demi Fiend because you want to be constantly doing damage, but I’m not there yet, and I’ll change her build às necessary when I get there.

why is it that when idun uses golden apple it barely takes any mana? How did you do that?
It's still using up 107 MP. I used a bunch of Stamina Incenses to raise Idun's MP stat. Increasing Idun's healing skill potential reduces the cost of Golden Apple from 126 to 107
same....idun is way too good....not sure why they made her available so early LOL
Demi fiend is the only king race demon
Why not use Shiva's signature attack to inflict a lot of damage and lower their defenses to the lowest possible more often?
Most likely mana issues since its a really long fight.
Also press turns help. A lot.
Was using the same strategy but demi fiend ended up recovering HP to everybody mid way, what triggers this?
He’ll always heal at half HP. Which is why you use Accursed Poison on the turn he drops below half to seal him, preventing the heal
@@bainz Thanks bro I manage to win after my 20th or so try! Didn't go as smooth (had to switch to 4 other demons) but managed to pull it through in the end.
How are you supposed to manage with Chaotic Will?

Me haha, and i very much regret it, the skills he gets are very much physically orientated
But until i beat this demi fiend, i wont have a good skill to actually use for those stats

I don't quite understand the point of using zhuque over other demons like a yoshitsune or a cleo. Van you explain his main role in this compared to the others?
I assume for the the Avian/Raptor Magatsuhi skill "Accursed Poison" is just poorly balanced. Debilitate + 90 percent of the time AOE Sealing is braindead.
If you do it at the right time, you can skip Demi Fiends' Mediarahan turn.

Yoshitsune is not good in this fight bc of random targeting. Zhuque is better than Cleo here bc of Accursed Poison and Fire coverage > Ice coverage

I thought he uses gaea rage when he uses 6 actions and not 3 turns
Yes, it's after 6 actions. He acts twice per turn, which means he casts it after 3 turns.
If Demi Fiend used his full power we all know in lore she will lose so badly
Now I wonder, can you try this again BUT use only the DLC demons?
It'd take like double the amount of time bc no Tandava and Golden Apple. Shiva and Idun are better than any of the DLC Demons

Uh, not really. Danu’s skill is situationally useful (when you’re debuffed/statused). Whereas Idun’s is useful every turn. And Wind coverage is better than Ice in this fight. You can run her, it’s just not as good

Why Zhuque?
Because Accursed Poison is required to skip Mediarahan and fire coverage is pretty good in this fight.
