I think kapkan is a great operator. Too many people want to lazily rush into the map and kapkan is perfectly designed to counter those people while also being the easiest operator to counter in the entire game. Yes, good players do still die to kapkans, but any good player who dies to kapkan will likely be more frustrated at themselves than with the operator/game

And when you put two kapcan charges on them it can give nice reward! Thats propably reason for the Console high ban rate. PC side people are more experienced I think and change their tactics more. They are less likely to sufffer from Kapcan as much I think.
Genuinely think the biggest issue is the meta. It doesn’t encourage you to play meticulously, people are flying around the map mindlessly and relying on gun skill. Personally where Kapkan feels annoyingly strong is in the last minute of the round when things get frantic
Exactly. Kapkan isnt op on his own, he just counters a popular playing style, and people just ban him so they can't get punished as hard for playing the game incorrectly.
I think Kapkan is good for the health of the game because he keeps a lot of operators in check, you can easily see this if you look at the pick rates for ash, the only reason kapkans win rate is high is because so many people pick rushing ops like ash, I think kapkan helps discourage one of the most controversial playstyles- rushing. If kapkan was nerfed then ash pick rates would shoot through the roof.
Kapkan is not problematic the people who die to them are since if you dont have 3 seconds to look down your clearly not paying that much attention to the game it punishes the Ash's and Amaru's who just sprint into site its a good operator and he does his job well

sure that could work if you still got 2 minutes on the clock, but time isn't always on your side, if you're within that last minute, you gotta make a play and droning 9 times out of 10 will eat away at your precious time

Kapkan is a really balanced operator but a lot of people hate him because they play too aggressively. He gets countered by every single operator (drones) and yet he still manages to make people angry.
When I die due to a Kapkan trap I always say: "OMG, what an amateur am I..". His trap are just easy to counter, pick Twitch or Brava, or simply just drone out their traps. Yes, there are many door frames on a map, but you only have to drone the necessary ones, where you go through. Only exceptions are the site doors but only a few of them hard to shoot and not many Kapkan players put traps to site doors. The reasons why he's banned 50% of the matches are the brain dead tdm meta players who can't drone out a door or pay attention to their feet, only just out aim their opps.

If you are emerald or higher and die to Kapkan ,it's because of laziness. Use your drone. You don't need to drone every door way in the entire map. Just the door ways you are going to be pushing from. 5 drones are more than enough to make kapkan traps obsolete.
I literally see no problem with Kapkan. Just having an IQ completely ruins any traps Kapkan may have set up. Similar to Frost, if the attackers see Kapkan in the defense line up, they'll start checking common doorways more often. And this applies to pretty much every trap operator, really. Kapkan is the text book definition of a trap operator; he slows the enemy down one way or another, has a good gun that isn't too crazy, and relies on the player taking the information the traps give and play around said information. Like any operators, difference between noob Kapkan and good Kapkan is also very clear. Noob Kapkan will mistakenly put traps in areas where either no one really goes or in areas that are easy to spot while pro Kapkans do a much better job at hiding their traps while keeping them in a high traffic areas to slow down rushes. Someone like Girtania has shown some 300 IQ Kapkan traps in his videos. There definitely is a skill gap and a learning curve to the operator, it's not just an operator who will get you free kills if you're lucky
Kapkan is the skill check operator Against good players he’s ok, but if you miss his EDDs he can easily clean out two of the opposing team Not to mention he forces your crosshair away from the direction you wanna face so if you play around them you can swing the attackers while they’re clearing out

Problematic is a strong word tbh the operator really hasn’t changed much but the players have players are playing rainbow have gotten really lazy not checking doors and so they die or loose health that could’ve been avoided so they ban him 🤷🏽♂️ players in high ranks literally ban him cause it makes them think a little harder about which way to rush to OBJ

With all due respect kudos, i`ve been a fan of yours for a while now, but i think you completely missed on that one. First of all siege players consantly complain about the TDM Meta and wish to go back to a 2021 esque Utility Meta, yet somehow when a utility based defender is picked they aren`t happy. Besides having some of the most counters in the game, he is also one of the riskiest defenders to pick, not only because his traps can be hacked and potentially kill or injure a teammate, but mainly because if the attackers properly clear them out they have spent 5 bullets and completely rendered one defenders utility useless. At least castle barricades or Mira windows for example require SOME utility to clear. I think the only problem with Kapkan is the fact that on certain spots you can hide his traps in doorframes, trashbags and other parts of the map, and that is a problem that needs to be fixed. Oh boo hoo... I can't take a moment to check door ways even though I'm playing a "tactical" shooter. Also most Kapkan placements are highly predictable. Did the playerbase forget this is not COD, but if they must get their R6 fix there's a playlist called arcade where operator gadgets (like Kapkan) don't exist, it's just impacts, stuns, smokes, and nades and just purely just gun on gun encounters. The game is ment to be taken slow like chess and not a run-n-gun/rush every round. The majority of Ash type players (not all) have issues with him simply because they want to just rush without needing to be cautious. When he's not banned oh boy, these Ash crutching people get mad because they got exploded since they weren't cautious. If we still had a Intel/utility meta (or at least a hybrid of the 2), then the Kapkan hate won't be as high but since people are still treating rounds like COD, Kapkan or anyone who makes it harder to rush (like Melusi, Lesion, Fenrir, etc.) get targeted for their hate.
A lazy Kapkan Player always gets his traps destroyed but a good Kapkan player has to position his traps while being aware of the drones and also to position himself according to that and to the attacker’s push. So, a Kapkan player has to do what Rainbow Six Siege requires eventually. As being a renowned UA-camr place you in a position that you can state your comforts and discomforts amongst the masses and majority of them will follow you. We have seen you ENJOYING Shields enough that it has created a Chaotic Impact in the game and hatred against the shields. Showcasing Kapkan’s gameplay in this video and talking some good points while majorly dissing him is a good manipulative strategy yet immoral cuz you and your team seems to enjoy playing Kapkan in hopes of winning the round and eventually the match in your favor. Having numerous and acceptable counters like Brava, Twitch, IQ, Frag Grenades, Destructive Gadgets, Droning with 2 drones and using other 8, using Comms & Eyes, a Kapkan’s Icon on top right of your screen when he’s scanned/spotted, having too much door/window frames but limited spots for his traps, A WEAPON with Bullets in Attacker’s hands. All this is Tactical enough and this what one of the core pillars of Rainbow Six Siege is. Kapkan is just for all ages of gamers whether the player is new so they can get some map knowledge, placements and positions, or whether the experienced player wanting to achieve the tactical aspect of this game. Kapkan somehow counters the TDM meta where 3 speeds like Ash or annoying Shields rush and eliminate within 30 seconds into the game and not allowing some fun or strategy to be made. This is Kapkan “The Fairly Balanced Operator in Game”. You don’t like Kapkan, be aware or ban him or talk to your Friends at Ubisoft who might not be listening to you otherwise Kapkan would’ve been nerfed recently, or they might be working to nerf him in future thanks to You, but do not slip something derogatory in people’s unconscious mind with this Title and Thumbnail. Kapkan is only succeeding because the current meta is hyper-aggro rushing. I'm a little concerned seeing videos like this because of the way Ubisoft has been with balancing. He's likely to be nerfed into the ground even though the current reason that he's doing so well isn't even because he's strong, it's because he counters the current (unfun) meta.
I would buff kapkan personally and give him like 30 traps and another c4 This could be beneficial because it punishes idiots for not droning (My aim recoil control and crosshair placement sucks and I use him as a crutch to get kills)

I've been playing since year one on PS and Xbox and honestly I think kapkan is in a good spot right now. The "problem" with kapkan is that it interferes with the swing or be swung meta. People just wanna be lazy and not check doors... Like how many doors do you have to go through to attack kids and dorms on oragan. Players now just wanna run and gun and kapkan punishes not looking. people will say cav is op because they don't wanna check corners...😂

The skill ceiling with kapkan is knowing where to place the traps especially which side of the entryway based on where attackers are likely to come from. It's a deceptively high skill ceiling cause it's different for every map/site and especially if you factor in surprise traps that are not anywhere near the site. He's perfectly fine as is.
As a Kapkan main, I don’t think it’s problematic. It’s the easiest op to counter. Droning is all it takes. I punish players who don’t drone and/or don’t communicate what they drone or see to their teammates
what you said on Kapkan was actually not true. Kapkan initially was an instant kill up until Operation Blood Orchid where they lowered the damage his traps did. the laser for the tripwire was also visible though up until the same time.
You just have to look at doors and dronw, thats it, I rarely die to a kapkan trap. Edit: Not being a smartass btw, just genuinelly almost never die by a kapkan. I usually follow kapkan with my drone on prep phase and ping most of the kapkan, thats it.
Kapkan does take skill, you gotta smart with the placement and strategic with the timing, if you dump them in prep you’re asking them to be spotted but if your roam and place them in low action high traffic it’s cheeky.

Fine as is, but if i were to change anything about him, it would just be the damage on traps. I love his flexibility on placement now, and 5 traps feels like a good amount. I would rather lower the damage to maybe even 25 per trap so it feels like chip damage to help you with gun fights. Maybe slightly more damage (30-40) if you're right on top of it, aka didn't even walk through the door.
I think about it this way. If the Kapkans are placed properly, the attacker has to swing out of cover to shoot the traps, if you add a defender wasting time… either you kill them, they kill you, or die to the traps. It’s not like you didn’t know they were there, it’s just you forgot about it because you were bogged down in frustrating scenario and lacked the line of sight to immediately deal with the trap. Now you’ve wasted another 45s, maybe took damage, and lost your drone.
wich is suposed to be the gameplay of r6 , if its too hard to pass trough here go around ok make a strat with your team to find a way you shouldn't be able to pass alone if the defense put a lot of their ressources into this doorway
@Tiki100 not entirely true. One smoke player with a shotgun can slow things down something fierce. The problem with Kapkan is how optimized we’re playing the game on top of map design.
I haven't played siege in like four years, its genuinely insane to see huge discussions about KAPKAN of all operators. when I was playing, people barely even acknowledged his existence
I think Kapkans gadget is fine due to the amount of counters. Like literally every operator can counter a kapkan. I do think he could get his nitro cell taken away. In my opinion, he shouldn’t have 5 traps and a nitro cell. I could also be cool with dropping it to 4 Kapkan traps.
I think a better nerf for Kapkan would be to decrease the EDD damage to 45-49 so that to fully kill an enemy you'd need 3 on a door. That would kinda bring the traps back down to dealing damage not killing and would make it so that Kapkan can only have 1 door that would insta kill per game but doing so is more risky as it wastes over half of his traps if it gets droned and shot. To go an extra step further there could be the same effect as Frost's mats so Kapkan can hunt people caught by his traps to more emphasise the damage element over outright kills. I like having multiple traps per door but also hate the insta kill. Love these vids, keep up the good work Kudos :)
Kapkan (and trap operators overall) got this glow up mainly because of the meta for attackers. Playing fast and aggressive is generally the most effective way to win on attack which means less time is spent droning and checking for traps and utility. It's not that trap counters like Twitch or Brava aren't effective at countering Kapkan, they just don't have the luxury of doing it properly. The amount of times I've hopped on drone to clear traps only to have to stop 5 seconds later because two of my teammates died and suddenly we're in a 3v5. It's also worth pointing out that stacking Kapkan traps is a risk vs reward aspect. You can bank on getting a free kill with stacked Kapkans but it also means less doorways you can trap and you cross your fingers that the attackers go where you put the traps in the first place and not notice them. But that's part of the risk you take when you decide to stack them and you should be rewarded for that risk imo.
Kapkan's counter is literally looking at a door or window frame, drones, Brava, IQ, thatcher and emp nades, kapkan literally depends on people just being lazy and not droning
The definition of “watch where you’re going” it’s crazy to me how people are so tactical and careful when it comes to other abilities in the game but for kapkans traps people are lazy. I’m not a very good player, but I look for kapkans every time I see him on the other team. And I still die to them every so often when I’m not paying attention. Look where you’re going.
Kapkan enjoyer here! Yeah. I literally use him solely for Ash players. And yes, it is usually the ash/rush player consistently running into them, or others from a severe lack of droning. I stand by it as an attacker too - play slow, make sure you know your enemy operators and STOP JUST SITTING THE DRONE IN SPAWN PLEASE INTEL IS IMPORTANT Only thing I would change at all with Kapkan isn’t even him, I’d just improve the current trap characters and add more. I think the main reason we see him more is that Thorn just…is thorn, and Frost’s lethality is kind of middling now with the “recent” reworks (not that it was a bad rework)
Kapkan is countered by everything, the only issue is how people push without droning, or at least fully clearing angles, and while you should keep your vision up, you can look at a door way without compromising your life 9/10 times.
Kapkan's best counter has been in the game since day 1, same as his release. Everyone's just too busy using IQ's guns to remember that she's Kapkan's natural hard-counter.
As someone who mains Frost, Kapkan and Thorn even before the 1.5 (treat her like Ela and youll be fine) there is a simple fact you ignore while also somehow bringing it up. Ash and to an extent Amaru. The moment a Single Kapkan goes off on them, they change their approach. Take Villa for example. If you are defending Bar and Games, you need to cover the backside to account for an Amaru/Ash rush. You now waste all your util on the backside, have 0 up front. Being able to stack, you leave them vulnerable while being able to be more meticulous with the placements. The only way I'd argue to have Kapkan being able to do 1 on a door, is a 25% increase in damage + Doubling from 5 to 10 EDDs and that is WAY to much power. Kapkan if played right Punishes the TDM Rush meta People still think seige is. Nerfing Trap ops will promote braindead rushes and bring back the TDM Meta. Plus only Frost and Leision have this "trap" mentality. Melussi, Thorn, Ela. They are trap ops and yet their gadgets do not have that same debuff effect that Frost and Lession have. Its literally a slow down visual/audio effect, just massive AoE damage if hit that you can survive if you are on the outskirts and a concussion effect literally akin to a Flaash grenade. If anything Frost and Lession are exemptions to the general rule Because they were quite powerful comparatively

He originally only had 3 traps, but they all killed the enemy instantly, one by one. It was changed to have 5 traps, but only 60HP per trap, and then they allowed multiple traps per door. So in the beginning it could kill 3 unharmed opponents, and it was reduced to two and a half.
kapkan is the example of what i like to call a stress snowball operator his gadget profits the most from the enemy team trying to rush site making the game more stressful for both atk and def. this doesn't matter if it's a rush into site at 10 seconds into the match or the last 10 seconds of the match. his best counter is by putting your self in low stress situations either by droning or another intel op like IQ.
I also don't know why they buffed Kapkan that way.. many high level players didn't think Kapkan was weak when his first rework happened.. someone pointed out that Kapkan is now working like Lesion where the traps act more like an information gadget over a trap gadget.. if someone shoots it or explodes it, you know someone is in that area.. so even if it is not fatal it is still really effective.. but then they gave that multiple traps on doors and now he's back to where he used to be back in the good old days.. which is exactly why he was reworked and nerfed in the first place.. that one hit trap was very frustrating to deal with so he got nerfed and now he can't one hit with one trap.. but then they added the multiple trap on one door and he's back to his old glory days..
i think kapkan is a great operator and there need to be a punishment besides death, but i think we keep the staking on the door frames but instead of 2 killing someone right away they should do. (1 kapkans: 50% health to a 1 health, 25% to a 2 health, and 15% to a 3 health ) (2 kapkans: downs a 1 health, 50% to a 2 health, and 25% to a 3 health ) (3 kapkans: kills a 1 health, downs% a 2 health, and 50% to a 3 health) (4 kapkans: kills a 1 health, kills a 2 health, and downs a 3 health) (5 kapkans: kills all op right away) i think this is the best way they could keep kapkan sill good but also have the high-risk high-reward, while still keeping the staking doors fetcher and as you said like with frost and lesion if you hit it you don't die right away but there's a punishment but in this case you need a lot more kapkans on a door do get a insta kill. thank you for taking the time to read this
Kapkan is balanced. Stacking traps doesn’t always get you kills with 3 armors operators. Plus his traps used to one shot before they were nerfed. And let’s say you stack traps, to get a chance at a kill you will have to put two or three traps on two doors. Reducing the doors from 5 to 2. Stacking traps also increases their visibility. I’m a solid copper and only died to Kapkan once in like a six month span.
Kapkan is kinda "Problematic" in a way, he is the only Operator that is allowed to be Lethal with his Traps while also having a Great Gun and a Nitro While other Trap OP's like Frost get the shit nerfed out of her Mat's which are arguably just as easy to counter. And no, i don't think Kapkan needs to get hit with the same Treatment. But the fact Frost got hit with a Rework that just down right nerfed her, makes it quite obvious to see why Kapkan is as High on the List as he is right now.
If you're playing kapkan by just throwing his traps down and hoping no one notices, you're missing out on so much potential. He works far better when you play around his traps to force attackers to either create a sound queue, or you're making them too busy fighting you to pay attention to the EDD's If it were up to me, I'd rework thorn's gadget to go off far quicker and do minor damage, but apply the frost debuff for maybe ten seconds. I wouldn't mind if they took away kapkan's multiple EDDs and did something similar for him I'd also quite like them to change brava so her hacking time depends on the gadget. The longest for evil eyes and laser gates and the shortest for EDD's and razerblooms
the issue with kapkan is he makes the game annoying and less fun. having to check doorways is terrible, anyone that says otherwise is coping. you shouldn’t instantly die because you didn’t check both sides of a doorway.
I also think he is played a lot more and higher win% due to shields. On console I think shields are more terrifying to play against and more overwhelming, so Kapkan is an easy way to slow them down and buy space and time as a defender.
Oh for gods sake Kapkan has been my main and favorite defender ever since I started playing, Instead of getting rid of good operators and/or taking their scopes&impacts they should stop adding new crappy ones that are either downgrades like thorn or annoying nuisances like brava or fenrir. Side note I almost never die to kapkans, I even check my own traps if theres a brava on the enemy team. I hate how this game slowly turned into an average shooter instead of a gadget-centered tactical shooter.
If I were to nerf Kapkan, I’d take away one of his traps so he has a max count of 4, and his traps should emit a louder sound queue so you don’t have to focus on listening for the sound it emits as much. I don’t mind doing it, but I do think that for a gadget that can do nearly half or over half your health bar, it should make a louder noise to detect.
I don’t feel like Kapkan needs a nerf, because on console he gets banned literally every time, UA-camrs should just leave games alone, things get nerfed for their sake and it just ruins games most times
The most problematic operator is Vigil. Simply because he's picked for his two cheesy guns even tho he has a AR on defense. Make him actually invisible to drones for a peeiod and remove his smg-12
I disagree, Kapkam is designed to counter an specific strategy that is rush into the building, I can concede you that stack traps is maybe too much, removing that will be enough to avoid most of the kills, after an explosion in the doors every player will double check before get in, if you fall into another trap again is your fault. So, to me the operator is completely fine, I don't think he needs a nerf more that that and also I would like to have an UI like Fenrir where you can see the location of your traps. Good video.
My main defender is Kapkan, because I like explosives. Even if I die, the devices will still be there, and my team has won many a battle where an enemy blindly charges into a room, forgetting the little toy I installed there.
yeah, trappers are part of the game, deal with it. with kapkan, the trade-off is that you can either put a single trap on many doors, or multiple traps on less doors. if you can't be arsed to check the doorways before you step through, that's not kapkan's fault :)
Personally i don't really find kapkan to ever be much of an issue. People in todays meta will act before they think and kapkan is a Direct counter to this way of thinking. I don't play kapkan a lot because i find my self needing other operators more often than not. But kapkan kills are just "lazy Kills" so i purpose that rather than having to remove the stacking ability, either cap how many can stack (2 per Door frame at most) or we just force them to be placed higher on the door frame(Waist or eye level.)

If you die to Kapkan, its your own fault 80% of the time. Also him being to "easy" isn't a bad thing. I think every OP does not needs to have a gadget you need to have a skill gap to make them good/useful. Not every op needs to be balanced. some should be slightly better or slightly worse. I do think he should lose the nitro or give his gun some recoil. I think he should go back to being limited to one per door way. Also this is off topic, but I full heartedly believe that DMRs and slug shotguns on def should not have acog.
If you scout a Kapkan beforehand and die to a trap, that's on you 90% of the time. I never die to a Kapkan trap and think he's OP, I just think I'm an idiot.
I'm always checking for his gadgets. As Zero I always make sure to destroy them in the bomb site. He's only problematic for lazy players. I played as him and could hardly hit an operator. People is very careful when facing him.
As a kapkan main. He needs the revolver shotgun or impacts again so you can better set up traps. Plus every defender should have means of making wall holes imo. His shotgun is too dogshit to use effectively over his smg. That is my ONLY issue with him. Other than that he is a perfect operator
I get the reasoning, but honestly i simply just don't agree. I genuinely don't remember the last time I hit a kapkan trap in anything other than vs ai (I just mess around in vs ai) and its incredibly easy to avoid them, just... look at the door first. If you are able to snap onto operators entering on a different door, you are able to snap to them while making sure there aren't kapkans. It's not like it takes 10 seconds to check, for me atleast it only takes 3 seconds. Though of course this is just personal experience and I can't expect everyone to have the skill to flick to an incoming operator.

I think Kapcan is pretty balanced. He is no way OP. When he works and you have placed well he is really annoying, thats why people ban him. If you look for example Ash win delta, its really annoying when you put two Kapcan traps and Ash tries to run blindly blasting herself on some door frame. has happened to me few times as Kapcan player. But other side of coin is that maps are pretty large. There are games where no kapcan traps are triggered. Attackers either spot them or they another routes where you dont have them. Then you're pretty useless as a Kapcan player. Another reason why people get annoyed is that those traps are more effective due time. Normally it takes about two kapcan traps to bring opponent down or kill. But when game progresses people get hit and their health goes down. So if you got one those traps on door frame, and players rush on last second to implant, you get kills on that time because health can be lower at the end. But again either is no way sure. Like I said above, they may spot them, avoid them or effects like Fuze bombs or friend C4 can just erase them. Also I'd agree that I may need some skill to se those traps. You can put them different heights and people do which I dont get because obviously best is on the floor level. Some maps are also better for Kapcan traps than others. Because traps work better when you have more limited roues and angles people dont see traps: they must come from angle that is opposite where trap is put.
I find him to be one of the most annoying for sure, but idk if id say he's problematic. Personally I play a little slower, so I feel like I usually end up spotting his traps more often than not. The only time he has an impact on me is if I'm really not paying attention, and/or rushing in those final seconds of the match. I wouldnt be upset if they made it 1 trap per door again, but I dont feel like this is something that NEEEDS to be done. I think hes in a decent spot. Hes fun to play as, and hes not the most frustrating OP in the world to play against imo. The one that frustrates me the most is Clash, but thats a whole other bucket of worms thatll probably never get looked at again.
Kapkan is pretty well balanced. it's just that people don't want to check the doorways and Rush in which causes them to die. and even talking with other players they just refuse to check the doorways. overall I think it's just that people are misplacing their frustration into him instead of themselves because they don't check doorways. and he is easily countered by just shooting his utility.
Kapkan isnt annoying at all its just majority of the playerbase either suck or always in the mood for rushing and getting blown up, if you get agenst a team that just always keep doing rush straight you put some sense into them by putting kapkans telling them to value of droning

A chunk of the community treats this game like CoD with lean mechanics so I'm not surprised they dislike any aspect that slows down the TDM pace.
I think kapkan is a great operator. Too many people want to lazily rush into the map and kapkan is perfectly designed to counter those people while also being the easiest operator to counter in the entire game. Yes, good players do still die to kapkans, but any good player who dies to kapkan will likely be more frustrated at themselves than with the operator/game

And when you put two kapcan charges on them it can give nice reward! Thats propably reason for the Console high ban rate. PC side people are more experienced I think and change their tactics more.

I think Kapkan is good for the health of the game because he keeps a lot of operators in check, you can easily see this if you look at the pick rates for ash, the only reason kapkans win rate is high is because so many people pick rushing ops like ash, I think kapkan helps discourage one of the most controversial playstyles- rushing. If kapkan was nerfed then ash pick rates would shoot through the roof.
Kapkan is not problematic the people who die to them are since if you dont have 3 seconds to look down your clearly not paying that much attention to the game it punishes the Ash's and Amaru's who just sprint into site its a good operator and he does his job well

When I die due to a Kapkan trap I always say: "OMG, what an amateur am I..".
His trap are just easy to counter, pick Twitch or Brava, or simply just drone out their traps. Yes, there are many door frames on a map, but you only have to drone the necessary ones, where you go through. Only exceptions are the site doors but only a few of them hard to shoot and not many Kapkan players put traps to site doors.
The reasons why he's banned 50% of the matches are the brain dead tdm meta players who can't drone out a door or pay attention to their feet, only just out aim their opps.

If you are emerald or higher and die to Kapkan ,it's because of laziness. Use your drone. You don't need to drone every door way in the entire map. Just the door ways you are going to be pushing from. 5 drones are more than enough to make kapkan traps obsolete.
I literally see no problem with Kapkan. Just having an IQ completely ruins any traps Kapkan may have set up. Similar to Frost, if the attackers see Kapkan in the defense line up, they'll start checking common doorways more often. And this applies to pretty much every trap operator, really. Kapkan is the text book definition of a trap operator; he slows the enemy down one way or another, has a good gun that isn't too crazy, and relies on the player taking the information the traps give and play around said information. Like any operators, difference between noob Kapkan and good Kapkan is also very clear. Noob Kapkan will mistakenly put traps in areas where either no one really goes or in areas that are easy to spot while pro Kapkans do a much better job at hiding their traps while keeping them in a high traffic areas to slow down rushes. Someone like Girtania has shown some 300 IQ Kapkan traps in his videos. There definitely is a skill gap and a learning curve to the operator, it's not just an operator who will get you free kills if you're lucky

With all due respect kudos, i`ve been a fan of yours for a while now, but i think you completely missed on that one.
First of all siege players consantly complain about the TDM Meta and wish to go back to a 2021 esque Utility Meta, yet somehow when a utility based defender is picked they aren`t happy.
Besides having some of the most counters in the game, he is also one of the riskiest defenders to pick, not only because his traps can be hacked and potentially kill or injure a teammate, but mainly because if the attackers properly clear them out they have spent 5 bullets and completely rendered one defenders utility useless. At least castle barricades or Mira windows for example require SOME utility to clear.
I think the only problem with Kapkan is the fact that on certain spots you can hide his traps in doorframes, trashbags and other parts of the map, and that is a problem that needs to be fixed.

Oh boo hoo... I can't take a moment to check door ways even though I'm playing a "tactical" shooter. Also most Kapkan placements are highly predictable. Did the playerbase forget this is not COD, but if they must get their R6 fix there's a playlist called arcade where operator gadgets (like Kapkan) don't exist, it's just impacts, stuns, smokes, and nades and just purely just gun on gun encounters. The game is ment to be taken slow like chess and not a run-n-gun/rush every round. The majority of Ash type players (not all) have issues with him simply because they want to just rush without needing to be cautious. When he's not banned oh boy, these Ash crutching people get mad because they got exploded since they weren't cautious. If we still had a Intel/utility meta (or at least a hybrid of the 2), then the Kapkan hate won't be as high but since people are still treating rounds like COD, Kapkan or anyone who makes it harder to rush (like Melusi, Lesion, Fenrir, etc.) get targeted for their hate.

As being a renowned UA-camr place you in a position that you can state your comforts and discomforts amongst the masses and majority of them will follow you. We have seen you ENJOYING Shields enough that it has created a Chaotic Impact in the game and hatred against the shields.
Showcasing Kapkan’s gameplay in this video and talking some good points while majorly dissing him is a good manipulative strategy yet immoral cuz you and your team seems to enjoy playing Kapkan in hopes of winning the round and eventually the match in your favor.
Having numerous and acceptable counters like Brava, Twitch, IQ, Frag Grenades, Destructive Gadgets, Droning with 2 drones and using other 8, using Comms & Eyes, a Kapkan’s Icon on top right of your screen when he’s scanned/spotted, having too much door/window frames but limited spots for his traps, A WEAPON with Bullets in Attacker’s hands. All this is Tactical enough and this what one of the core pillars of Rainbow Six Siege is. Kapkan is just for all ages of gamers whether the player is new so they can get some map knowledge, placements and positions, or whether the experienced player wanting to achieve the tactical aspect of this game. Kapkan somehow counters the TDM meta where 3 speeds like Ash or annoying Shields rush and eliminate within 30 seconds into the game and not allowing some fun or strategy to be made. This is Kapkan “The Fairly Balanced Operator in Game”.
You don’t like Kapkan, be aware or ban him or talk to your Friends at Ubisoft who might not be listening to you otherwise Kapkan would’ve been nerfed recently, or they might be working to nerf him in future thanks to You, but do not slip something derogatory in people’s unconscious mind with this Title and Thumbnail. Kapkan is only succeeding because the current meta is hyper-aggro rushing. I'm a little concerned seeing videos like this because of the way Ubisoft has been with balancing. He's likely to be nerfed into the ground even though the current reason that he's doing so well isn't even because he's strong, it's because he counters the current (unfun) meta.

I've been playing since year one on PS and Xbox and honestly I think kapkan is in a good spot right now. The "problem" with kapkan is that it interferes with the swing or be swung meta. People just wanna be lazy and not check doors... Like how many doors do you have to go through to attack kids and dorms on oragan. The skill ceiling with kapkan is knowing where to place the traps especially which side of the entryway based on where attackers are likely to come from. It's a deceptively high skill ceiling cause it's different for every map/site and especially if you factor in surprise traps that are not anywhere near the site. He's perfectly fine as is.
As a Kapkan main, I don’t think it’s problematic. It’s the easiest op to counter. Droning is all it takes. I punish players who don’t drone and/or don’t communicate what they drone or see to their teammates

what you said on Kapkan was actually not true. Kapkan initially was an instant kill up until Operation Blood Orchid where they lowered the damage his traps did. the laser for the tripwire was also visible though up until the same time.

Fine as is, but if i were to change anything about him, it would just be the damage on traps. I love his flexibility on placement now, and 5 traps feels like a good amount. I would rather lower the damage to maybe even 25 per trap so it feels like chip damage to help you with gun fights. Maybe slightly more damage (30-40) if you're right on top of it, aka didn't even walk through the door.

I think about it this way. If the Kapkans are placed properly, the attacker has to swing out of cover to shoot the traps, if you add a defender wasting time… either you kill them, they kill you, or die to the traps.
It’s not like you didn’t know they were there, it’s just you forgot about it because you were bogged down in frustrating scenario and lacked the line of sight to immediately deal with the trap. Now you’ve wasted another 45s, maybe took damage, and lost your drone.
wich is suposed to be the gameplay of r6 , if its too hard to pass trough here go around ok make a strat with your team to find a way you shouldn't be able to pass alone if the defense put a lot of their ressources into this doorway

I think a better nerf for Kapkan would be to decrease the EDD damage to 45-49 so that to fully kill an enemy you'd need 3 on a door. That would kinda bring the traps back down to dealing damage not killing and would make it so that Kapkan can only have 1 door that would insta kill per game but doing so is more risky as it wastes over half of his traps if it gets droned and shot. To go an extra step further there could be the same effect as Frost's mats so Kapkan can hunt people caught by his traps to more emphasise the damage element over outright kills. I like having multiple traps per door but also hate the insta kill.

Kapkan (and trap operators overall) got this glow up mainly because of the meta for attackers. Playing fast and aggressive is generally the most effective way to win on attack which means less time is spent droning and checking for traps and utility.
It's not that trap counters like Twitch or Brava aren't effective at countering Kapkan, they just don't have the luxury of doing it properly. The amount of times I've hopped on drone to clear traps only to have to stop 5 seconds later because two of my teammates died and suddenly we're in a 3v5.
It's also worth pointing out that stacking Kapkan traps is a risk vs reward aspect. You can bank on getting a free kill with stacked Kapkans but it also means less doorways you can trap and you cross your fingers that the attackers go where you put the traps in the first place and not notice them. But that's part of the risk you take when you decide to stack them and you should be rewarded for that risk imo.
Kapkan's counter is literally looking at a door or window frame, drones, Brava, IQ, thatcher and emp nades, kapkan literally depends on people just being lazy and not droning
The one thing I hate is when I go Kapkan, I 90% of the time will have a castle follow me around and put castles on every doorway I put kapkans on.
The definition of “watch where you’re going” it’s crazy to me how people are so tactical and careful when it comes to other abilities in the game but for kapkans traps people are lazy. I’m not a very good player, but I look for kapkans every time I see him on the other team. And I still die to them every so often when I’m not paying attention. Look where you’re going.
Kapkan enjoyer here! Yeah. I literally use him solely for Ash players. And yes, it is usually the ash/rush player consistently running into them, or others from a severe lack of droning.
I stand by it as an attacker too - play slow, make sure you know your enemy operators and STOP JUST SITTING THE DRONE IN SPAWN PLEASE INTEL IS IMPORTANT
Only thing I would change at all with Kapkan isn’t even him, I’d just improve the current trap characters and add more. I think the main reason we see him more is that Thorn just…is thorn, and Frost’s lethality is kind of middling now with the “recent” reworks (not that it was a bad rework)
Kapkan is countered by everything, the only issue is how people push without droning, or at least fully clearing angles, and while you should keep your vision up, you can look at a door way without compromising your life 9/10 times.
Kapkan's best counter has been in the game since day 1, same as his release.

As someone who mains Frost, Kapkan and Thorn even before the 1.5 (treat her like Ela and youll be fine) there is a simple fact you ignore while also somehow bringing it up. Ash and to an extent Amaru. The moment a Single Kapkan goes off on them, they change their approach. Take Villa for example. If you are defending Bar and Games, you need to cover the backside to account for an Amaru/Ash rush. You now waste all your util on the backside, have 0 up front. Being able to stack, you leave them vulnerable while being able to be more meticulous with the placements. The only way I'd argue to have Kapkan being able to do 1 on a door, is a 25% increase in damage + Doubling from 5 to 10 EDDs and that is WAY to much power.
Kapkan if played right Punishes the TDM Rush meta People still think seige is. Nerfing Trap ops will promote braindead rushes and bring back the TDM Meta. Plus only Frost and Leision have this "trap" mentality. Melussi, Thorn, Ela. They are trap ops and yet their gadgets do not have that same debuff effect that Frost and Lession have. Its literally a slow down visual/audio effect, just massive AoE damage if hit that you can survive if you are on the outskirts and a concussion effect literally akin to a Flaash grenade. If anything Frost and Lession are exemptions to the general rule Because they were quite powerful comparatively
He originally only had 3 traps, but they all killed the enemy instantly, one by one. It was changed to have 5 traps, but only 60HP per trap, and then they allowed multiple traps per door. So in the beginning it could kill 3 unharmed opponents, and it was reduced to two and a half.
The only time I get pissed is when I don't realize Brava took all the traps and I end up seeing a Kapkan nuke the other defenders
kapkan is the example of what i like to call a stress snowball operator his gadget profits the most from the enemy team trying to rush site making the game more stressful for both atk and def. this doesn't matter if it's a rush into site at 10 seconds into the match or the last 10 seconds of the match. his best counter is by putting your self in low stress situations either by droning or another intel op like IQ.
I also don't know why they buffed Kapkan that way.. many high level players didn't think Kapkan was weak when his first rework happened.. someone pointed out that Kapkan is now working like Lesion where the traps act more like an information gadget over a trap gadget.. if someone shoots it or explodes it, you know someone is in that area.. so even if it is not fatal it is still really effective.. but then they gave that multiple traps on doors and now he's back to where he used to be back in the good old days.. which is exactly why he was reworked and nerfed in the first place.. that one hit trap was very frustrating to deal with so he got nerfed and now he can't one hit with one trap.. but then they added the multiple trap on one door and he's back to his old glory days..
i think kapkan is a great operator and there need to be a punishment besides death, but i think we keep the staking on the door frames but instead of 2 killing someone right away they should do.
(1 kapkans: 50% health to a 1 health, 25% to a 2 health, and 15% to a 3 health )
(2 kapkans: downs a 1 health, 50% to a 2 health, and 25% to a 3 health )
(3 kapkans: kills a 1 health, downs% a 2 health, and 50% to a 3 health)
(4 kapkans: kills a 1 health, kills a 2 health, and downs a 3 health)
(5 kapkans: kills all op right away)
i think this is the best way they could keep kapkan sill good but also have the high-risk high-reward, while still keeping the staking doors fetcher and as you said like with frost and lesion if you hit it you don't die right away but there's a punishment but in this case you need a lot more kapkans on a door do get a insta kill. thank you for taking the time to read this
Kapkan is balanced. Stacking traps doesn’t always get you kills with 3 armors operators. Plus his traps used to one shot before they were nerfed. And let’s say you stack traps, to get a chance at a kill you will have to put two or three traps on two doors. Reducing the doors from 5 to 2. Stacking traps also increases their visibility. I’m a solid copper and only died to Kapkan once in like a six month span.
Kapkan is kinda "Problematic" in a way, he is the only Operator that is allowed to be Lethal with his Traps while also having a Great Gun and a Nitro
While other Trap OP's like Frost get the shit nerfed out of her Mat's which are arguably just as easy to counter.
And no, i don't think Kapkan needs to get hit with the same Treatment. But the fact Frost got hit with a Rework that just down right nerfed her, makes it quite obvious to see why Kapkan is as High on the List as he is right now.
If you're playing kapkan by just throwing his traps down and hoping no one notices, you're missing out on so much potential. He works far better when you play around his traps to force attackers to either create a sound queue, or you're making them too busy fighting you to pay attention to the EDD's
If it were up to me, I'd rework thorn's gadget to go off far quicker and do minor damage, but apply the frost debuff for maybe ten seconds. I wouldn't mind if they took away kapkan's multiple EDDs and did something similar for him
I'd also quite like them to change brava so her hacking time depends on the gadget. The longest for evil eyes and laser gates and the shortest for EDD's and razerblooms
the issue with kapkan is he makes the game annoying and less fun. having to check doorways is terrible, anyone that says otherwise is coping. you shouldn’t instantly die because you didn’t check both sides of a doorway.
I also think he is played a lot more and higher win% due to shields. On console I think shields are more terrifying to play against and more overwhelming, so Kapkan is an easy way to slow them down and buy space and time as a defender.
Oh for gods sake Kapkan has been my main and favorite defender ever since I started playing, Instead of getting rid of good operators and/or taking their scopes&impacts they should stop adding new crappy ones that are either downgrades like thorn or annoying nuisances like brava or fenrir.
Side note I almost never die to kapkans, I even check my own traps if theres a brava on the enemy team. I hate how this game slowly turned into an average shooter instead of a gadget-centered tactical shooter.

If I were to nerf Kapkan, I’d take away one of his traps so he has a max count of 4, and his traps should emit a louder sound queue so you don’t have to focus on listening for the sound it emits as much. I don’t mind doing it, but I do think that for a gadget that can do nearly half or over half your health bar, it should make a louder noise to detect.
I don’t feel like Kapkan needs a nerf, because on console he gets banned literally every time, UA-camrs should just leave games alone, things get nerfed for their sake and it just ruins games most times
The most problematic operator is Vigil. Simply because he's picked for his two cheesy guns even tho he has a AR on defense. Make him actually invisible to drones for a peeiod and remove his smg-12
I disagree, Kapkam is designed to counter an specific strategy that is rush into the building, I can concede you that stack traps is maybe too much, removing that will be enough to avoid most of the kills, after an explosion in the doors every player will double check before get in, if you fall into another trap again is your fault. So, to me the operator is completely fine, I don't think he needs a nerf more that that and also I would like to have an UI like Fenrir where you can see the location of your traps. Good video.
My main defender is Kapkan, because I like explosives. Even if I die, the devices will still be there, and my team has won many a battle where an enemy blindly charges into a room, forgetting the little toy I installed there.
yeah, trappers are part of the game, deal with it. with kapkan, the trade-off is that you can either put a single trap on many doors, or multiple traps on less doors. if you can't be arsed to check the doorways before you step through, that's not kapkan's fault :)
Personally i don't really find kapkan to ever be much of an issue. People in todays meta will act before they think and kapkan is a Direct counter to this way of thinking. I don't play kapkan a lot because i find my self needing other operators more often than not. But kapkan kills are just "lazy Kills" so i purpose that rather than having to remove the stacking ability, either cap how many can stack (2 per Door frame at most) or we just force them to be placed higher on the door frame(Waist or eye level.)
Also I'm surprised that console players ban him. I mean, PC players play in a hurry and that would make Kapkan a hard opponent to face, because of his gadgets.
If you die to Kapkan, its your own fault 80% of the time. Also him being to "easy" isn't a bad thing. I think every OP does not needs to have a gadget you need to have a skill gap to make them good/useful. Not every op needs to be balanced. some should be slightly better or slightly worse. I do think he should lose the nitro or give his gun some recoil. I think he should go back to being limited to one per door way. Also this is off topic, but I full heartedly believe that DMRs and slug shotguns on def should not have acog.
If you scout a Kapkan beforehand and die to a trap, that's on you 90% of the time. I never die to a Kapkan trap and think he's OP, I just think I'm an idiot.
I'm always checking for his gadgets. As Zero I always make sure to destroy them in the bomb site. He's only problematic for lazy players. I played as him and could hardly hit an operator. People is very careful when facing him.

As a kapkan main. He needs the revolver shotgun or impacts again so you can better set up traps. Plus every defender should have means of making wall holes imo. His shotgun is too dogshit to use effectively over his smg. That is my ONLY issue with him. Other than that he is a perfect operator

I get the reasoning, but honestly i simply just don't agree. I genuinely don't remember the last time I hit a kapkan trap in anything other than vs ai (I just mess around in vs ai) and its incredibly easy to avoid them, just... look at the door first. If you are able to snap onto operators entering on a different door, you are able to snap to them while making sure there aren't kapkans. It's not like it takes 10 seconds to check, for me atleast it only takes 3 seconds. Though of course this is just personal experience and I can't expect everyone to have the skill to flick to an incoming operator.

I mean he is fine, like if U already scan kapkan or his gedget, everyone will just look at the door frame and basically make him useless (unless they are real blind) as a operated that slow down the match and counter phone phrase and bad drone work he had did a pretty good job

I think Kapcan is pretty balanced. He is no way OP. When he works and you have placed well he is really annoying, thats why people ban him. If you look for example Ash win delta, its really annoying when you put two Kapcan traps and Ash tries to run blindly blasting herself on some door frame. has happened to me few times as Kapcan player. But other side of coin is that maps are pretty large. There are games where no kapcan traps are triggered. Attackers either spot them or they another routes where you dont have them. Then you're pretty useless as a Kapcan player.
Another reason why people get annoyed is that those traps are more effective due time. Normally it takes about two kapcan traps to bring opponent down or kill. But when game progresses people get hit and their health goes down. So if you got one those traps on door frame, and players rush on last second to implant, you get kills on that time because health can be lower at the end.
But again either is no way sure. Like I said above, they may spot them, avoid them or effects like Fuze bombs or friend C4 can just erase them. Also I'd agree that I may need some skill to se those traps. You can put them different heights and people do which I dont get because obviously best is on the floor level. Some maps are also better for Kapcan traps than others. Because traps work better when you have more limited roues and angles people dont see traps: they must come from angle that is opposite where trap is put.
Kapkan is meant to slow down the rushers.. you rush you get punished. If they nerf kapkan they will nerf fuze
I find him to be one of the most annoying for sure, but idk if id say he's problematic. Personally I play a little slower, so I feel like I usually end up spotting his traps more often than not. The only time he has an impact on me is if I'm really not paying attention, and/or rushing in those final seconds of the match. I wouldnt be upset if they made it 1 trap per door again, but I dont feel like this is something that NEEEDS to be done. I think hes in a decent spot. Hes fun to play as, and hes not the most frustrating OP in the world to play against imo. The one that frustrates me the most is Clash, but thats a whole other bucket of worms thatll probably never get looked at again.
I’m returning to the game after many years and kapkan is the most annoying thing I’ve faced yet lol.
Kapkan is pretty well balanced. it's just that people don't want to check the doorways and Rush in which causes them to die. and even talking with other players they just refuse to check the doorways. overall I think it's just that people are misplacing their frustration into him instead of themselves because they don't check doorways. and he is easily countered by just shooting his utility.
Kapkan isnt annoying at all its just majority of the playerbase either suck or always in the mood for rushing and getting blown up,
if you get agenst a team that just always keep doing rush straight you put some sense into them by putting kapkans telling them to value of droning
Buffing Brava, Twitch and IQ, or even Nokk when it comes to maybe getting around traps, is most likely the best way to balance it.

I think Kapkan is good as is he is. As many others say, He punishes CoD players (people who just run and gun not droning). Litteraly all you have to do is look to the side of the door to counter.
