John Frusciante is such an awesome guitarist, and he is definitely one of my favorites. His funk and rock influences definitely show in a way unique to him, and how his guitar parts interact with Fleas’ bass lines is really cool and innovative. I’m so stoked to see what the next Chili Peppers album looks like!
Dude, I have learned to enjoy your quirkiness in your videos. At first it was a little off putting, but now I enjoy it. Its kinda like swing. Also, you're a pretty good guitar player. hehehe. Keep on Rocking', Brother.
that strat colour is to die for - I’ve been looking for the ‘62 reissue from the fujigen era in Japan for a while now as the preCBS models are far out of my price range
He's really the only guitarist I felt fit that band other than Hillel. Yeah Dave Navarro is talented but the only living guitarist for them is John Frusciante.
Literally one of my favorite tunes of all time!! So stoked for John being back in band. Thanks for sharing this, looking forward to giving it a go myself 🎸🎸🎸
Had the tab book back when they first released this album. There are a TON of great things going on with Frusciante's playing on that album. Such a fun album to play along with. "My Lovely Man" is an absolute blast to jam along to.
I've bought most of the tab books from hal leonard and I've learned so many little eccentricities in his playing. Way better than looking up tabs that people did by ear other than I can't hear it play while reading
Saweeet video as always RB! Hendrix did a lot of early work backing up bands with that type of playing...and you can hear both player's influence coming from that R&B swinging soulful vibe! Diggin' it baby! High Fives! 😎🎸
We went to see RHCPs back in 1989, right after Mother's Milk came out. They played for free in Durham, N.H. We found out the day of, and drove the hour up to see them. They were explosive, and they were just fire on-stage. I agree that the peppers lost something when he left the band. He has something about his playing that is a few steps beyond most other players, and I think it has everything to do with his note selection and de-selection. Ya know? What he plays and also what he DOESN'T play.
This and Sir Psycho are some of the best songs on the albums. Not a ton of praise since I love most every song on the album, but they’re definitely 5-7th best songs on the album
I'm really getting into your channel man: great playing, great content and perspective, and of course Get the Led Out Fridays. Thanks for all your work and keep em' commin'!
Never cared for the Chili Peppers' hippie shit, but you appear to rock it, brother. Care to walk me through Chris Oliva's solo on "Edge of Thorns"?? :^D
Who else is pumped?!
Totally! They weren't the same without him. Btw, has that guitar left your hands yet?
Who ain’t!?!
I am! Can't wait to see what happens next
Great to see you share thr love 😁 i was always wondering how you never mentioned frusciante in your vids and if you where one of them chili haters 😌
I'm going to see them at pinkpop!

One of my faves too! Glad to know I’m not alone.
i love how u see the snow outside the window.
I had the solo for Wet Sand down pat once. Took a while. Frusciante has great style & skill/talent. Hope he stays on the wagon.
underated song
Wow theres elements of that riff I use and Ive never heard of this guy your talking about
You got this strat in perfect timing for Johns return eh?
Red hot lesson hot like a banana fire stuffed with jalapeños 🤘🏽
Did anyone else notice it's snowing ⛄
He lives in snowhio
Probably show have played "SNOW" by RHCP lol😂
I've been playing Snow(hey Oh)
Fun song
Snow??
Ahora de repente son todos fanáticos de Frusciante...
What was that intro lick? 👅
I was expecting sir psycho sexy but this song is also weird af
Apache Rose Peacock was always my favorite track and I'm glad to see someone else giving that song the respect it deserves! Right on Robert!
Yes its so good!
She got one of them built in heaters...
Frusciante is such an prolific and rhythmic funk kind of guitarist. Most of his riffs are strong and embellished. Glad to know that he is coming back!
last time I was this early to comment on a Robert Baker video John Frusciante was in the band the second time haha
Great lesson, and that whole album is a masterpiece of funky original playing. The drum sounds have to be among the best ever.👍
Dude yes the drums sound massive
I don’t consider myself a big RHCP fan, but this album is in my top 5 favorites of all time, and what a great track to choose. Great video, man.
I'm seriously happy to see Apache Rose Peacock getting some love. It's always been one of my favorites RHCP tunes.
Man, that strat has such a glassy, multi-dimensional tone to it. Mojo overload!
that strat colour is to die for - I’ve been looking for the ‘62 reissue from the fujigen era in Japan for a while now as the preCBS models are far out of my price range
Hello Robert, absolutely beautiful '63 Strat you have here and the history behind it is amazing! Congratulations! ☺
He's really the only guitarist I felt fit that band other than Hillel. Yeah Dave Navarro is talented but the only living guitarist for them is John Frusciante.
the golden four are back!!!
So happy you uploaded this, I didn't think many people knew about this and I've wanted to learn it for years but could never quite figure it out
Awesome video! Can you make a video on the tone and strumming technique of Can't Stop?
Any thumbnail that guitar is in will be an automatic view from me. Just seeing that Axe in action is a privilege✌️
Blood sugar is one of my all time favorite albums ever ever
Literally one of my favorite tunes of all time!! So stoked for John being back in band. Thanks for sharing this, looking forward to giving it a go myself 🎸🎸🎸
so funny to play with bass, so hard with guitar, apache rose peacock
Great Straty sounds! What kind of pickups you got in that strat?

This is Mickey mouse in comparison to 'snow'
Rob can you please play funky monks!?
I almost did that one instead of this one! those 2 are my favorites but Apache edged it out
@@RobertBakerGuitar dude if you're ever in Vancouver we gotta jam, you have immaculate taste 👌
That strat is the bees knees
First bit sounds wrong. John is good but he copied hillel slovak and jimi hendrix , plus i prefer dave navarro
nah listen to the song on youtube at half speed its spot on for sure. There's an instrumental version as well thats cool to check out.
Thought it was gonna be Snow
Sitting on a sack of beanssss...
Dude, that strat.... nice
was expecting cant stop
Very Coooool !
Great riff
Saweeet video as always RB! Hendrix did a lot of early work backing up bands with that type of playing...and you can hear both player's influence coming from that R&B swinging soulful vibe! Diggin' it baby! High Fives! 😎🎸
Haha 3rd yes.
Great song, great album, and you're playing great on a a great guitar... what's not to like?
Oh yeah, and it's snowing in the background! Cool :-)
Wait what was the intro to this video? Was that just a jam? Because I thought that was even better than the main riff.
Thanks and yeah that was just off the cuff

EXCELLENT LESSON Robert!!! Anxious to see what new magic he brings out of the RHCP camp!!!
I'm really glad you said SRV bc I've always thought there are some good comparisons between JF and SRV
This and Sir Psycho are some of the best songs on the albums. Not a ton of praise since I love most every song on the album, but they’re definitely 5-7th best songs on the album
Lots of snow there. No snow in Florida. :-)
youre telling me. my first winter here and its been 80 degrees all week.
@@lifeguard212 You must be in South Florida. It's about 50 in Pensacola.
During that cold front a couple weeks ago there might as well have been.
Good for you
@@darthbolloful Yes, it is.
For the guitar riff ALL can’t play ... snow.
I can't believe you made a video about this song! I just learned it last week it is so much fun to play! So funky!!
I am just now starting to learn this funky rhythmic style of playing. This seems like a good song to practice with.
I thought this was just gonna be another person teaching snow. Great song but overdone on youtube. Thanks for always showing the gems.
He also likes ad accents on the upstroke on the thinner strings breaking the rhythm every now and then. Very strange, as if internally he plays 32.
Great Riff; sounds like James Brown in a basket
That snow coming down outside was a great added video effect. Lol
9:45 definitely up for some more john frusciante stuff
Do you have a chorus on?
Yep, all BSSM songs have Chorus, as John used a Chorus pedal to split his signal to two different amps.
To learn that style, listen to Prince!!! 😎😎😎
is he wearing The Macho Man Randy Savage Shirt?
Brrrrr looks really cold outside! Great vid as always
Love your guitar, what an instrument.
Great lesson! How did you get that tone?
Aha!
I ASKED FOR THE '63 FENDER LAST VIDEO AND THERE IS!
I hope there's some sweet new J.F. riffs in the somewhat near future.
Beginning to look a lot Like xmas, Snow falling
That's the '63 Strat!
It's snowing!
Little known fact - Robert Baker doesn't play the 63...the 63 plays Robert Baker...
:D
Can confirm
What happens if you get copyrighted and you get demonetized? Do you work a regular job? Or is youtube all you do? Serious question
He sells his own online guitar courses, and I believe he does some gigs.
I'm really getting into your channel man: great playing, great content and perspective, and of course Get the Led Out Fridays. Thanks for all your work and keep em' commin'!
Thank you dude I appreciate that!
How do you like the 63 now that it’s back to the 63 electronics?
ha it actually hasnt been done yet and ran and got it shot this video and then took it back lol
That tone is right on spot dude
Aside from the reverb, yeah.
Never cared for the Chili Peppers' hippie shit, but you appear to rock it, brother. Care to walk me through Chris Oliva's solo on "Edge of Thorns"?? :^D
Man I really thought you would show me how to play Snow
