They’d probably be lazy. There’s so many “do this for you” plugins today that we have an over saturation of people without musical talent making “beats”. It’s good to have a convenience yeah but it’s even better to have resistance. 🙂

The reason that he mentions the MPC60 "TWO" is because this was the version that had a few alterations on it. The main one being that there was a software fix of a known bug that corrupted loops and edits.
It was a bone of contention for many producers for a loooong time then AKAI fixed and so peple DO differentiate it by stating the MPC60 Two or Mkll or V2.0 or whatever.....but that's why!!

Youngn's we were sampling vinyl off 1200's to 8 bit Gemini to using 4 track tape to just bustn' many of us couldn't afford the 60, 60 II, or the 3000. My first was the Roland DR-5 with 4 tracks and no sampling. I got everything now☝️Keep it working young men. The industry has changed yet a side note. Just write, produce, and stay in the pocket while staying in the background. Get a check and keep quiet. The Industry, Nope. From a wise man of many years.

@matthewcrafter the SP-1200 was made using the best electronics parts available with true analog filters like the SSM chips, which are no longer available and too expensive to reproduce. USA + JAPAN made electronics and samplers of yesteryear where CHINA and INDIA make 95% of today's musical equipment. All Akai products are now made in China. Cheap production, Cheap parts = Cheap sound.

@djdiscomikki Maschine wasn't meant to be or replace an MPC, its another tool to make music, period! Fools, need to stop comparing it to the MPC. What's cool about it is you can use Maschine as a plugin in any daw or as a stand alone to record a full production. With the ability to use vst in Maschine coming in the next update is a great option for many. I own a MPC 2500 LE, Roland MV8000, Yamaha Motif and Maschine, which all sample, but I rarely sample. Each has it's own sound and usability.

@drumatic gots to say Japan or USA on it for me. SP12, MPC 60, 3000, S950, ASR10... these classic machines were made WITHOUT hip hop in mind, meaning, they were genuine studio products. since manufacturers started making machines geared toward market demographics like that of hip hop or techno, shit went plastic (and Chinese) because they knew these new demographics weren't pros and they could get away with cheaper parts ( and sound). the old shit pounds, those who cant hear it, well..

I love sampling stuff too, but for me it depends really if it's sampling one-shots of things, like a real dirty raw kick or snare on an old funk track, or a lush synth, and a real deep vocal i can rework, or if you're say, sampling a whole break, then a whole chord progression. When it's the latter I kind of think 'well that's just the same as using a couple of loops really, isn't it...', kinda lazy. At least just sample individual drums, or one chord and make a new progression etc (imo)...

well they saved cost by having the computer do the heavy lifting - and have the sound and muscle come from there...yes i know a box that doesnt need anything is ideal - but a maschine has more tech than an mpc 5000 - so i guess that's the only way to make it affordable... - what scares me most with computers and software is more points of failure...boxes very rarely fail ... Maschine is as close as it gets - but at the end it's always about the artist- these things are just tools...

@NsOakland6 Don't you realize a lot of "hardware" is controlled by software, including the MPC, Fantom , Motif, Triton? It's about choices, and software will always have more abilities the hardware. You have software like pro tools, logic and Ableton than has groove templates such as the MPC and sp1200 and allows you to make your own grove templates, hardware you are pretty much limited in that respect, I use hardware and software, both software is advancing as hardware phases out.

The style of sampling and elements caused the quality of hip-hop beats to decrease;not hardware. It just sounds like the sound you load in. As time went on we embodied flows, lingo, and beat styles of who became popular in the game. Repeated vocal loops, hi hats everywhere, and chipmunk voices...try something different. Just like a bike is a bike whether new or old fashioned....same with samplers.
