    You can do anything with an 335 style guitar. Guitar players minds are boxed as hell, putting rules where should be freedom and creativity

      You can do anything with any style of guitar, though you might look odd playing country on a Dimebag Darrell signature. 😂

    Another thing with a thinline is that the notes tend to bloom and get louder when it's hit softly. Amazing guitars which are so versatile and generally misunderstood

    Jazzmasters! I only see people talk about them as either surf or alt-rock guitars, but I know they can do more than that. I know they were used a lot by country players and of course Chris Stapleton plays Jazzmasters and he's a soul/country artist.

    I love my two Hollowbody guitars. I have a PRS Hollowbody II with Piezo and a PRS McCarty 594 HBii and BOTH are beautiful sounding guitars and extremely versatile. I love a HB for Rock/metal...

    You can do anything with any guitar. The trick with a hollow body or semi-hollow is dialing it in to get the sound you want while being able to control the feedback.
    I think feedback control is the main reason people tend tk avoid the 335 and similar guitars for higher gain tones.

    Hmmm - sure it can do Metal, but in my opinion there is no need to do it!
    Blues and Blues-Rock is the territory of my 1986 Gibson ES-335 Dot!
    But it was very interesting to watch and listen!

    I recently got a 335 just like the one you are using. I have no problem with the neck and bridge pickup tones. Coming from a Strat, the humbuckers translate OK with a little tone shaping. But I use the middle pickup on a Strat quite a bit, and there's nothing on the 335 that comes close to that. The two pickup combination is too nasally. Rolling off the neck pickup a little give a different tone, but it's hard to get it just right in a gigging situation. What do you do when you need a Strat middle pickup tone, and have a 335 in your hands?

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  2 роки тому +5

      Well. When you say better... better for whom? Everyone prefers something else and I don't think there's a "better" and "best" guitar for everyone. It's way too subjective. Duesenbergs have a vintage look with a thin modern neck and a pretty modern tone. That's great of course. Still, for example I like big necks and a more traditional tone. I'm not a big fan of poly finishes either, which is again, just a personal preference. I'm definitely not saying that I'm right, this should just prove that "better" and "worse" is not really a thing when we're talking about guitars. And with all of that out of the way, we will have Duesenbergs on the show, I promise. Those are very well made guitars and definitely deserve some love. Cheers! //Kris

    I m guessing that anyone who has a Gibson 335 also has the budget to make it sound any way they like, thing is, what happens when you're on a budget, from the guitar, all the way to the pedals and amp. Maybe a modelling amp? Anyway, nice one once again fellas, really nice explaining the different pedals for different sounds and setups. As for a suggestion, i d like something "backwards", for example a metal guitar playing "mellower" stuff, like blues or jazz? That would be a treat 😆

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Kostas! You can get very similar tones with less expensive 335 style guitars too. The weakest point of those is mostly the pickups and the rest of the electronics. Which can be upgraded of course. And about the metal guitar playing other styles: that is definitely on my list for this series. :) Cheers //Kris

    Great timing!! I love my 335 clone, but am struggling to find tones in my head (I am very much a noob, even at 63). What were the guitar settings for you clean tones? Tone settings? Volume? Thanks! Hey, how about that tele twang?

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  2 роки тому

      Hey Bruce, I had all the knobs at 10 for the clean tones. Volume, tone, everything. All you need for that tone is a balanced sounding amp. If the guitar doesn't sound as percussive and open, not even with a nice amp, then the pickups of the guitar are not PAF style humbuckers. Cheers //Kris

    I'm surprised such videos are still a debate lol, just plug it into noise gate + EQ + compressor + booster + EVH 5105 and anything will sound like a chugging machine lol
    guitars don't matter that much unless your pickup is ok, the processing/amp/cab/mic always mattered much more
