McLaren Plus Tour July 2024
I was lucky enough to win a tour of McLaren HQ. Here are some shots of the areas we were allowed to photograph. There was a lot more to the tour that I can't show. A really amazing day.

The real question is how much would my electric bill be in July?
My Pimax CL arrived 10 days ago, and I can confirm that it is a total trash. Not only the tracking issues but also LCD panels motion blur, so image is clear only when not moving.
Ooh, that's disappointing. My (non-light) Crystal at least has a good image.
@@RobFisherUK so you don't have any motion blur when you move your head. this is what I recorder with my iphone through the lenses: ua-cam.com/video/zSlfFUPxFbY/v-deo.htmlsi=7peg38vMplHEhgkQ
@@RandomNoise no I'm not seeing that. Or at least, nothing I've seen has led me to even consider motion blur. That is very strange. I wonder if your display is somehow not being driven properly. It looks like the recent LTT video where the cooled down a display to -20C. I'm guessing your room is not that cold...
Great video. But the way you punish your return key… 😂
How to turn off heating plz ?
The people jumping up and down after that crash are the worst and probably not true fans of the sport. Doesn't matter who you support but if another driver has a big crash and could be seriously hurt the last thing you should do is celebrate and jump up and down ffs
What size Kw are the outside units? And how many do you have? Cheers
Anybody got a solution to this? My PCL is having the same issue - jitter in cockpit when not moving head - although i love the visuals i cannot live with this Jitter.
I have this too. Did you find any solution?
Thank you for sharing this.
SOLUTION: If you haven't sent the headset back yet, light in your room is not your friend. This headset actually performs best in a dark room with only the monitor in front of you. That's all the light you need or a dimly lit room. I did a night flight in MSFS and it didn't loose it's head tracking once in my office with no other light than the monitor (impossible with the Reverb).😉
I'll give this a try, thanks!
I imagined Adrian Newey would live in a bigger house and already have his AC installed.
Mine is even worse than yours. This is home made garbage. The quest 3 doesn’t have any of these issues.
Wiring up an AC to the mains plugs.... Yeah I would have spent a bit more money and put them in a separate circuit. You'd be saving yourself some big headaches troubleshooting any electrical faults in the future.
Any chance of an update?
What a fucking bodge that install is 😂😂 not even a dedicated circuit from the fuse board
I prefer an install with a compressor in the loft and just ducked into each room, no trunking around interior or exterior of the house that way.
Looks like a pretty low quality install, but you get what you pay for I guess!
Why do you think it’s low quality?
@@slengoslengaw8510 plastic surface mounted trunking inside and out 🙄
@@jrisner6535I wonder how much time will it take until the UV will make it brittle
Great video. I've a similar house and I'm thinking about a similar installation.
That's one ugly install. Bet all that exterior insulation is shredded by now. As for the electrical... 😖
Womp womp.
So it's exactly as you thought: you still have hideous white PVC pipes everywhere, just slightly smaller than in your first thoughts.
How is the UPS going nowadays?
Can we get an update a year on please?
What have been your fave games to play on the SD?
What state was the copper pipes in after being forced through that unlined hole in the wall?
Why would you need AC in the UK?
Because my house is regularly 25+ due to a south facing 20+ m2 of glass on the south coast. 29.5 was the max we ever had upstairs, that was when we took the decision to AC. Best thing we ever did.
External brick blown out when drilling. My personal pet peeve.
Mind me asking location of your indoor units? I want to do something similar for my 3 bed house, with conservatory. How have you installed so that it could cool your whole house?
Comfort during hot days but you're stuck constantly with big ugly units on your inside walls and ugly trunking on the outside your house. Im looking for the units that fit flush in the ceiling. No ugly eyesores and no taking up wall space.
I've got no trunking in the bedrooms, ran pipes through the stud walls, you can have them installed on exterior walls and straight through, no pipes at all. Downstairs are bulkheads with grills, nobody even notices any of it, again all the piping is hidden in bulkheads.
I’m late to the party, but I am also experiencing occasional jitters in MSFS. When they occur, they are very dynamic. Also, the headset frequently loses my position in the aircraft, so I am constantly having to reset my view. I just received my Crystal Light last week, without the face plate. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have settled for now on inside-out tracking, with good lighting. There is some lag but if I try not to think about it, it's not too bad.
@@RobFisherUK thank you! I have been using the headset in a relatively dim room. I will increase the lighting.
@@lowndesquinlan4252 Ive got this issue too. Did you find any solution?
Christ that welding looks awful. Great idea for a trailer however.
Great video! Can we have an update? How much installation was / usage figures? Thanks ✌🏻
It generally costs about 20p a day even if I don't use it. On hot days I spend 60p - about £1.20 running it on the Octopus Agile tariff. Depends on weather and how much of the house I'm cooling at once, though. Right now it's hot out and I'm burning about 500W keeping cool in the kitchen/diner. Generally that's only needed for a few hours a day, though.
intresting to see, i have also had 5 internal units installed, all Toshiba as i wanted to link this in with HA and it seemed the easiest to do this with. 2 x Mini Splits for each side of the house downstairs and 1 Multi Split for the bedrooms upstairs, has been great for the summer and have hardly noticed the power consumption. Power usage last week 05/08/2024-11/08/2024 was 9.1kWh, this included running one bedroom from 23:00-07:00 on quiet mode every night. Total usage for July was 31.42kWh which based off my average cost of 12.96p/kWh is £4.07 for July. Will be intresting to see how it performs in the winter when it gets really cold, it was testing a bit in the last week of April where i used 12.36kWh which based off my average of 10.90p/kWh was £1.35 for one weeks heating in the afternoon.
I need to figure out how to get monthly costs out of HA, so far I can only see daily costs for AC on the energy page.
@@RobFisherUK yeah I still need to fully setup HA for the AC. Currently I just have a dashboard for each unit with an all off and all on button. Have managed to get Agile rates on a mobile widget this week which shows the current and next cost price, still working on getting them all to show for the day.
@@mar451111 yeah I have some automations that do things when electricity is cheap or expensive. I'm hoping by winter I can figure out something to switch between Gas and electric heating depending on prices.
How did it work out for the heating? Currently in a house with electric heating, so replacing the radiators with these would be nice in summer and winter.
It's pretty useful but for me mainly when I'm working at home on my own because I don't need to heat the whole house. I keep myself toasty on a cold day with about 350W. It can heat the whole house, but not necessarily cheaper than gas to do so. But this winter will be different: I signed up for the Octopus Agile tariff so I can run gas heating when electricity is expensive and electric heating when it's cheap. And it can get really cheap (even free) sometimes.
As horrifying as that crash was, this footage is… wow so beautiful. The switch from the screen to the track in the exact moment they crash, straight up from a movie
Do you have an update please bud.
Who would want bloody ugly things like that on your wall
What i love about your video is that you go into some insight into the the power consumption.
Even though I'm a hamilton fan, I miss the days where max could climb out of his car unharmed to the sound of applause, now he would have been been met with boos
You could top their car's AC up while you are there Guys!
If I turned into someone I'd expect the same result...max ever the idiot
You didn't show the final installation from the outside.
Thank you for this thorough & very educational video. I just got quoted for air conditioning for my 3 story house in the UK and as an anxious person who likes to know all the details, this really helped me understand the work that will be done.
Lol, I bought a portable one off amazon for 200 quid, you velcro a zip to your window and put the ducting out, zip your thing up and boom instant air con any room best thing i ever bought fk spending an arm and leg for 3 days of the year it gets used
@@jakestablettableto9453 But what's the energy usage lmao

Hi there, despite the few comments about the Titanium burrs not grindinging as quickly, my Ti burrs grind 20g for espresso before the white ring light starts flashing and the quality of them are amazing. I was thinking about getting the Opalglide burrs but I'm really not sure if it's worth it. The Ti ones seem to be 2-3 times the price of the Opalglide ones which makes me think, what coating is on the Opalglide ones? I reckon some kind of ceramic nanocoating. Do you find the Opalglide burrs grind VERY quickly? At the very very least 19-20g before the power light starts flashing? Thanks.
Hamilton its a dirty player 🤢🤢sucks🤢🤢
Hamilton the best
Here after the news that Max had reoccurring vision problems for the rest of the 2021 season due to this (yet managed to still win the championship!).
Got my crystal light the other day, and the head tracking lags out when I'm playing iRacing, works ok for the first 10 or so minutes, but the longer I play, the more laggy it gets. Frame rate is fine, just seems like the movement sensors are faulty. It's plugged into a USB 3 port on it's own also. I have a Oculus Quest 3 which works perfectly, so I know that this is definitely a Crystal Light issue.
In your video you mentioned it should be showing max output at 30kW not 24kW. The reason is because the central heating output is 24kW, the 30kW part is the hot water output, hence why it's called a 30kW model.
What are the audience enjoying? Why didn't everyone pray for Max when his collision was so serious?
It's claps of encouragement and to show that they're glad Max is alive and ok enough to get out of the car himself
