      Just wonderful, been searching for "best time to exercise for insulin resistance" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Panadison Substratal Preponderance - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is an awesome one off product for discovering how to reversing insulin resistance and diabetes without the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my friend got great success with it.

      @@juliemacandrews1434I had slow loss, too and had to stop all snacking, I also needed to cut all dairy except for goat ghee and goat butter and no nuts or just 1/4 cup (if you eat them). Are you fasting too? if not fasting then must eat (TRE) time restricted eating meaning 3 meals a day but 5-6 hours between meals without snacks. If you can extend to intermittent fasting along with healthy eating and eliminating inflammatory foods you will see results. It may take some time to realize consistent progress. Measure yourself don't weigh. The scale is evil and doesn't tell the whole story. Take a picture of yourself and take another in 3 months and see if any difference, sometimes you're changing but the scale does show it as dramatically.

    This is such important information! Is there a chart for these numbers somewhere that I can refer to when I talk to (educate) my PCP? She has ordered and A1C and lipid panel but is hesitant to test my insulin.

    • @WideAwakeHuman
      @WideAwakeHuman 4 роки тому +2

      Probably not a chart made anywhere... But just look up the "reference ranges' for all these tests, write them down and then go thru this video and write down what Cywes considers normal then take that with you. If ur PCP has a problem ordering an insulin or C peptide level then you should really find a new PCP because not only do they not understand the value of those lab tests, but they also don't understand how to listen to their patients. Good luck!

    • @WideAwakeHuman
      @WideAwakeHuman 3 роки тому +1

      @Aman Bhardwaj HOMA IR is a formula that estimates insulin resistance using fasting glucose and fasting insulin levels - a c-peptide is an indirect (yet more accurate) measure of insulin production since c-peptide is formed when insulin is made but, unlike insulin, c-peptide isn't metb's in the portal vein so it stays around longer and thus is a better indicator of actual insulin levels.
      If you want to actually measure insulin resistance you need a Hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp - but pretty sure you're not going to find anyone willing to do it since it involves having insulin and glucose infusions going simulatneously and then the amount of glucose and insulin needed to keep your blood glucose at a certain level can be used to measure insulin sensitivity.
      The best/easiest measure is probably measure your c-peptide and A1C and go from there- cheap and easy - not an exact measure but it's enough to tell you where you are and measure progress - but I'm just a guy on the internet so def ask your doc haha

    One thing not strictly correct is it does actually matter what type of carbs you eat. Prior to 1980 Chinese ate 65% carbs -obesity and diabetes< 1%. Now diabetes 10,9% due to refined sugars. Fructose can only be metabolized in the liver. Overdose causes fatty liver which then cant handle glucose without lots of insulin. This leads to a huge increase in insulin resistance and diabetes. Fructose: poison in the dose much more potent cause of insulin resistance than glucose.

    • @gailc3042
      @gailc3042 4 роки тому +1

      If I understand correctly, when you exercise you burn the sugars/carbs. These runners deplete their carb storage totally. If they continued to carb load but did not exercise as much they would get fatter and less healthy

    • @neogenesus
      @neogenesus 4 роки тому +1

      Sugar is used as energy, when you exercise like an athlete does (4+ hours a day), you will most definitely used up all the "sugar" that you consume.

    • @stewartsaunders1838
      @stewartsaunders1838 4 роки тому

      Michael K Only 600 calories of sugar are stored in our bodies. Athletes must keep their heartbeat low enough to be running on fat stores. Kenyan runners are exceptionally efficient in their requirement for oxygen thus their running speed over longer distances is advantaged. The complications of carb loading comes later in life for apparently healthy athletes, as the Doc said.

    • @neogenesus
      @neogenesus 4 роки тому

      @@stewartsaunders1838 I know and I agree that carb loading will have effect later in life. But the question is why the kenyan runners don't have diabetes is because they most likely use all the sugar as fuel when they are still an athlete. If they keep eating the same when they retire, they will developed diabetes too. I am not an athlete, but I used to play badminton quite heavily, my energy level always drop pretty fast on carb, but when I do keto, there is no "crash" and I can sustain my energy level much longer.

I've gone back through my records and found that my doctor tested my A1c at 5.5 (he did not test fasting insulin.) If he'd had any sense, he'd tested the markers you mentioned. In my mind, specifically fasted insulin. I'm betting it was over 10.
    If he had, I may have had the opportunity to avoid becoming diabetic. Instead, how did I respond? I ate fewer calories, more frequently, and moved around a lot (daily walks) per the advice I was given. 😡

    I have been very confused about fasting insulin. It has been as high as 68 -- before I began eating ketogenically over for 6 months ago. I am now with an A1C of 5, (down from 6.4) fasting glucose of 89, and current fasting insulin of 27. Will my fasting insulin ever normalize? I also have a CAC score of 619 and am dealing with recommendations to increase statins and take a stress test. My treating physicians do not understand or seem to appreciate insulin resistance as a root cause issue. I feel I am managing my insulin resistance all by myself and am not sure about how to best navigate all of this. So confused.

      An athlete or couch potato, carb eater or protein and fat eater, the human body can only hold 600 calories of sugar available for a quick fight or flight. After this your burning fat and perhaps the sugar your fat can produce on the move. Carb loading is in fact fat storing. Healthy energy storage is through eating fat, working with the body not stressing the body by eating carbohydrates.

    On the level of pure information, we have no essential problem with this individual.. but on the level of personhood, there is much that is problematic about both his attitude and his self-regard.
    Apart from the troubling deadness in his eyes, and the complete lack of any emotion vaguely resembling warmth, care, affection, good humor, we are left with a rather toneless and robotic delivery of that essential information, against the backdrop of barely veiled superiority and condescension.. for course, he knows ever so much more than we do, and he is quite impatient that we should see that as soon as possible.
    'so I have all things, but have not love, I am but a sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.
    My suggestion for this self-appointed master of all things biochemical - first, find love and genuine care for your subjects and then learn how to express it so that it is perceivable and palpable to them.. remove the deadly glare from your cold visit and soften your features so that they can convey the gender emotions and sensibilities.
    Stop dividing up the nutritional world into American and non-american.. America is a huge nation, filled with innumerable kinds of people from all over the world, and at all levels of knowledge and skill and wisdom. America contains the most brilliant minds as well as the least. America is not simply a nation which eats extraordinarily high carbohydrate meals, but a nation of vegans, vegetarians, carnivores, and all varieties of mixtures thereof. Stop blaming America for the bad habits of the world, and start praising America for all the brilliant minds that she offers that world.
    You can do it Robert, all it takes is some genuine love.

      There was a chimpanzee that was taught to sign. It wasn't taught vulgarisms. It adopted the sign for "dirty" as a swear-word. So I suspect swearing is deeply embedded in human language usage.
      That said, I also wonder why you are making a big thing about something that is an artifact of human culture, rather than an absolute. Even within English itself, there are sounds and words and phrases that are considered "rude" in some parts of the English speaking world and which are considered normal words in other parts. To Australian ears the American pronunciation of "solder" sounds rude. Whether a word is regarded as rude or not varies over time.
      So I'm happy for Robert Cywes to communicate the way he feels comfortable.
