I think after that track he did with Toni Tony Tone, he began to move to even more smooth party tracks. Plus he was working with Suga Free and El Debarge alot.
Lol in one interview he credits El Debarge as the reason why he looked very "metrosexual" in those days hahaha hence the Rhythmalism cover.
