How A Punter Single Handedly Won This Game

I mistakenly said Iowa State instead of Iowa in recording, my apologies, didn't realize I let that slip. Thank you all for your patience ♥
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's not often a Punter wins MVP but in this close defensive battle, Tory Taylor played his role perfectly as he dominated the special teams game helping his team walk away with that W
9 punts, their followed drive results:
4 interceptions
2 field goals
2 punts
1 turnover on downs
Penn State never stood a chance with this man on the field
He punted their asses damn
lol great punting but the reason Penn State wasn't scoring was because their starting QB got hurt and the backup sucked. Penn state had 17 points like 2 minutes into the second quarter when their starter got hurt. The backup lead them to 3 points the rest of the game.
Winning a game and having 9 punts says it all.
ua-cam.com/video/XkSVyo4UlFQ/v-deo.html
@@nickfaraci94 Exactly. I felt terrible for that backup QB. Poor guy had ten thumbs, happy feet , and tunnel vision. That game was no doubt decided by the terrible play by the backup QB. And no. I'm not. PSU fan. Been an Iowa fan since before the head coaches name was Ferentz or Fry. Lol
Don't discount the punt coverage team, they excel and getting to the ball.
Speaking of coverage, you should check out youtube "Tim Dwight Human Missile". What he did was illegal back then, but it was a he'll of a timed hit. Best gunner I ever saw.
Yeah true but the air time on the ball is a factor as well to make sure it stays in the air long enough for the special teams to make it down the field
This is how special teams players get the defense to like them. It's getting difficult to break into the NFL as a kicker, but this guy should have a shot at one of the few spots out there and he might even get a higher draft than usual for a kicker. I grew up watching Ray Guy, who changed the game and besides accuracy, Ray could boom one that made you realize just how special he was. You had to see him in person to appreciate what he could do with a ball because the TV didn't do him justice.
I believe ray guy is the only punter in the Hall of Fame. Not only that he was so much better than any punter than his contemporaries and maybe ever since, I quit watching pro ball when Cleveland moved to Baltimore after watching them since 67. He in my opinion is one of the greatest players of all time along with brown, Brady, Lawrence Taylor, rice, young, Montana, Warfield, Joe Greene, and others. Pretty elite company ! Remember when OA Bum Phillips accused Madden of putting a small amount of helium in the football because guy was kicking ball so high ! LOL !
@@douglaslett7504 I believe you are right about there not being another kicker in the Hall of Fame, but Ray certainly deserved to be there and other players have no problem with him being there with them. No one has ever had a leg like him and he was way ahead of other kickers, changing the way special teams was played. He was very accurate as well as being able to launch one and he had different kicks for all situations.
I don’t understand why kickers and punters aren’t better represented in the HOF. Having a good kicker or punter, as shown via this game, can and will absolutely make a massive difference. I can think of at least a handful of other players at those two positions who absolutely should be in.
punter =/= kicker Those are two VERY different things.
@@JohnSmith-zw8vp I agree. My comment still stands. A lockdown punter and/or a clutch kicker who can regularly bomb from beyond 50 yards out with accuracy will show in the win/loss column.
Six seconds in; “Iowa State’s Aussie punter”
❌
I was thinking the same thing. How does someone screw up on their own video within the first ten seconds?
Idk if he edited/added it later but there's a correction in the description.
These videos make me wanna be a punter
do it brother
being a colts fan since birth, i had good kickers and punters to watch and look up too all the time. (did anyone ask? no, but idc. i wanted to say sum)
Facts
Be a kicker
@@gillmonsta no be a punter
Had a game like this. We won the game 7-0 and I had punted 5 times in the game. It was a great feeling.
i just didn't have the cameras on at the time
Yeah I remember that game
@@Ateszika yeah me too! it was wild
@@jordanlynam3135 same bruh it was crazy
Every woman in that stadium wanted you after that game I'm sure probably.
who’s here after Chicago drafted this man 4th round 🐻⬇️
@0:05 He plays for Iowa not Iowa State.
Shut up
@@saltyQ11 But he does play for Iowa...
When I was a junior in H.S. our punter, a junior as well, played 2nd string fullback and first string linebacker - averaged 55 yards a punt, scored a TD as we won 26-21. He was the athlete of the week. He was also the fastest man on our team and in the entire league actually.
Punter had a hell of a game, but once Penn state starting quarterback when down this game was over
That's a good excuse
@@JRLSprague3 what? Lol if you lose your qb you’re immediately at a disadvantage, plus they were playing the #3 team in the country. So yes, pretty fair to say they had a disadvantage.
@@JRLSprague3 if you watch the teams play b4 and after its very obvious
@@JRLSprague3 At least penn state has an excuse, Iowa has no excuse for being pummeled by michigan
Facts Jordan. That Punter dominated and basically took over the game single handedly. No doubt on my darkhorse Heisman watch list.
Taylor will be HIGH on the NFL Re
cruitment List
There were 2 other factors that lead to Iowa winning:
1) Iowa home crowd and
2) Penn State's backup QB's 2nd half performance
Iowa's home crowd had no effect on Penn State as was proven by Penn State's lead prior to Sean Clifford going down. It was Sean Clifford going down and Penn State's horrific backup QB.
@@PowerNGlory allow me to direct you to the following video to prove you unequivocally wrong:
ua-cam.com/video/qL8SSYpV_tM/v-deo.html
@@PowerNGlory you forget about those false starts?
@@PowerNGlory Iowa knocked PSU's QB out of the game, PSU fans are dumb for making excuses. Clifford is injury prone and your backup QB is bad thats on PSU for not having him ready. Stfu
@@davidthosome623 Using more words to describe that you think you're right doesn't mean you are less wrong.
Also, it was already 3 and 13 prior to the penalties. It didn't change that drive AT ALL. Was resulting in a punt either way. Crowd was a nonfactor, like usual.
Also, Iowa was losing at this point, lol. So, yeah, you're wrong three times over.
"unequivocally" rofl...what a fucking buffoon, lol.
Thank you for bringing this to light, always good to see other positions getting respect
This kid should be drafted by in the nfl as second round draft pick.
More like single footedly
High Quality Coment
I know right
He certainly has a leg-acy.
@@terryrose4804 wow just wow amazing
Did Iowa State change their name to the Hawkeyes???
I was wondering the same thing
HAHAHA
I’ve never seen leg accuracy this consistent!!! God damn
Almost as good as Matt Ariza, love that man.
A good punter is so good to have and so fun
I love seeing greatness in the unsung parts of the game
Yeah Penn State losing a 3 year starter at QB against a top tier defense had nothing to do with it.
Awwww So your entire team was based around one player?
Here we go again....
@@Xdtrl Not a Penn State fan at all, just stating facts
@@jman1276 So you attribute all of Penn state's losses to one player then?
makes a lot of sense...
@@Xdtrl You honestly think Iowa wins that game playing against a competent QB for 4 quarters?
@@Xdtrl Wait a minute, didn't Iowa fans blame their losses to mighty Purdue and juggernaut Wisconsin on Petras? Iowa fans actually blame the entire offensive problem directly on Petras. Lol. Pot calling the kettle black eh?
I feel punters don’t get a lot of tv replay love enough. When people realize having a great punter does to a team it makes it very hard for offenses to score by marching 70-90 yards.
He helped, like every other player.
This game was the peak of the season for Iowa
Punter and kicker fr most important player on team
If you look at Special Teams; punters are listed as defense for a reason. Respect the punter! They win more games than you know! Great channel Isaac Punts!
Shout out to his gunners too, excellent job getting down and keeping the ball inside the 5
As an Iowa football fan, it’s kind of sad we are losing him, but also we sucked this season anyways
As a penn state fan it was so frustrating starting inside the 5 yard line what felt like every drive. He really did win them the game
Nah dude Sean Clifford getting hurt lost the game for Penn State. I'm not a big Clifford fan but he was moving the ball well against Iowa. the backup just sucked.
@@nickfaraci94 yeahhh true. That really did ruin the whole season cause he was never the same player even after he returned. I more so meant that the punter was Iowa’s best player that game
Guys he won that game
Your scripts are fantastic. I'd LOVE to hear your energy turned up to 11 and bring that McAfee heat! Keep doing your thing bud
It’s all about field position
Iowa not Iowa State :(
The browns need to draft this punter in the first round with their first pick. We really need someone to kick field goals, but we need 2 more kickers for sure. Some of these college players look amazing. The talent may not be as aggressive as they used to be, but the skill set is on a whole different level.
The Tom Brady of punters
really wish aussie football was on TV in the US more
Iowa has some big guys!!!
i love how relaxed he looks.
Iowa only won that game because Penn States starting quarterback Sean Clifford got injured in the 2nd quarter i believe. Penn State was leading when he left the game and the backup quarterback was terrible
Don't matter they lost. The world Don't care how or why.
0:47 LMFAO
1:08 beautiful commentary
When I saw this game live live I knew this punter would being going places
Adam Viatieri-kicker, ALL TIME SCORING RECORD for the NFL! Never underestimate the value of a consistent kicker/punter.
Because of your glorious commenting style I have subscribed
this punter is for sure getting drafted
Not sure if you've ever seen the 2000 Sugarbowl, but the FSU punter should have won the MVP. If you have not seen it, and love punting, watch the whole thing. You will not be disappointed. 7-44.3 and that's only half the story. Plus you get to see Michael Vick in his prime and a great game.
Hope his was named player of the week. Those punts inside the 10 and a couple+ inside the 5 are AMAZING!
For the Brand!!! 🏈
Single footedly* won this game
He did the same against Michigan, they were just a better team
Dont forget the Iowa fans. They helped a lot.
Wait what's with all the food analogies though? 🤣 Had me dying in confused laughter 🤣
special teams underated and under appreciated
Best punter in the nation
Punts are good but so are the players keeping them out of the endzone.
Surprising how a punter was drafted in the 4th round
Can we address that gunner!? Ain't no one attempting nothing when he's staring you down 5 yards downfield as the ball is still arcing
Bears D is going to love this guy!! “I’ll pin em, you go get em!” Pat McAffe
" single handedly".... I saw some gunners making some spectacular saves down there
Yes and no. That's Iowa's strategy. Pin the opponents offense inside their 10, defense comes hard and forces a three and out or a turnover and Iowa's offense (which is anemic) has a short field to work with.
This game came down to the defense though. PSU's Starting QB went out with an injury and never returned. PSU offense fell apart without the starting QB. That backup was just horrible. He played like a deer in headlights.
But the punting in that game was probably the best punting I have seen since Jason Baker or dare I say Reggie Roby.
packers need this man in the draft after their special teams
No we don’t. Our punter is fine it’s just the team around him. Bojorquez in great
“Iowa state’s punter”
Jfc, I’m not even a Hawkeye fan and that hurts me
The fact that they had to punt 9x tells you their offense is anemic. Great punter though. PSU primary QB injury and poor coaching of the back-up QB, led to this loss. If healthy, PSU won this game by 4 scores AND Iowa's excellent punter still has 9 outstanding punts.
Someone sounds upset
@@reservationmanager2240 Seems like it to me too. If Iowa had better offensive coaching the Hawks would have won by 9 scores. No, on second thought I think it would have been 11.
Ride the metaphor till the end! Good job, Chef!
I’m surprised no special teams coach has set up an Aussie Rules goal post down the sideline.
One big pole at the corner pylon, a second big pole on the 7 yard line, and a smaller pole on the 15.
That’s the visual that an Australian kicker is used to.
Penn State also played most of the game with their 2nd string QB.
I wish i could super like a video this is so entertaining
What Iowa fans are accustom to: good line play & kickers that are great at their jobs. Too bad we can't find that top tier quarterback to be able to put the cherry on top.
Great video Isaac. Thank you for recognizing Taylor’s talent. However we are the Iowa Hawkeyes not the IOWA STATE Hawkeyes :)
Shades of Ray Guy!
Single footedly
Get this guy on the Pat McAfee show!
5 star punter, 5 star video.
This commentary made me salivate.
When people say special teams are not relevant, its because they've never seen good special teams
For the Brand
I would say he single-footedly won this game.
*He was a pain in the Big10 championship too.*
Some credit should be given to the rest of the special teams for chasing down the ball and downing it before it could roll out for a touchback.
Boom goes the dynamite
Looks like somebody is getting DRAFTED
He literally kicked their ass.
I made back up punter in high school then comes first game during warm ups , I nailed our DC right in the head and got fired on the spot lmao
here after he did it again against South Dakota State
My Bears drafted this guy.
That is the type of kicker to make it to the nfl
This can be a strategy for a NFL team in the future, just use all the cap space for defense, basicly dont play with an offense and use both an insanly good punter and kicker. Then score on defense and with field goals.
Is this a channel dedicated to punting?
MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP
I'm really hungry after this video.
Iowa Hawkeyes my guy!!
It's hard to watch Iowa because of their offense I miss the shon greene days
Welcome to the Bears 🐻⬇️
Aussies punter/kickers are making a run for their country
Am I the only one that notices his phone going off during him talking?
Not "single handedly"... Single footedly!
Single handedly doesn't mean what you think it means.
yeah their punter was great, but we were also playing with a quarterback that didn’t even know how to play football
Man this video doesn’t even make sense. The only reason Iowa won the game was because Pennstate QB got injured. It would have been a blowout.
Yeah, completely disregard the fact that Penn State played the entirety of the 2md half with their backup quarterback... Because that had nothing to do with it
I absolutely will to further my points yes, I will be biased but honest about my biases
The part where everybody checks their phones.
If only the Packers had Iowa’s special teams last season
