Man... this music brings back memories... mostly memories of frustration at the game because I could never beat it, but I always used to go back to it to try and get just a little farther. I think 6-2 was the farthest I ever got. I definitely remember the "river" in 6-1, so I at least made it that far.
One NES game that I never ever bought but played alot of via my local mall in 1989!! I need to play to play this again!!! Needs a remake, indie game or otherwise!!!
I always figured that the player character should conserve energy by not hop-and-skipping in place so much. This robot's energy drain is like Master Higgins's killer metabolism.
Actually, the key items *aren't* randomly placed, they'll always appear in the same places. Only weapons, medals (currency), and other consumables of that nature are random.
God this game was brutal. It was good, but you had to have mad resource management skills and a ton of patience, especially in the later levels where items were scarce.
I absolutely hated this game when my parents got it for me, but back then I would still play till i beat it. Was a very hard, frustrating game, but in retrospect those were the best ones to play
The game was actually more advanced than it let on! When I played this via my old local in 1989, I had a vague idea that I had to escape the level and the game had a tight time limit but I knew nothing about using the power ups to progress in it! The mazes almost seemed to go on forever and only seeing this did I realize that the game had exits as well?! Kinda knew that I might of needed a candle in the dark zones as well. It was all a much for the 10 year old for me to process back then but once you watch this, you see how deep the game is maybe pushing the NES as well?! Robo Warrior is the "Dark Souls" of all the Bomberman franchise regardless of it's somewhat jolly musical score.
This game was frustrating difficult to conqueor. And even to this date I could never quite get to the end. The fact that you could just get unlucky in the dark basements without candles would be horrid. Excellent fun, but just punishingly hard.
i also played this as a kid in early 90's.. i know it's from late 1988 but. damn this game is long and hard i finally beat in 2007.the music rocks. but alot NES games were long back in 80's a then when you beat it you get a short crappy ending. this guy owned level 2-2 without a lamp on there that level is hell good job .i still have a few copies of this game some of which i'm, selling!
@rachparov When I played it as a kid, I had no clue the trick was to find the key on every stage. I didn't even think it was possibly to ever beat it before the days of the internet.
5:24 - O_O WAIT A DAMN MINUTE......THAT'S HOW YOU COULD SURVIVE LONGER IN THIS GAME?!?! I've been trying to beat this game for over 25 years, and I'm only NOW learning this?!?!? See, this is the one downside of buying pre-owned games back in the 80s - most of the important things you needed were in the manuals, which most pre-owned games didn't have, so unless you FOR SURE knew how to play, you were stuck. Guaranteed, if this game were remade today, you'd at least have a tutorial level to show you some of this stuff.
Fantastic notes! I hadn’t played this game since the 80s when I was partying three days straight… It was really frustrating until I found these notes and they are wonderful! I finally finished with 2,500,900 points! Next time I go through, I’m gonna see how far I can get without referring to the notes except for the order to blow up the idols. Now it’s onto jackal and snake rattle and roll!
Holy crap...the level loops on forever until you find the randomly placed key...with your lifebar draining continually...bombs are limited. Sadistic shit.
Yes this game was confusing back in the day playing this as kid in 1990 age 12 and difficult finally beat it as a adult in 2006 I beat it once that boss that looks like a head was pain it took me 5 tries to beat it this is just one of those NES games u beat once and forget about it and never look back lol good luck to all the Robo Warriors players out there-I would not try to beat it again sorry don't have nerves to endure that again lol! !oh and the ending of this game was very short like alot of 1980's NES games
I used to like that game but never got far. Even if i was a very good gamer back then, i never found any secret passages and never got to the first boss...mmm not my game i guess
Damn i'm playing this game right now, i wanted to see how long it is there's still like 50 minutes to finish it...........but i'm still glad i found this game after all these years i almost thought that i dreamed it because every time i'm looking for this i end up on bomberman (because they both have this vertical scroll level thing) and because back then i couldn't go beyond level 2-1 because of the fucking wall...
Ugly, worst game in Bomberman franchise. Giant boring maps, 13 minutes for level... And guns, WTF?! Bomberman 2/Dynablaster was best, then began perversions.

I absolutely loved this game back in it´s days. And, needless to say, I was completely unable to finish it.
The music rocks, by the way...
Oof, the supply management in this game.
when I was kid this Damn game it was dumb hard I couldn't beat it.

Nice, thanks for uploading!

I had to leave the game on pause while I was at school then play more each day till I beat it.

Period? I didn't realize he was playing Hockey
I like the music of it.
I recall barely getting past the second boss ( snake-like dragon), but never beat it; too bad it wasn't given any kind of save system
I had to leave this running, pausing and coming back, for a couple of days to beat it.
@rachparov When I played it as a kid, I had no clue the trick was to find the key on every stage. I didn't even think it was possibly to ever beat it before the days of the internet.
Well... it was written in the manual...
In Japanese version, titled "Bomber King"
With the graphical engine they used with this game, they could have made a really good zelda style game with it.
Luckily the endlessly looping ear torture is actually a pretty good ass song.
i remember when i first beat this game.. i was so damn proud XD
That intro scene told us absolutely NOTHING
And I thought cell phone batteries were bad, Robowarrior keeps running low on energy all the time.
Robowarrior?? This must be Bomber King the spinoff game from Blaster Master series, with Jason like a main character..
Plays more like Bomberman than Blaster Master though. Makes sense because Hudson made this and Bomberman, while Sunsoft did Blaster Master.

I had this game but never beat it..
I swear when my dad finally beat this game he never played it again. Don't blame him.

getting a bomber man/ metroid feel from this. was that ridley flying by there?
Holy crap...the level loops on forever until you find the randomly placed key...with your lifebar draining continually...bombs are limited. Sadistic shit.
Is not randomly.
They made the bomb placing incredibly difficult over here. It was okay in Bomberman. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Am I crazy or is the soundtrack similar to Hector 87?
You forgot out of price item when finishing the level...and sometimes the flying ennemies stop coming...but i found a way to make appear again.
I remember playing this as a kid. I didn't get far though. Too difficult
Yes, and confusing. Might give a go now.
I have no words for this....
Maybe its because I was like 8 but damn. I don't think i even made it to 2-1
I used to like that game but never got far. Even if i was a very good gamer back then, i never found any secret passages and never got to the first boss...mmm not my game i guess

*cough* Bomberman Act Zero *cough*
+Red Lord
It's technically not a Bomberman game, nor in the franchise (it takes liberties from the series though) so......
