Interesting review. The swift may have hard plastics, but suzuki has invested a lot on costly high tensile steel for lightness and reliable mechanicals. Some manufacturers cosset you with soft touch plastics to deceive you with cheaper , unreliable mechanicals. I truly appreciate Suzuki's honesty.
Follow up - bought a blue Swift Sport, 2021.. cracking car - shift quality not as good as my old MX5 ND, (but not many cars beat that shift) fast into the corners and out, great grip, linear power, the cheap plastics don't bother me, as I don't stroke the dash when I drive, lol, my only criticism is the exhaust is too quiet. I can fix that;)
Ohlukei I’ve heard of several people putting the standard car on a rolling road and getting 155bhp on average so Suzuki is definitely being modest with the official figure. That sort of power combined with the surprisingly light weight (for a modern car) explains the very good performance. Standard 0-60 is meant to be more like 7 seconds too.
The first car I drove back on the road for my first driving lesson was the original swift. It seems they have come so far from this model :) nice review as usual guys :)
I own a ZC32 Sport which I bought a month ago. The power is average but the handling around our mountain passes is brilliant. Sadly I'll sell her when the new SSS is released here.
It’s one of our favourites that car and that engine, and the handling 👌 - incidentally we’ve got the S Cross on review currently with hybrid Booster Jet, fun in a back road.
Great car for the money, but my only concern is there seems to be a lot of noise in the cabin in this video. Is that down to the recording equipment used, or is it more quiet in reality ?
@@PlanetautoUK Good to know! Highly consider this as my new fin but at the same time practical daily driver. Best of both worlds and better value than fiesta ST and VW Polo GTI. And it looks better IMO :)
It’s not a hot hatch chaps. These days to be in that category you need to be putting out 200 bhp. 30 years ago it would of been a hot hatch but not these days. It’s a very good all rounder but it needs a stage one tune, 180 bhp and it would be the complete package.
What do people think of this SSS in the special "champion Yellow" , have found a 6months demo at the right price (£14.000).....only drawback is it's that yellow like as it certainly stands out....my only concern is that colour is ethier going to be big drawback in holding it value (as it's a colour unique to the Sport) or destroy it's value later on!
We like Yellow, as for value down the line depends on how many models were made in that colour and if there were any additions to that specific model / colour.
It does. In Australia at least. But sorry, disagree. The auto might be faster, but I'd rather DRIVE my car, nothing beats the satisfaction of synchronising shift, pedal and steer through bends. Way more fun.
Alan Rogers I was wondering the same. I had an Abarth 595 new about 4 years ago, and personally think it sounded a lot better than this Swift sport, but the Swift is a bigger comfier car than the Abarth for longer journeys, and has a 6th gear which is helpful, but I do think that maybe the 1 litre boosterjet would have more character as a daily driver for commuting, and for less money of course.

Thank you, Suzuki know how to build a strong reliable and now lighter car.
Suzuki's are tough;) I know! I've owned one for 7 years and about to buy another
Proper motors, reliable too.

@@martyn_g lucky you!enjoy . i think the original exhaust note is cool though.
I'm 76 and over the years many cars fast ford's I love petrol and diesel : not E Vs : believe me this swift is the best car I have ever owned
Yup - the Swift is a damn good car, Graham. Suzuki do know what they are doing. *A
Thanks for the review. This car actually has 163 HP (120 kW). The 140 HP that Suzuki have stated is the 'at the wheels' power.
MrZekToR thank you, we always quote at the wheels rather than the flywheel.
where can I find the source for that info? quite interesting if that is true! O.o

It’s a fantastic car, thank you for the extra info
Nice little car I been in one and they pull from 0-40 so quick
Jesse Robertsvideos they do, they’re also quick at 50mph and above, great fun, thank you.
I am coveting this now, promised myself I wouldn't. 🙈
MatP111 - easier said than done
@@PlanetautoUK my friend was Lent one in that colour and we took it the highway and holy moly they have some power for such a little car

mattsbeamer the Swift has come a long, this is one fun car, thank you
Neat car. Really like the Swift Sport.
It’s not just looks either, it performs very well too.
Just a little more premium in the interior, and maybe a little knock softer on bumpy roads, I'm sure the sale of suzuki Swift will take off!
Remi Andre' Pedersen yes we’d agree a few more luxury touches, and it really does handle thanks to that stiffer suspension, thank you

They handle amazingly, the power surprised us at higher speeds the way it still pulls at decent rate
I've got one it's maybe not the quickest but it certainly feels fast and it's fun, quick off the mark though
It’s one of our favourites that car and that engine, and the handling 👌 - incidentally we’ve got the S Cross on review currently with hybrid Booster Jet, fun in a back road.
Suzuki is one hell of a car
Great fun, nimble and quick enough, thank you
I had a fuel consumption of 5,3 l / 100 km, that's equal to 44,38 mpg!
Economy, where’s the fun in that 😆 great mileage though, it looks like the cars capable just not me *ben

It’s not bad at all, we use a professional RODE mic and it is sensitive, best bet try one, thank you
Planet Auto thanks for replying mate
Great review ,ill have to save some money and buy it :)
Well worth it, great value for money too!
Great review. Thanks! :)
two40 thank you
great review! how is the audio quality in terms of listening to music/spotify
Not bad, decent sound, did us well - thank you Thomas

Yes, for some reason they’re now warm hatches, that just doesn’t give it the credit it’s due. It’d be rapid with 180 bhp 😀
Thing is a lot of 200bhp cars weigh 1300kg this is under 1000kg with 150bhp so bhp is close
Indeed the key is power to weight, thank you Lassy

Wise words 😊
Do you remember if it’s noizy on Highway ? Thanks
No, not noticeably - a bit of tire noise on old roads, but overall cabin refinement is good, thank you Jean
@@PlanetautoUK thanks a lot. Not much coming from engine or exhaust then ? I was wondering if noizier than the 111hp one ;)
@@jlolivelondon if you floor it, it’s got a nice tone, but at normal revs refined.
150bhp in 975kg ain’t bad
No, it's enough...*A
Warm hatch? Great car though!
Thank you, fun feels hot hatchy on the back lanes more feeling likened more to say a Valver
if it came with automatic gearbox and steering wheel paddle shifters that would be really nice
ooo that'd tranform the experience, thank you Simon

Good car review, out of my price range, but the 1.0 booster jet standard swift, has a better sound and a good price.
Thank you, they certainly are fun cars.

6th is ALWAYS there for economy. And to enable 5th to be usable. Goes without saying.
Depends on the car, for example in a Veyron 7th is not primarily for economy, rather a higher top speed. *ben
He says “hot hatch” quite a bit in this video.
Xenophene01 well spotted, I’m sure he’d get it in another 10 times without anyone noticing, hot hatch is pretty accurate though
Shame about the sunroof. Maybe an aftermarket one
There’s a few out there with them, looks like it’s possible as aftermarket, thank you Anthony
