    Not many videos of people building in this case. Thanks for sharing!

    Thank you for showcasing this case. It's one I am considering for my next build.

    Silverstone always makes such a fascinating cases, I have plenty of their rack mountable ones myself.
    Great build btw!

    Congrats on your new PC! Just a few details. Instead of getting an overkill 1500W PSU, you could get an 850W PSU, no difference for this system. You're getting 9800X3D with a heatsink made for lower TDP CPUs. You will need to upgrade that heatsink soon or underclock the CPU. Otherwise everything is fine. M2_2 does share the bandwith with GPU lanes but your CPU supports up to 24 lanes. GPU will use 16 and M2_1 will use 4. You can still install another SSD to M2_2 and you will be fine unless you install a second GPU. M2_3 and M2_4 are from chipset instead of CPU. You can also enable RAID 0 for extra SSD speed but lower data safety, RAID 1 for data safety if you don't need seperate drives and all that storage.
    On BIOS settings, if you enable AMD EXPO instead of Memory Try It! you'll get better and stable speeds.

      Thanks for the comment!
      That PSU is in part for future proofing. I tend to buy a PSU every 10 years or even less, and I'm anticipating a card with two 12V-2x6 connectors at some point.
      The Noctua comparability for 9800X3D is here: ncc.noctua.at/cpus/model/AMD-Ryzen-7-9800X3D-1842
      It shows there is overclocking headroom for that CPU with the D15S. So far my highest CPU temp has been 60C and the fan is nowhere near full speed. So I think the cooler will be fine.
      For lane sharing, full information is on the table.on page 21 of the board manual. The only lane sharing on this motherboard with a 9000 or 7000 CPU is between the first GPU slot PCI_E1, the second GPU slot PCI_E2 and M2_2. For x16, don't use those connectors.

      @@RobFisherUK It's a great piece for futureproofing. I know the compatibility tests and how they are rated. D15S is a great cooler, a little noisy on high temps. I have the same motherboard and I am using RAID 0 with two Gen5 SSD's on M2_1 and M2_2 and I'm getting 24k read speed. I only have one GPU installed.

      @canuzayusa I think your GPU will be on PCIe x8 but my suspicion is it makes very little difference to graphics performance.
      That is very impressive read speed!

    Thanks a lot for providing a hands-on demo of the case. I think the case is great and it will very likely be my next one. Do you have a comparison to a conventional case w.r.t. to noise? Because the airflow is so good in this one, one should be able to get away with pretty low fan speeds, especially if one installs some bottom fans for the GPU as well. I'm wondering whether the correspondingly lower fan speeds will offset the lack of any sound dampening.

    • @RobFisherUK
      @RobFisherUK  18 днів тому +1

      My previous case was a Fractal Design one that had lots of sound damping on the inside. Honestly I don't think this case is much louder, and my temps are so low that I could definitely run the fans even slower.

      I checked and my previous video about installing a fan on the bottom of that case doesn't include any sound level recordings.

    Hey, I've got this case and looking to make it a NAS system similar to the Fractal Design 7XL or better but I need some help designing the internal cages or bays.. Any ideas please 🙏??

    should get an aio liquid cooler much better than a big block of heatsink

    • @RobFisherUK
      @RobFisherUK  16 днів тому +1

      It's a matter of opinion. I can't be bothered with the extra installation hassle and what I imagine to be extra maintenance of a liquid cooler. And the cooling is plenty. Noise I'm less sure about but the noise I have isn't bothering me.

    • @coolcat23
      @coolcat23 3 дні тому +1

      @@RobFisherUK I prefer air cooling as well. It is maintenance free whereas water cooling can require attention regarding residue build up in the cooling filaments, liquid diffusion, air bubbles, and leaks. I wouldn't want the noise of a pump either. For the CPU you chose, a good air cooler is more than sufficient.

    The "USB" plugs you had to remove the graphics card for, are not "USB" plugs, but SATA plugs. If I were you, I'd check which sockets you used (SATA 1-6) as it is not uncommon for them to be shared with M.2 (storage media) lanes. The motherboard handbook will detail any sharing / exclusion rules.

    • @RobFisherUK
      @RobFisherUK  18 днів тому

      There are both USB and SATA in a similar area. I'm fairly sure the only sharing going on is with 8 of the PCIe lanes on the GPU, M2_2 and the other PCIe 5 slot. But I'll check again.
