I rarely leave a comment but I just wanted to let y'all know that every time I watch one of your videos you instantly make me Happy !!! 😁🤗 I Love Y'all 💖💖💖
Loved the vlog. 🥰 You two are getting better and better on camera together. I admire your goals for the farm and I am looking forward to watching them come to fruition. God Bless.
I love all your vlogs! I really enjoy seeing the two of you together! (I could be your grandmother...I’m certainly old enough)! I admire the two of you, as well as your lovely daughters. I enjoyed hearing you making plans, regarding your garden. I’m guessing it will keep you busy all day, most days, Jill. It won’t be too much longer until you can plant without the fear of frost. I’m looking forward to seeing all the things you grow, especially the sun flowers!
Hi Jill, Lots of good information you and Nathan delivered on this blog today. I tried something new for weeds this winter and that is pine needles. We have several places we go and rake up tons of these needles and they are great. Did not see any weeds come through the pine needles and we are like you, no spring temperatures just immediately rush into summer.
I love watching and listening to you guys and seeing how sweet you are on one another and Junie Bug there picking on ya was cute and Charlie and her Zinnias...can't wait to watch yas again! Much love
Oxidised iron is an indicator of gold. Perhaps wash out the filter contents into a separate bucket until fully analysed (if you own the mineral rights). 😃😃 Loving the efficiency approach figuring out what works for you and sharing your process. Every time saving snippets you share should for sure help someone, somewhere. God Bless. x
Love all your plans for the farm, that is one of my favorite things to do, figure out how to be more efficient and self sustainable, you're definitely a homesteader, could you all do a video on your irrigation system please!!!
You are both amazing and so inspiring. I love your energy and spirit and thank you for being great teachers and leaders. I pray you are safe from the storms. God bless your family and your farm ❤️ I look forward to seeing your farm and dreams grow!
We use really old hay for mulch, never had any problems and no weeds!! I absolutely hate weeding and between hay mulch and drip irrigation on a timer, gardening has become so much more enjoyable!
Oh we talking soil now? I will say this. The beds that we added organic matter for the third year and topped the beds off with organic matter in between seasons we had barely no weeds at all. After listening to Dr. Elaine Ingham mentioned that weeds need a certain element. Once that element is not in the soil weeds don't thrive.
Yes , the leaves used mulch is the best. We have 5-6 large maple leaves we use as mulch to put over all my beds. I do try to shred the as much as possible as we clean up during Fall. We do have piles of leaves if not all have been used.
Dump/spread aged manure on “sunflower” area…No need to weed wack…cover with grass clippings continuously for weed suppression… Voila! Instant garden! 🌻🌻🌻
Love love love seeing those precious girls! I know all three keep you on your toes, but I have a feeling Miss Ivy June gives the other two a run for their money. Love you guys!
You can also grow microgreens inside under grow lights all winter. I don't have the greenhouse or high tunnel so that's what I do all through the winter to avoid buying the big tubs at the store. I grow enough to juice everyday
Way to go on getting that plot planted with grass & veggies for the pigs Nathan! I probably would have put the one going to butcher in there first though. Cute glasses Jill! Nice to see what plants you have growing and see all the progress. I love the garden tours and seeing what’s planted where and watch it grow.
Not sure if it is the same in Arkansas but in NC we had the "rust" color in our water. With water tests we had it proven that it was not rust. It is iron. It discolors the toilets and showers. High iron. No worry about our bodies being low on iron though! Lol!
I live in an apartment, but do have a small allotment garden near by so every Fall i am they crazy leaf lady that goes around the apartments and collecting leafs 😂🧑🌾
I grew up with a rusty well. My clothes were orange and it was horrible. A "reverse osmosis" system is what i had for my inside home. i am not sure about outdoor systems. That filter you have will probably need to be changed more often than what you think. Iron Out or CLR work to remove the rust off the walls but are harsh and smell miserable. I hope there is a "Hicks Gas" company like we have up here in the north. Good luck.
I saw you guys had a dangerous tornado close to where you live...just checking in to see if everyone is ok. Hopefully everything is fine...prayers for you and those in your area 🙏🏻❤
Oh y’all the winds have been CRAZY STRONG the past week! (Alabama- northern third of state) There’s not a lot can be done in such strong gusts. That little JUNIEBUG is PRECIOUS!! Always try to work smarter not harder. It does make a difference
Iron in your water. It will quickly plug your filter-check often. It will also mess with your drip line, plug your fertilizer injector. Been there-you might want to consult someone that deals in water quality management for best way to handle it in your area.
Everything's looking so awesome and green were y'all are at. Here in Texas we had a major storm come in which I was thankful because last night I planted most of my red potatoes and the last of my giant accordion orange Tomatoes along with chives and extra Marigold seedlings that I am strategically placing everywhere and that rain was perfect cuz I did not water after I transplanted and the plant are looking gorgeous. Plus the humidity was so thick last night and this morning I kid you not I think those plans look like they doubled in size just from last night LOL. Speaking of spinach Jill... My sister gave me some seeds called spinach monstrueux viroflay... I do not know how to pronounce that name though hahahaha but she sent me a picture of my great nephew with a leaf of spinach and it was so big that it covered his entire face! What I love about this spinach is that when you eat it you don't get the squeaking that is associated with some spinach varieties .... You know what I mean? when you buy spinach from the store it's always makes my teeth squeak LOL but this one does not and I'm telling you what the leaves are so big they're perfect for sandwiches or really yummy when you make meat and veggie wraps. My sister bought them she said at Baker's Creek so I'm going to order me some plus I'm going to sow some varieties of nasturtiums and white Kilimanjaro white marigolds before next week. Trying to get some companion plants going. Keep up the good work y'all because your videos are very educational and I am learning a lot
I know how you feel with the wind 🌬 we’ve had a load here in the UK 🇬🇧 it’s wild. I cannot wait for the Sunflowers 🌻 I did consecutively last year and it was fun 💕 leaves are the best form of mulch for your soil they bring all your good bugs and worms 🌸🦋🌸
Another non-seedy mulch is old silage. The seeds are destroyed in the silaging process so it doesn’t germinate extra weeds like straw and grass cuttings can! Contact any local farmers that feed out and I’m sure you’ll ease them of some burden!
Jill I am having trouble growing spinach. I started seeds in doors and nothing. Started lettuce the same time and its growing. Could you show us some tips please!!! Thank you.😍😍😍
we used leaves but we ended up with hundreds of oak trees growing everywhere. a big pain and now we have tons of work to do. be careful about the kinds of leaves you use.
I know it's a slight trip for you but I've made several trips to Searcy's City Mulch Center with my trailer. They load as much free mulch as will fill my trailer. I wonder if Conway has something like that. I've built up my entire garden with layers of cardboard, mulch and dirt. The only cost I've put in this year is buying the super soil and of course my time. This is my first year not tilling so I hope it works! Anyway, must a thought on the wood chips/mulch.
Please tell me more about your leaves and the mulching we have lots of leaves that we can use for mulch, but I’ve read that if you don’t chop them up that water and oxygen won’t get down to the soil. I have bags of leaves in my yard and I have a leaf chopper, but it hasn’t been utilized. So basically do you chop your leaves up to use as much or do you just use them all whole.
New subscriber. Im in N.E. Arkansas . Saw you on the meet up video from 5 months ago. Im real interested in the good stewardship of land by homesteaders. Will love to see what your channel is about.😁
Great video! Do you have a video showing the leaf mulching process? Do you use a mower to break it up or have a shredder? or just piling them up? I piled mine up over cardboard I layer down first because I don't have a shredder, but im thinking this spring I will have the run over the beds with my mower before planting in them.. I'm a little concerned it will become a bit of a mess/disaster. 😬
I’d love to see you guys actually do this stuff instead of just talking about it. I think you have an adorable personality but this really should just be a podcast.
Can you do a video of how you use this flame/torch method of weeding? I've never seen it done. My raised beds total up to 250 sq ft and weeds get the best of me every year!
i gota question, i put leaves on my dirt, it worked out well except the leaves didnt deteriate in the dirt, im from Michigan so maybe cuz of nthe weather?
We never planned to breed what we have. They were a cross that we got for free specifically to put in the freezer. We will be getting a show in the future that we plan on breeding
Jill, you've grown so much as a business owner, youtuber, & now farmer... its been awesome to watch thrle transformation in you!
I rarely leave a comment but I just wanted to let y'all know that every time I watch one of your videos you instantly make me Happy !!! 😁🤗

I love watching and listening to you guys and seeing how sweet you are on one another and Junie Bug there picking on ya was cute and Charlie and her Zinnias...can't wait to watch yas again! Much love
You have some great plans and ideas. Anxious to see animals come to the family farm.
Hello Susie
Hope you guys are watching Ryan Hall Y'all on YT and staying safe. Looks like you have some nasty weather right now and he is the best source of info.
I appreciate his work.

Great idea, I'll get Nate on that
Will you please ask Charlee if I can see her pullover? I coached for 28 years and her bar in the background always tugs on my heart.
So Excited for all that’s to come with y’all! Side note: when going to high five, look at the person elbow, gets a good high five every time!
😂 thanks for the high five tip
I love your homestead. Thank you for everything you do.
Thanks ❤

exciting things happening for yall
Watering my plants is very soothing for me. I’m not sure I’d want to give that up….except maybe when I wanted a getaway🥰
Hello Priscilla

We had iron in our well water also at one time typically most cities will do free water Analysis.
Love love love seeing those precious girls! I know all three keep you on your toes, but I have a feeling Miss Ivy June gives the other two a run for their money. Love you guys!
😂 you are correct

I used straw as a much once & I had nothing but weeds come in later during the summer. Have not used since.👍
Such an important topic, especially for beginners like us🥰 Great Great info U2 and precious kiddos. Happy to be here learning with you all🙌💃🏻🥰♥️

Another thing that is cool is Back to Eden Gardening. He doesn't water hardly ever.
Love your earrings. The girls are adorable.
I do believe you guys are farmsteaders (if that is not a proper word, it is now 😉✌) xxx
I like that ❤
What a timely subject for me since I just set up new raised beds. Next project is drip irrigation on a timer.
We put in drip irrigation on a timer last year. Game changer for sure!

we have had some crazy winds here too
I use leaves and love it! It's a great mulch in the winter.
Hello sierra
Junie made me laugh out loud.🤣🤣😂😆
I saw you guys had a dangerous tornado close to where you live...just checking in to see if everyone is ok. Hopefully everything is fine...prayers for you and those in your area 🙏🏻❤
I agree Nathan is getting good in these videos be great if he did his own perspective on the animals of the farm
Love, love, love freeze dried okra! 😋
Jill try perpetual spinach from Baker Creek. It’s in the chard family and will take the summer heat a bit better and you don’t have to pull it out. 🥰
Oh y’all the winds have been CRAZY STRONG the past week! (Alabama- northern third of state)

Thankyou for another vlog,
Noticed the double lines your rocking today, nose rings, hair clip, sun glasses arm, earrings
Lumber mills have mulch for good prices usually. God bless!
that looks like a great place for more flowers,
Enjoyed the video
Your girls are adorable!
Thank you ❤
It's iron in the water. We deal with the same in East Texas.
Everything's looking so awesome and green were y'all are at. Random question... but you're earrings are.so great! Where did you get them?
That's not what I think but it was a quite hilarious moment 🤣

Hey from central AR, welcome to our journey
Looks like you have a lot of iron in the water. Not harmful but you can always get it tested.
Can you link info for the frost free things you used in the irrigation? We are installing irrigation currently and that would be great to know!
amzn.to/3EmxeCJ
You can find them at farm stores cheaper
Great video! Do you have a video showing the leaf mulching process? Do you use a mower to break it up or have a shredder? or just piling them up? Nate uses the mower
I’d love to see you guys actually do this stuff instead of just talking about it. I think you have an adorable personality but this really should just be a podcast.
Angora goats and you can sell the fleece for yarn
Can you do a video of how you use this flame/torch method of weeding? I've never seen it done. My raised beds total up to 250 sq ft and weeds get the best of me every year!
I'll put Nate on that
Omg how cute
I have such a hard time getting spinach to germinate. What’s your most important tip? Thank you.
I won’t use straw ever again either! Do you use leaves in the spring too?
Not typically unless we don't plan on using the bed
Your spinach will grow all summer if you pick the outside leaves rather than cut the whole plant.
i gota question, i put leaves on my dirt, it worked out well except the leaves didnt deteriate in the dirt, im from Michigan so maybe cuz of nthe weather?
Try mulching the leaves smaller before using them. Also we water the leaves if we don't get much rainfall
I love those earrings. Where did you get them???
Where did you get that filter?
Totally not gardening related lol but those earrings look so similar to styles my friend sells on Etsy! Are they from Velvet Orange Designs??
I have seen that salt and lemmon rubbed on rust will get rid of it.
Does the flame destroy your compost.
Maybe check into chip drop. It is free. 💗
We have been on the list for two years, we live too far out
Which torch burner do you have??
Fun fact.... the hoss injector.... not freeze proof. #AskMeHowIKnow. 🤦♀️
🙂♥️
Look into treating your water with hydrogen peroxide. I am on a well that has rust, it has been totally eliminated.
Thanks for the tip
Have your water 💦Tested
Not yet
If you are butchering your only male how do you have future meat? Ie sustainable
We never planned to breed what we have. They were a cross that we got for free specifically to put in the freezer. We will be getting a show in the future that we plan on breeding
@@WhisperingWillowFarm oh ok I see
