Don't tear any of your plants out! We are the hail capital here in Colorado.. We had a storm a few years ago that actually broke the windows out of all our cars... I was sure my garden was history...it looked like chopped salad... I was then amazed at how many things came back! Stay safe and best of luck to you and your family.
Absolutely. We are in the Denver area and receive hail damage almost every year. The resilience of plants is astonishing, particularly early in the season like it is right now. I've had plants come back with shocking vigor many times. In August, maybe not so much, but fortunately nasty severe storms are less frequent by that time.
been there did that, had hailstorms take me OUT 3X back to back and said enough. Love the state, HATE the hail. Still in the Rockies but gave up the hail. It was too anxiety producing to watch everything be stripped, broken, totaled.
oh, man that storm was a doooozy! I was at the tail end in south springs juuuust about to escape it driving south and it totaled my car as I was driving, terrifying. i am a house painter and i have a couple clients that are still trying to repair MAJOR house damage from that one. yikes.
Agree!! We get freak frosts periodically, even in July, and a LOT of stuff will bounce back well even with the tops destroyed. Usually hardy perennials that have good roots have no problem, as well as any weedy acting plants like those bachelor buttons, so don't give up on them! I imagine the tulips and daffys that have snapped are a loss for this year tho 😔 I have also actually had good luck on repairing just folded over stems, as long as there is some vascular tissue left -- hold it upright, pop a section of straw (split up one side) over the damaged area leaving good overlap onto healthy stem, then tape up firmly so it's fully supported again.
Bless you. So frightening. It,s great you are safe in your basement from tornadoes and things. I was in a big earthquake once and that was so frightening. I cried every time we had an aftershock. We were on holiday. When I got home to Wales every time I heard a goods train at night it took me a second to realise we weren't going to have an earthquake. Xxxx Margaret in Cyprus
Pull up Ryan Hall Y'all on UA-cam for live coverage -- his whole purpose in life is to keep people ahead of the storms. Today looks insane down there too. He's live right now (and will be until late tonight) with a whole team of different storm chasers on the road and reporting in. Stay safe. Praying for all of you down there.
Jill and Nathan, I'm praying the peace of Jesus over you and your family. May He restore ten fold all that was damaged or lost. God's army is praying for y'all. So thankful you are safe! Stay strong in your faith! ❤
I think the thing to remember is that even though you keep stressing that the people in your life is safe so everything else is fine, just take the time to be bummed and sad about your farm and crops still. I can see you trying to keep it together and be strong. Holding back on experiencing those emotions and getting through the other storms over the next few days might overload you. Love and prayers that mother nature takes it easy on you.
💜💜💜💜🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 remember plants are resilient! They want to grow. Maybe it's not totally as bad as it looks. You definitely have a healthy way of looking at it! Hang in there.💚💚💚💚💚
Prayers for the Peace which surpasses ALL understanding for ya'll. One step at a time. One day at a time. Plants will bounce back, and so will you. That's gotta be frightening and disheartening, but you and your family, your loved ones are alive and well! The sun will come out at the end of the week and you will feel so much better! My thoughts and prayers are with you guys!🙏❤️🙏❤️
Moments like this, I just say while it's going on, "God, take the wheel! You're will be done, just keep us safe!!" Glad to see you all are safe even though you sustained some damage. I will be keeping you all in my prayers!!
God bless you all. 💕 We were watching “ Ryan Hall Yall” on you tube and saw how close things have been to you. So glad to hear from you and you are safe.😊
I cried and mourned my garden as I walked through and accessed the damage. I just plant rough 140 flower seedlings this past week. The hail busted out our car windshield as well.
I am so glad you guys are okay. I live right below the state line of AR and LA. We were hit hard, but it can all be replaced. I was going to put all of my starts out and decided l would wait until after Easter. I am so glad i did. We are going to get another wave of storms on the weekend. You still have time for garden crops. They will just be a couple weeks later. I know you are going to get the job done in recovery. Blessing and prayers sent your way. Stay safe!!!
When my kids were little, we created a routine for storms and heading to the basement. It really helped to know the plan. 1) put your shoes by the basement door 2) go get your storm pack - a backpack filled with goodies like you suggested (and essential items). One time we put our 5 chickens in a dog crate in the basement...lol.
I am so sorry you had to go through that. The good thing is that you and your family are safe. The plants will regrow and you can replant. Stay safe and be blessed and grateful that your family is safe.
Lord bless and protect you all! I only had a bad hail once and it destroyed a glass porch table, but lesson learned. The tulips and daffodils will come back next year, the garlic will bounce back, thank God you’re all safe!
I'm glad you guys and kids are ok. Keep close at heart that your Faith will help keep you calm. You'd be surprised how many plants can make it through....lots of prayers!!! ♡♡♡♡♡ God very clearly Loves you.
Waiting to replace everything until after these storms is definitely a good idea.. Oddly enough clear packaging tape is a good temporary fix for the greenhouse plastic until you are past the storms. I wouldn't give up on everything in your garden. You might be surprised what will make a rebound especially things like your garlic. We were hit by some of these same storms here in Oklahoma. We had 3 tornado warnings within just a few miles of our house Monday night. Our prayers are with you.
I've already bought some heavy duty tape just for this reason. It doesn't have the full name on it but it feels 5 x thicker then regular shipping tape. Bought off amazon. Prayers more bounces back then it looks like now, stay safe.
StL area just went through this today. They expected tornadoes to come today during school hours so as a Mama that just lost her husband last year, sorry kiddo yr staying home with me. We had alot of wind & rain. No hail or tornado thank the Lord. I will be praying for y'all.
keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. you could try to place your plants in the greenhouse and tunnel under the tables that they are sitting on for the night. most of all please know that we are all sending many positive thoughts and prayers.🙏🏼🙏🏼
I live in Oklahoma and I have seen an F5 up close and personal . I know what you are going through . I am glad you all survived and remember things can be replaced but your babies can't , like you said Jill . I pray for you through this storm season .
Jill, when my babies were little I had a real, but over inflated fear of sliding on the ice into the lake near our house. It's logical but disruptive to life. My Mama heart says, tell your doc and try emdr therapy. You don't have to feel this way! Oh, and don't pull out the plants, they will be OK! We get so much hail in Colorado and the plants always survive. 💜
OH MY GOSH!!! Thinking of you!!! When I lived in Indiana we had a tornado go 20 feet parallel to our house - we got so lucky! This was 30 years ago and I will never forget it. Be safe! ❤️
Sending you a big hug❤️ I went through a big earthquake when I was a teenager here in California in 1989 I’m still traumatized by it You never forget and changes you forever❤️
I'm seeing this on Thursday so I hope you got thru Wednesday ok. We also have a metal roof so I know what it sounds like when the hail hits. God bless you guys. Glad you have a place to go.
So glad you have very minimal damage. The storms were wild. Soooo many people were not as lucky as you. Hope you don't get anymore storms like that. Take care, stay safe!
Praying for you all hail is so deafening and then to have that silence afterwards. That was the first thing I thought of when you mentioned the weather radio if possible get the hand crank kind. So glad the damage wasn't worse. It was so sweet that Charlie was worried about her flowers:)
A good idea to reframe the way you respond to storms-especially for the kiddos. I understand it can feel scary-but the advice you are giving your children could be relayed to your inner-self. It is all just stuff-you have a safe basement to be in-practice a little meditation before the storms move in. Having it be a "adventure"-sleeping in the basement, coloring books, games. Respect nature, but you are in control of your reactions to it. I own/manage a small vineyard and have had "softball" size hail pound through it. Its amazing how resilient plants are-deep breaths-
So glad you are safe and ok . The garden loss is unfortunate but it reminds us that we aren’t in control even in the best of times. Plants like us are born to ultimately die so when the storms are gone the sun will come out and grow more plants . I am always bummed when plants don’t make it but it’s life and death. Focus on GOD and He will bring the harvest ❤❤❤
🙋Hi from Scotland ,aw I am so sorry to hear about the storm and the damage it has done it is a horrible feeling to loose a lot of plant you have grown and kept going through winter nature can be cruel I am so glad you and your lovly family are safe I wish you all the best over the next few days take care stay safe Anne from Scotland .💐💐
I watched the HUGE F5 tornado in May 1985 - SW PA - travel less than a 1/2 mile from me-heading right for the tiny house I lived in!!! I TOTALLY understand storm anxiety when the weather gets really bad!! My Hubby wasn't home... he "doesn't get it" either... he laughs at me!!! Glad you are safe.
Everything got a dollar tree hair cut. I am praying everything is okay! I remember when we had a vicious storm and I was in my daughters room and we were praying, and she asked the Lord to send the storm away and it was not a moment after her prayer the wind died down. I loved how God strengthened her faith in Him.
So glad to see you all safe and well 💕 your totally right Shaun everything will bounce back plants are more resilient than we think 💕 your in my prayers guy’s 🙏💕🙏
Everything's not ruined. Most everything I saw most of the plant is still there and basically standing strong at this point. Most stuff has damage but as everyone I watch says "plants want to grow". They will fix themselves. They might be stunted or not quite as great as usual but they will thrive again. Leave them be and give them normal care and I'm sure it will all be good in the end.
I remember about 30 years ago I lived in south Texas and a hail storm came through and completely mowed my garden down to just nubs coming out of the ground. I was heartbroken but thankful for the safety of my family
I would highly recommend having more then one communication device. You might already have a plan but using only your phone isnt good. P.A.C.E.: primary, alternate, contingency, emergency. A weather radio is good, Nathan. I would also recommend some kind of amateur radio. Ham requires a test and fee. GMRS requires a license but its cheap and covers all of your family. You guys could have one and Jill's sister can have one. That way if phones go down, the radio could be used for 2 way communication.
Those storms are about 50 miles West of me. Luckily the the worst in supposed to be South of me. Storms never bothered me until a few years ago. Now they scare me. I was hoping so very hard that you wouldnt cry. If you ever show that Ill fall apart. At 41 Im gettin very soft hearted. Looking at the radar, it looks like you are almost through with the bad weather. I hope and pray all is well!
Jill you Guys are safe, but i know that you have been through alot, in the past. I can not imagine how you feel. I am pleased you are All. safe and well xxxxx. Zinnias bless her x You all have worked hard. I will keep you in my Heart❤❤❤❤❤❤
Our area got hit two years a go with a huge hail storm Stones the size of golf balls or larger. Cars everywhere with smashed out windshields. I agree with the others. Your crops look damaged but not dead. Most those flowers will bounce back it just means a later harvest. But i totally feel your pain the R&R Mod Squad I was watching the radar with cousin Amy that night praying over y'all
We have put together a bug-out box to keep in our basement for this weather. Make it s fun time play games etc to distract the girls. Distilled water, water bottles, snacks. Protein snacks...etc. be safe praying for you all.
I'm glad you're all safe. I am very sorry for the loss of your vegetables and flowers. As a home gardener, I know how crushing that is. I will pray you all stay safe during the remainder of the storms! And a weather radio is a very good thing to have. My son lives in a wildfire area and doesn't have TV either, so I bought him a weather radio for Christmas.
Since roots weren’t damaged I think a lot of the plants will do better than you think Also the greenhouse plants look great And the greenhouses don’t look that damaged
Listen to everyone on here who already commented. Use the tape to patch the plastic.. do not do a total plastic replacement. Leave the flowers etc alone… most will come back given a chance. Do turn everything in to your insurance. You may get paid even for the things you choose to leave in the ground. Weather radio is a must. Prepare your shelter space . Listen to Ryan Hall. Always hold on to God. He watches over you always. I like your vlogs so much. Been following you since before Jess moved. You and Nathan are such lovely people.
Sit the plant starts down on the ground under the tables and put cardboard or anything else solid on top of the tables, just in case the plastic fails. It’s weaker now going to another round of storms.
Glad you r okay. I remember growing up in Bay,Ar. I watched tornados from our porch. My grandmother was just like you. She didnt move into a house unless the storm celler was built first. Keeping u in my thoughts and prayers. You r an inspiration to me.
Watching Ryan Hall y’all & waiting to get hit in middle TN. Praying for all affected and that the worst stays away from populated areas. These storms are the bad side of spring 😖😫
Oh my heart!!!! Poor Charlie was worried about her zinnias! 🥺 I am so very glad you all are ok!!! Everything else can be replaced....but you can't ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Continued prayers for you 🙏🙏🙏
I understand. Praying for you all. I was in a tornado and even thunder and lightning can be to much. Most of the time Praise and Worship songs calm me.
I know how you feel. Today April 13 was 2 yrs ago that a storm brought down a huge pine tree down the middle of my house. Thankfully we were home. My brother immediately climbed on the roof with an axe and started removing limbs. Long story short I can no longer sleep during storms. I'm in my 60's and it is hard. Praying for y'all and your farm
I am so sorry 🥺 I know it's just stuff... But dang it ! Storms were a stirring in our area last night (Iowa) I was out hollering at the pending storms, pleading the blood of Jesus , tongue talking , the whole bit 😆 I will be praying for you all 💙
Don’t give up on the crops my friend. Hopefully they have a good strong root system and will emerge with some good healthy new growth with the heat ❤️🙏🏼 stay safe, many prayers being sent your way.
We dont take storms litely either. Like everything else in our lives, we prepare for just these situations. We're in N.E. Arkansas, not far from you. We have sustained roof damage twice lately. It's up to y'all to maintain calm for your children. Hope all is well on your homestead. There are many of us in your situation. Prayer for us all in this line of storms. It is spring time. Please make your home as safe possible for these situations for your children.
Sorry for the loss of your plants and damage to your vehicles. You need to purchase a small 19 inch tv. This way you can get the weather and see what happens in other places. Good Luck and stay safe.🙏
Sooooo sorry for your losses, but as you say-your family is ok. I will be praying as your storms pass. Maybe you can buy some plants at your upcoming sale to replace your cabbages and such. Hugs and take care of each other!
Thankful you all are ok and the green houses withstood the storms. I agree not changing the plastic out until this weather season has passed. May God continue to watch over you all and God Bless.
Watched RYAN HALL YA'LL WHILE I WAS DRIVING.. THE TORNADOS JUST KEPT COMING. HE DOES SHOW RADAR AND THEY WERE SHOWING HUGE HAIL.. ALOT OF DAMAGE.. TREES FALLING.. OKLAHOMA ARKANSAS AND IOWA ALL GOT HIT HARD.
I am so sorry for you guys! We got pummeled here in Australia this year and I feel for you. This crazy weather is so unpredictable and you are in my prayers. Take care xx Cathi xx
I am so sorry your crops were hit. But like you said, the most important part of the farm is your family and you are safe. Sending you positive vibes that the worst of the storms has passed for you.
Since you have no TV....there is a UA-camr channel called Ryan Hall Y'all who does weather and storm tracking.....Homestead Heart (another UA-camr) in GA got hit by a tornado last week, said she was listening to Ryan Hall and got the warning to take cover from him, he specified where the tornado was, looked outside and it was there!! I heard about him from her...he's live as I'm writing this.
I’m glad you’re safe! I’m glad your house is “made of bricks” and that you have a basement! I’m sorry about the plant loss and other damage- one more thing to add to the list-a garage! 😬 Stay safe.💕
I agree!
I imagine the tulips and daffys that have snapped are a loss for this year tho 😔
I have also actually had good luck on repairing just folded over stems, as long as there is some vascular tissue left -- hold it upright, pop a section of straw (split up one side) over the damaged area leaving good overlap onto healthy stem, then tape up firmly so it's fully supported again.
God keep you all safe & strengthen you in this trial..may he Bless you all with a Rainbow of peace & prosperity xx
Bless you. So frightening. It,s great you are safe in your basement from tornadoes and things. I was in a big earthquake once and that was so frightening. I cried every time we had an aftershock. I don’t even watch my local weather at all since I found him lol
Which he is local to me but still 🤣
We watch Ryan too. We watched him all day today
You guys need your own WHISPERING WILLOW FAN PAGE!!!!! 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
Jill and Nathan, I'm praying the peace of Jesus over you and your family. May He restore ten fold all that was damaged or lost. God's army is praying for y'all. So thankful you are safe! Stay strong in your faith! ❤
We are having bad winds here in Michigan. GODBLESS you all , so glad you all are safe dears. Prayers for you all

You can patch the holes 🕳 growers solutions has a tape that you can use, you don’t need to replace the whole thing.

Y'ALL ARE IN MY PRAYERS AND EVERYONE WHO IS FEELING THESE STORMS THIS WEEK.
God bless you all. 💕 We were watching “ Ryan Hall Yall” on you tube and saw how close things have been to you. So glad to hear from you and you are safe.😊
Yes I agree. Ryan Hall Great With the weather
Definitely subscribe to Ryan Hall Yall, he covers every state with tornadoes. We never depend on local weather anymore.
We watch him as well. Didn't see your comment before I posted mine. Good advice 😆

Was watching him as well and was afraid that it was getting close. Ryan Hall Ya’ll is an essential at my house.
I cried and mourned my garden as I walked through and accessed the damage. I just plant rough 140 flower seedlings this past week. The hail busted out our car windshield as well.

Me too. He’s good.

I watch Ryan Hall Y'all !! Storm chasers are great. Keep people safe.
Naders in the Dark are the worst !
Lord bless and protect you all! I only had a bad hail once and it destroyed a glass porch table, but lesson learned. The tulips and daffodils will come back next year, the garlic will bounce back, thank God you’re all safe!

And even amongst the devastation the Cardinal still sings! Someone is looking over you! 🙏
Glad y'all are ok. Good luck with the next storm. I'd give your plants a couple weeks; they could surprise you. The garlic for 1 should be just fine.
I live in Oklahoma and I have seen an F5 up close and personal . I know what you are going through . I am glad you all survived and remember things can be replaced but your babies can't , like you said Jill . I pray for you through this storm season .

Call your insurance co you I’ll be surprised how well they can help!
I pray that all the next storms won’t be so bad.
Thank goodness your all ok
I did wonder about that too!
Hey, we did see the video on Wednesday! Yes, we’ll keep you in our prayers!

I keep you in my prayers for you and your family. Veggie will be ok. Savy
We bought a wind up weather radio (acts as phone charger too and flashlight) as well as a plug in one. Have used it more than once.
I'm not sure what you've been doing with your hair Jill but I love seeing it down and wavy, so lovely ❤
Thank you
Will be praying that God will protect your family during the coming storms. Glad you are all ok and that your willow tree is ok too!
Praying for you and that the future storms bypass you.
Peace through this tumultuous weather! This is my prayer for you all!! 💝💝💝
Family is always #1.
Keeping your family in my prayers.
I’m so glad you guys are ok! You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers. All things work together for good. God will work everything out.
I'm so glad ya'll are okay. I see on the radar that it's pounding you right now! Hang in there!!
Sure you are all ok! Praying you dont lose more in the next few days.
My prayers are with you and your family as you go through these next couple days of storms please stay safe and give us updates when you can🙏
Sit the plant starts down on the ground under the tables and put cardboard or anything else solid on top of the tables, just in case the plastic fails.
Please stay safe OMGOSH!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Watching Ryan Hall y’all & waiting to get hit in middle TN. Praying for all affected and that the worst stays away from populated areas. These storms are the bad side of spring 😖😫
Oh my heart!!!! Poor Charlie was worried about her zinnias! 🥺 I am so very glad you all are ok!!! Everything else can be replaced....but you can't ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Continued prayers for you 🙏🙏🙏
Stay safe, that's the only thing that matters!
I understand. Praying for you all. I was in a tornado and even thunder and lightning can be to much. Most of the time Praise and Worship songs calm me.
We are praying over you guys! Like you said, stuff is just stuff! Find the rainbow 🌈!! Stay safe in the next couple of days! 🙏🙏🙏
If you can get online, Ryan Hall Y’all does live storm tracking here on UA-cam. Glad you’re safe!
🙏 for you all. Stay safe😘 we love you all! Hugs for the children 😘
I'll keep you all in my prayers. And hope the worst weather misses you.
I am so sorry 🥺 I know it's just stuff... But dang it ! Storms were a stirring in our area last night (Iowa) I was out hollering at the pending storms, pleading the blood of Jesus , tongue talking , the whole bit 😆 I will be praying for you all 💙
Continued prayers! May the Lord protect you all!
Don’t give up on the crops my friend. Hopefully they have a good strong root system and will emerge with some good healthy new growth with the heat ❤️🙏🏼 stay safe, many prayers being sent your way.
Stuff is just stuff!! I've sat through hurricanes tornadoes and YES life is most MOST important..stuff can be replaced!! Be safe God s got you!!!
Watched RYAN HALL YA'LL
WHILE I WAS DRIVING..
Sorry for your loss. This makes me sad. Glad you are safe. 🥰
Thanks girl, we will be just fine
Prayers you and your community can ride the storms. You guys are creative, passionate and resourceful. I know you will come back strong ❤️
I am praying for you and your family will be safe thru the storms. I hope your garden will recover enough to meet your obligations. 🙏🏻❤️
Prayers for y’all. Glad you guys are ok.
I’m glad you’re safe! I’m glad your house is “made of bricks” and that you have a basement! I’m sorry about the plant loss and other damage- one more thing to add to the list-a garage! 😬 Stay safe.💕
