@@STRANJAH Hi do we have to subscribe Sir. ? thanks.
more people should find out about drumfunk, very underrated subgenre of jungle
Indeed. Itd be cool if some of the more popular roller-oriented artists made an occasional dip into it and tried to see how their sounds would work under drumfunk conventions.
True!
Nah , more people means adulteration, always.
100% drumfunk is jungle evolved. Artists like paradox and dgohn changed the game
i learned of dnb/jungle/breakcore nearly 2 decades ago but learned of drumfunk TODAY. This will undoubtedly make my first dnb track more fun. thxxx!
Thanks for the little mention there Al, nice one! Big up as always.
The day someone finally made a drumfunk tutorial, there are comments asking if it's breakcore, I completely expected this, and I always talk about how they're similar but still very different
I was almost about to make one myself, but I have no idea how to edit videos...
I noticed that too haha
Respect ✊🏻
Bigup my g
dgoHn is the absolute OG when it comes to drum funk
This was a great video! As a fan and practitioner of the genre, always had respect for you but appreciate the attention to detail you shared for those new to this style. Bigup!
"crazy and wild" lol I love it. Super helpful as always!
I like using a Transient Shaper on edits as well. I find it accentuates the peak hits. You can lessen the decay on the body to help achieve this…
I like the Kilohearts TS.
@@notsure1135 The Bitwig TS is next level as well! They’ve now got a Transient splitter!! Multi band Transient Shaping.
Schaak Audio also make a good one…..
@@MrMallum bitwig transient shaper surprised me with how great it is. And yea you can get super creative with the new transient spectral plugin.
Interesting vibes.
Drumfunk is so awesome!
That rimshot fill in the track was so cool!
thx!
👉 What is your fave drumfunk track?
Drumfunk reminds me of Omni Trio, so Im gonna say, Renegade Snares.
Paradox - Play Twice Before Listening
Equinox, Looking At The Moon
Reso - Taiga
Igorr - Very Noise
Big up on the video Brother.
There was a double vinyl record released in 1993 in the Uk called Plastic Jam Break Beats Vol1. On a label called Labello Blanco Recordings.
It's all live drumming sample,
Old skool jungle
I have this!!!
Plastic Jam is an amazing break.
Dedication:(The Breakbeat Tree) ,relaxed, cognizant, thorough content of real value. And since you mentioned # drumfunk, subsribed. All the best.
Didn’t knew this existed, but that’s my ish, gonna jump right into the daw after this !
Hopefully this will be available later... I got school, and I absolutely love your tutorials.
I go to the dnb patterns from 2021 constantly
It will be available for sure!
Thankyou Stranjah for keeping giving us the secrets to making proper DnB & Jungle...and DRUMFUNK
@27mins is bad ass editing
This is really a HUGE video. Thanx for this.
This video was very well done. Edited well, polished and presented perfectly. This genre suits my OCD for edits and details! Sounding tuff!
I think of Dom and Roland when I hear drumfunk
DUDE this. is. GOLD.
Those Tracklib breaks sound great!
I was wondering when you were gonna do this, you did it justice dude, awesome as always!!
Much love dude
- Bloodclot
Glad you enjoyed!
My favourite genre o.o
dude ive waited for this for like years
freakin amazing. thank you stranjah
Drumfunk tutorial... I love the Internet, youtube, and your instructionals )
I"m still on cubase 5 too! I know you use abelton though. I really like the drum tutorials! Love this channel great idea! DNB tutorials are all over the place on youtube, nice to have just one channel like yours. BTW I bought one of your earlier releases back in the day in like 2001 or so, forget the tune wasn't sure if it was you or not.
BIG up gor that tutorial at the start of it - very like this sub-genre, thank u very much!
Your videous very helpful for understanding "beats science : )
Be healthy and bless u ☀
Very cool sounds. Can't believe you didn't mention Squarepusher though. Port Rhombus is amazing!
thanks man! quality as always
Top tutorial, thanks for this Stranjah :)
same techniques used in breakcore too
Thats what Im waiting for , thanks mate , amazing videos ❤!
Such insight on the matter!! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial! Really useful, thankyou!
offline media, a timeless classic 💀
Working those breaks in audio, is definitely a test in patience! Midi with RX2, for me please! 😇
If you're not familiar with drumfunk kids, check old but gold Seba & Paradox tune like You didn't see it did you and of course Drum sessions (Seba remix). P.S. Thanks Stranjah for the tutorial as always!! Big up!
Fracture & Neptune - Worm Science too.
The tune that introduced me to Drumfunk.
老哥你变帅了
Ahhhh love this video. You mention some of my fav artists and labels, and you even use recycle - classic software for classic styles! A+
Thanks!
Awesome video Stranjah :-) ........didn't know about the warping bar at the top inside a midi clip, I normally use a BPM app on my phone to find the breaks proper BPM and then study it, big up Ant
most welcome by g
Big up to Fanu
29:39 i beg your pardon, drum what? hahaha
Dope beats!
Great tutorial. You got a sub.
I honestly didnt know recycle was still available, def going to need to try it out :)
this is so dope 💯
Very Good Vid
Great Video! thank you.
You are welcome!
Also check Nic TVG's Pinecone Moonshine, it's a great drumfunk label too.
YESSSS
SWAMP FUNK EQUINOX REMIX
dope
the Jazz sample how did you put it in tune?
and about the mix of the kick and bass ???
good track
Always heard this kinda thing called Drill’n’bass, never heard of drumfunk. I guess they’re different things though
@stranjah Do you have any drumfunk releases? This video was so dope! I'm interested in these types of drums from a ragga-jungle choppage perspective ie. Soundmurderer, DJ K, Krinjah, early Remarc. You could make another similar video, but add ragga flavours in the third last chapter instead!
Check my track G-Riddim on UA-cam. Also my track Dark Tune
Yoo this is sick! Ive gotten into Drumfunk last year, and always wondered how it was made. This was a great tutorial and I will be referring back to it during producing. What program do you use to make music?
When you say let's get right into it but turn left 😆
Fool The Detector - Venetian Snares.
Hi Stranjah... yeah i watched the whole show now and starting at 23:59 the kick fill that you used did sound a bit muddy and it didn't look like you noticed that. i don't know this drumfunk genre so maybe this is a purposeful usage of the kick drum but as i heard it sounded just a bit short of being distorted. please tell me 'is that the way it should be', which would make me Analy retentive also. i know that you've produced and sold record's whereas i have just produced demos. maybe i have a case of production O.C.D please answer my thoughts and put me out of my misery. Thank yo
Saw Paradox Friday and literally spent Sunday trying to do this and failing, so thanks as there is not much out there on this kind of jungle. Any chance of a dive in to the sine basses used onSci wax stuff? Its very subtle but I fell like theres a lot to it, making sure it works with the tunes etc...
Thanks
Bigup! Wish I could have seen that gig!! For the Sub, load a sine wave and use a pitch envelope to give the attack portion some thump. Its basically how to make a d.i.y 808. The trick is to just pitch shift the start of the sine to let the regular note play un pitched unless you want the pitch up or down effect. Good luck!
Thank you, I will think about the sub basses
Yup! Check my punchy sub bass video also
Paradox is on another level as he performs a lot of these drum edits live using Amiga 500 keyboards (I think!) - madness
@@djkrptdnb Yeah, he has full stage of equipment, and that old monitor to share the tracker too.
did you notice that at 23:59 the kicks sounded a little bit muddy. is there nothing you can do to clean them up a little. possibly round them up slightly also. Just an idea. not quite finished watching the full vid yet so if you do correct them at the end of the vid then please ignore this comment and i am sorry for commenting before watching the full show. Thanks.
Ps. when i say round them up a little i refer to rounding up the 'wave form'. Thanks
What OS are you running? I lost Recycle compatibility when I updated to Mac Monterey.
Bro, WHERE did DEV go?
God created MPC for this REASON LOL
What's the 1st song called?
I just want to know what program ur using
Ableton
sounds more like glitch, in the intro
when does drum funk become IDM?
In my opinion. More glitch edits and faster tempo. More random weird jazz influenced writing in the baselines. Ambient atmospherics. Sometimes punk and Classical music influences.
You forgot DJ Fracture!!!
I did, shame on me
It's quite interesting how people say that DnB or Jungle isn't black influenced, but most if not all the breaks come from black musicians... 🤔
Sounds like breakcore no?
Belongs to a similar family of derivatives of jungle
lol I am 777-th person who liked this video)))
Toonami Music ? 😂
is this not breakcore?
Similar derivatives of jungle
@@STRANJAH gotcha, thanks for reply. love your stuff, you've helped improve my bass music game massively in the 5ish months I've been watching you ❤
Breakcore is higher tempo and it's much more liberal with its use of samples and glitches. Drumfunk is much more subtle with its drums and sample use.
@@amenist Good distinction
Omg bruh, make a tune and throw breaks later, are you serious right now?!?!?
Ewww. Balenciaga hat!?!?
Stranjah is no “stranger” to that drip!!!
Now let’s break down that comment.
Not only is there a StranjAh pun, but is the “drip” referring to the hat or a runny nose (livestream reference)?
Yes.
😄😃🐙
"My friend 0=0" ... lol ... what's 0=0 doing lately? he hasn't released anything actually. doesn't he?!
Pls dont tell people about drumfunk, they will screw it like dubstep back in the day :(
Cool video, thanks!
this is "aphextwinesque"😆
Anything by Fanu. *droooool*
He's a G for sure
